+Ernesto Rodriguez I think you truely honor things when you use them. Not using them is not what things are for. Exept for paintings but that makes their use so... I don't know :D
Like a real life Tony Stark!;) I'm not a builder in the same sense that you are, I create art/graphic design, and I am a Martial Artist so I am doubly impressed, I would love to learn metal work, great job sir, your skills and craftsmanship are superb;)
Actually sais do not have sharp sides, they are stabbing and striking weapons. part of the technique in using them involves grabbing the pointy side and striking with the end of the hilt. if it were sharp you would cut your hand. but regardless of that, this is another nice job. visually very appealing, looks cool.
I noticed it as well while growing up particularly with Raph, Milenna and Elektra, and I concluded with: they must have modified their sais to be able to use as well as climbing tools, and be able to cut ropes, and pierce through flesh like nails. Plus they are fictional

SomeUrbanNinja There was no need to repeat it, but there was no need for you to comment on it either. And yet, here you are, in all your disgusting, cheeto-smeared glory.
Leonhardt Victorion There was no need for you to comment on my comment, nor was it any of your business. In all your Pizza-faced, Boar Gut, diabetes glory.
Its interesting that he sharpened the edges of a Sai. Sai's were designed more as stabbing/disarming weapons, not slashing. But I guess it is cooler looking with an edge.
Interesting didn't know that, all I knew is they were originally developed by farms who were rebelling and they used what they farming tools(pitch fork for this I assume)
Ravenclawfire Most of the weapons made are farm related or inspired the japanese weapons for example back when they had ninjas and all that they were firstly nothing more than farmers who learned how to make better "equipment" to help with there jobs
you are the real blacksmith. u should make your own tips and trick or tutorial video how to be a blacksmith. you can make an ebook and sell it. cause those working experience, precisition, and technique we're rarely seen to day. and definetely worth to share
Not sure if you have already made some or all of these but: Freddy Krueger's claws; Street Fighter Vega's claw (a bit like Wolverine's but straighter and attached on the outside of the hand); the various spikes and pads of TMNT The Shredder; Skeletor's Havoc Staff (I guess the staff is made of wood, but the ram's head could be light metal); the arm contraption Travis from Taxi Driver uses to fling out a gun with; TMNT Splinter's walking cane which hides a blade inside; He-Man's power harness; Magneto's helmet (not sure if that is made of metal though?); the big ass knives the mecha suits from Avatar are armed with (which are probably actually more the size of a sword than a knife).
These look amazing! I am astounded by the amazing detail! I would love to see ONIMUSHA weapons designed! There are at least a dozen but the Raisan katana would be just too cool to see in real life!
Todd Whelan yes I do meen the current swords.... thing is though...... they are made out of 50xsteel(I made that up lol) which meens that he can cut.... basically anything
Wow! sais these were beautiful! Raphael is one of my favorite characters and emotion has been to see his sais as they are in real life. The part that is the end of the handle of the sai was my favorite part, it was great!
Sais were used by the Japanese police forces long time ago. There aren't any cutting edges is sais and the "blade" part isn't much used. The hilt is the striking part, and the thorns are used to block attacks and un-arm enemies. Thorns can be used to hit the enemy by plunging the spike in to their back of their head, and hit them in the face with the other sai's hilt simuntaineously. Sais can be also thrown in soft places on enemies bodies, like foot-table, so the sai would get stuck on the ground through the enemys foot and the thorns would stop the enemy from moving his leg.
idk much about sais but i do practice kobudo and karate, and in practicing the 2 sai katas that i know, there is no cutting strike, BUT there are several strikes with the "blade" which as you said isnt a blade at all, just sharp at the tip. also i was taught that sais were originally used by farmers to poke holes in the ground to plant seeds, is this incorrect?
adamushu You are correct, but i meant by: "blade" that it isn't sharp on the edges, just the tip is sharp. And yes, there are several strikes with the blade, but i was saying not much strikes compared, to the hilt
Now wait.. Hold up! Pause real quick.. These are real life weapons.. You made.. By eye?! Now this is something that makes me wanna learn this! And never have money anymore!
I'd like to note that he does mention he sent his design off to Kevin Eastman, one of the co-creators. He got his approval for the design, so even if they aren't made like traditional sais, and they aren't quite true "Raphael sais".. he got the green light for his take on the weapon from one of the guys that thought it up. That's the next best thing in my book.
I noticed that with a lot of your weapons you thread the tang and pommel instead of having them peened together. Is there any specific reason for that? Does one make a stronger bond over the other?
Enjoy seeing each pieces being forge out and combine together to create Raphael's Sai in this episode and wow as he mentioned everything will goes through his eyes and being hammered no computer copies files stuff involved in his work there 👏👍👏👍.
EliteKillers01 Actually its a Hollywood made sword. You can tell its not a katana because it doesn't have the same curvature as a typical katana. Also there are multiple articles, videos, etc. saying without a doubt Leos swords are not any part of Japanese weaponry what so ever and were just created for the comics, movies, etc. But they do have a typical appearance of katanas so I can see how one would make that presumption
Lavie Rakoover Sorry, its a katana witouth the curve, it looks like katana except the curve, it hase that tip but slightly more pointed... sorr yea its not katana its just a bad made katana
I guess that could make sense without getting at eachothers throats. Guess the original comic artist just decided to take the concept of a katana and straighten it out more than usual
why are people super annoying just watch and enjoy if not then don't its so easy. i love everything you make its so rad to see these things being made for real life use so awesome!
Pelaaja93 The ninjatō is more likely based from the ancient chokutō (dated as pre-10th century)than the katana(mid15th to early 16th century). Since there's no way to tell exactly when shinobi adopted/created the ninjatō, it'd be a safer bet to go with the older design being the base. Even though shinobi are closely associated with the 15th century; there's evidence that they may have been around as early as the 12th century and earlier, meaning they very likely would've based their sword on a refined version of a weapon already in existence at the time, the chokutō, rather than a sword based from a sword based from a sword (tachi -> uchigatana -> katana).
I think it's really damn cool that blacksmiths are still around today. I understand that they do other things, than creating weapons and such, but it's still awesome. I especially like when they forge actual swords, though. I am a fan of swords. Not just the ones that you hang up on the wall and are not to be fought with, but the ones that are designed to to in battle.
Michael hall Ow, ok. I was thinking that it would suck your hand into the machine and crush it or rip it off. Not that burning your hand sounds ok, but he calls it the "most dangerous".
Cause buffer wheels are famous for "grabbing" the blade and trowing it back at the person in front of the buffer. Has nothing to do with sucking your hand into the machine.
MrGc6asl Yeah, yeah. I knew the "sucking your hand" was just my imagination. I just didn't know why they were so dangerous. So... They can "polish" your hand to the bones and trow the peice back at you. Yup! Sounds like a wheel of death alright.
Well, he is not supposed to sell it but all those weapons are in his personal vault. Also selling copyrighted products without previlleges is crime and on some weapons he took previlleges from the creators and he especially can't sell those.
I liked the interpretation of the sai you did, and I don't really care that they aren't necessarily that accurate to the source, and I vehemently disagree with people who complain about them. Raphael was always my favorite of the turtles, and I really like the way these blades came out.

Idk who was questioning his blacksmithing abilities, sure lots of stuff is cut out with a band saw and grinded with a belt grinder, but he forges plenty of things and heat treats everything properly. A man of many talents haha
This is some amazing stuff you do. I've just really started watching your videos, but you sir, are not a blacksmith. You're a Blacksmithing MASTER.
one small issue sais don't have cutting edges, parrying weapons used for trapping blades by twisting
Well, that and they're blunt, they're used for applying blunt trauma in rapid succession
+Mikkel Algarheim ................... you know you could just say that they were used to break swords
BehindTheTrigger no, because that implies that that´s the only thing they´re used for
***** ehhh.
+TheDarkalkymist Not Raphael's, he clearly uses them as cutting weapons.
you use a piece of American history on a daily basis! Good for you!
+Ernesto Rodriguez I think you truely honor things when you use them. Not using them is not what things are for. Exept for paintings but that makes their use so... I don't know :D
Like a real life Tony Stark!;) I'm not a builder in the same sense that you are, I create art/graphic design, and I am a Martial Artist so I am doubly impressed, I would love to learn metal work, great job sir, your skills and craftsmanship are superb;)

bahaha there are not computer files, i hit it with a hammer :P
thanks... We've seen the video clip.. no need to repeat what was said.
SomeUrbanNinja There was no need to repeat it, but there was no need for you to comment on it either. And yet, here you are, in all your disgusting, cheeto-smeared glory.
Leonhardt Victorion There was no need for you to comment on my comment, nor was it any of your business. In all your Pizza-faced, Boar Gut, diabetes glory.
and here i am. sarting this stupid argue. :P
i think, you two should choose a weapon from the 'Man at Arms" armory and fight it out to settle this.its the only way.
Its interesting that he sharpened the edges of a Sai. Sai's were designed more as stabbing/disarming weapons, not slashing. But I guess it is cooler looking with an edge.
Sais were mostly used for crowd control, by police. sharpening them is like adding a blade to a modern police baton.
Actually, he only sharpened the edges because that's how Raf's said are shaped.
Tyler Cartier sais were orginally bluntly pointed metal rods used for planting rice
you are the real blacksmith. u should make your own tips and trick or tutorial video how to be a blacksmith.
you can make an ebook and sell it.
cause those working experience, precisition, and technique we're rarely seen to day.
and definetely worth to share
The Sacred Blade from Farcry 3

Colby Davis You think they are any different?
They weren't used by officers they were used by Gardners to rebel against them

I'd like to note that he does mention he sent his design off to Kevin Eastman, one of the co-creators. I noticed that with a lot of your weapons you thread the tang and pommel instead of having them peened together. Is there any specific reason for that? Does one make a stronger bond over the other?

leo's double ninja swords
Katanas... Nothing special in them
Pelaaja93 okay leo's katana's
Pelaaja93 actually ninjato
which is based of Katana, or its shorter brother wakizashi
Pelaaja93 The ninjatō is more likely based from the ancient chokutō (dated as pre-10th century)than the katana(mid15th to early 16th century). Could you do Inigo Montoya from the Princess Bride's Sword

Awsome!
+
Yes!!!!!
But....sai actually exist....
I was also a bit surprised to see a normal japanese weapon to be done. Oh well
why is the buffer wheel so dangerous again?
If you touch them they will literally destroy your skin, it is like a mix of burning and ripping your skin off
Michael hall Ow, ok. I was thinking that it would suck your hand into the machine and crush it or rip it off. Not that burning your hand sounds ok, but he calls it the "most dangerous".
Djanck000 It turns so fast the even touching it for a second would do far more than burn your skin. In fact it could go to the bone
Wow! Those Sais Look totally Awesome.

Well, he is not supposed to sell it but all those weapons are in his personal vault. Also selling copyrighted products without previlleges is crime and on some weapons he took previlleges from the creators and he especially can't sell those.
I'd really love to get some tho :/ very disappointing. Maybe I'll be blacksmith then.
Especially goddamn hitgirl's sword
dante's rebellion

I liked the interpretation of the sai you did, and I don't really care that they aren't necessarily that accurate to the source, and I vehemently disagree with people who complain about them. Raphael was always my favorite of the turtles, and I really like the way these blades came out.
Did he literally say that was pretty bitchin?
Ailex Mercer. yes
Pleace make raidens sword from metal gear solid reveangence
you might wanna comment this on one of the newer videos and its please not pleace :P

Oh here comes the spellcheckers of youtube.
These are daggers... I have real Sai and I train with them and Sai are not daggers and have rounded, hexagonal, or octagonal baton like sides. Not blades. Also these are very tiny compared to most Sai. Most sai are built to easily guard a forearm whilst these are tiny. I know forging weapons is hard but you could of at least looked at what a Sai actually is.
Originally, sai were used for crowd control like a police baton. But now thanks to movies and stuff they have been changed into dagger-like weapons.
There's a difference between forging a functional weapon and forging a weapon to look like a cartoon- if he wanted to forge an actual sai then I imagine he would research how a real sai is constructed, but since he's forging a cartoon sai that's exactly what he forged.
AGrumpyPanda If he is forging raphiel's sai then they are still sai. Even in the thumbnail look at the sai, they have a completely rounded shaft and not a blade.
Yeah but these are ninja sai, not police sai.
SiegeTF Ninja sai and police sai are the same model...
This just proves that Raphael was my favorite Ninja Turtle. LOVE those sais, man!
Gotta give this guy credit for not using any CNC programming. Doing all this by hand is a lot more work and requires a good eye. I honestly prefer manual work like this myself. Kinda miss this guy making weapons on this channel.
Damn... I wish I could own those... (yes, they're dangerous, I would have them in a safe place to avoid problems), precious work, huge Raphael fan!
dude as a huge Turtles fan. THIS IS AWESOME!
Love it! Raphael is my favorite turtle,
Kick ass job!
I'm reading y'all's comments and yes you guys are correct but they were also balanced well so they could be thrown like throwing knifes. And think about it he didn't have to make them for your enjoyment so thank you man at arms for making this time more enjoyable.
This episode has some of the best dialogue.
