becoming a diabetic got me into martial arts, I've been doing martial arts since I was 9, thank you for your videos. I love how you said "you need to be strong, and a bit crazy to master these" I'm everything you said, besides a vegan. I had to retire from contact matches due to brain damage, but I still practice everything. thank you for your videos in keeping me motivated.
Marvel is the main reason i’m doing taekwondo even though I also want to do tricking, karate and Kung fu. I’m also a biiiig fan of Elektra (Daredevil fans understand)
Eli Grayson Nice to see a fellow comic fan, judging by your profile pic you seem like a daredevil fan, I’m more of a Spider-Man, X-Men and Thor fan but Daredevil is definitely up there as one of my fav heroes to me he’s in the same tier as Hulk, Fantastic four and avengers
My real life inspiration for getting into martial arts was being forced by my parents to attend a Jiu Jitsu class. I stopped doing Jiu Jitsu but I think I will return again soon. My cartoon inspiration was Dragon Ball Z.
Raphael was my favorite. He told it how it was. Quote from first motion picture if I may. Raphael to foot soldiers: "You guys must be studying the bridge book of ninja fighting" In good fun just one example 😁
Leo is m favorite because, not only does he fight bad guys. He also has to be strong enough to lead his brothers. And sometimes he has to redirect there intentions as well
@J Minor you don't have to be rude. He's just sharing his opinion, you don't have to insult him. Simply share your favorite and why. That's the right way to do it, or just don't answer at all.
Likewise, for myself, it was TMNT for cartoons with Rafael as my hero. I always thought that the Sai was a perfect weapon for countering a Sword or other bladed weapon. I also always felt it was an incredible defensive weapon as it seems perfect not to attack but rather counter attack. In my opinion, it was not a weapon you used to start a fight but rather the one you pick to end it.
Martial arts has always been my passion ever since I was a child but didn't study it until I was 20 My first style was kickboxing then I got into Chinese martial arts when I was 26 and took me 3 1/2 years too be black sash now I take Xing Yi and Tai Chi My cartoon inspiration was Power Rangers,DragonBall series, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Batman
My real life inspiration was probably a simple argument I had with my father about the skill of a Medieval Knight, which got me into history and research, and eventually HEMA, and later, I would train in Shorinji Kenpo for 9 years. As for cartoons, Kung Fu Panda is a big influence for me.
Just bought Sai's for my son and I for Xmas (we're both 2nd Dans), love your work with this weapon, excellent stuff and thank you for sharing on youtube :)
TMNT is my martial arts inspirations and a big part of my childhood as well as Power Rangers, along with those martial arts actors such as Bruce Lee, Jet Li and Jackie Chan. So your favorite turtle is Mikey and you like Raph’s weapon… I’m on the other two turtles, Leo is my favorite but I’ve always liked Donnie’s weapon, who is the turtle is play as when playing the video game.
is like a hand guard , while the other yoru/prong that goes back up catches the sword or staff and you can pry it trap it lock, since that other prong going down, your finger can grab that to apply full force, you don't really pry sword or staff with the prong, the main aim is to catch your attacker's/opponent's wrist and bring them down to their knees and to the floor to hold them , also it is called the Manji Sai as it almost looks like the swastika

I really enjoyed your video. Seeing you demonstrate how to use a pair of sai was absolutely fantastic. Like you I grew up watching the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon which definitely got me interested in the Martial Arts. I also grew up watching the first movie that came out in 1990 which in my opinion is still the best representation of the Ninja Turtles in a live action setting. With that being said, my favorite Turtle is Raphael. All of the reasons most people dislike him are the exact reasons why I love him. I also really like how he’s the oldest, the largest, and the most intimidating out of the four and the sai happens to be my favorite Martial Art weapon. I like the idea that the sai can defeat the sword if the user knows the proper techniques.
+許嘉謙 well there is smarter ways to explain it. If you speak like that you just look kind of mean. I'm not saying you're bad but I'm just saying be careful
My favorite Cartoon shows, Ninjago and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles inspired me to take Martial Arts like karate, and unlock my own special talents. #TMNT🐢 and #Ninjago🗡
The reason I started martial arts is because I've always been really into weapons like swords and knives. I wanted to do something similar and, as it was the only style available to me at that time, started doing Judo. I stopped with it for a couple of years and I've been doing Tai-Jitsu for two years now and just picked up training with tonfa. The video you posted about tonfa is also how I got to your channel. I really enjoy your video's and I feel very motivated to learn how to wield even more weapons. Thank you
Wow man, out of the couple of videos I've watched, this one kicked my butt with the stance! LOL! It was an actual lesson! I practiced Karate when I was younger but that was a long time ago. Favorite Turtle Michelangelo, Favorite weapon was Leonardo's.
First off he is not holding a sai. He is holding a manji sai. Second is holding them wrong, holding them the way he is holding them may get your hands injured.
Over 30 years with this weapon. You NEVER hold the sai extended with your fingers wrapped around the guard. That is a self-taught, open tournament bastardisation. Thumb goes on the hub/weld when the sai are extended. Index finger along the handle when in retracted position. The shaft can also be gripped for throws/strikes, as in Higana No Sai kata...
I think you guys are bad critics this guy knows what he's doing and he is good at showing us that your too busy trying to find the name of the Sai and looking for flaws that you failed to notice the whole tutorial I think you should congratulate the gut as a skilled martial artist and leave it at that because he displayed his skills you guys only displayed negative comments
I DO NOT KNOW THE CHINESE USE SAI. I HV YET TO SEE SAI AS CHINESE TRADITIONAL WEAPON. BUT I SAW SAI OR TEKPI IN MANY MALAY/ INDONESIAN MARTIAL ART SYLLABUS .
You asked what my real life inspiration is for practicing the martial arts. I started practicing martial arts as a boy fresh out of high school as a way to keep me away from drugs. to give me a more positive way to spend my time. Miyamoto Musashi and his book of five rings are the main reasons for me getting into martial arts. I have always been fascinated with the art of the sword. As far as cartoon inspiration goei have to admit that I too was sucked in by the ninja turtles and was always a fan of Leo and his two ninjato with raph and his sai close behind. Once again I thank you for taking time out of your day to make these posts. I rather enjoy them and find them to be quite handy little tidbits. Also I would like to wish you , your students, and your family a very happy holiday season this year. May nothing but joy and peace surround you.

After watching several videos on using the sai you come to have an appreciation for how the sai fits Raph's temperament and personality.
So uh...Jake Mace timed that 60 seconds of horse stance with complete accuracy. 2:25 - 3:25! That's impressive all on its own

Sir: what is the purpose of the inverted prong versus the traditional sai prongs where they both point forward
It's just personal preference I guess. Some find it easier like that.
is like a hand guard , while the other yoru/prong that goes back up catches the sword or staff and you can pry it trap it lock, since that other prong going down, your finger can grab that to apply full force, you don't really pry sword or staff with the prong, the main aim is to catch your attacker's/opponent's wrist and bring them down to their knees and to the floor to hold them , also it is called the Manji Sai as it almost looks like the swastika
