    I bought the 2014 6-speed version, all black with the 4 into 1 stainless exhaust. It has more power than I legally use on public roads, it’s smooth and comfortable and dies everything a rider needs it to do. It’s not a sport bike and wasn’t designed to be one. It’s a “standard” and a very good one at that.

    in a world where USD forks are the norm, perhaps old school forks can now be classed as inverted

  • @jeffreymansfield453
    @jeffreymansfield453 6 лет назад +7

    Well what the heck people. Look at the obvious it is a bike meant to ride and feel like the last gen air cooled CB bikes. Of course the RS is not nimble, it is quite top heavy by design. See that big lump on top of it, that is a real fuel tank full of heavy fuel. The frame geometry if favored for ground clearence raising the center of gravity. So by todays standard it is not a nimble machine. Am certain Honda was not aiming for that but instead a retro engined bike with modern and better suspension-brakes. For that idea I would say Honda nailed it.

    If you listen to what he's saying he's spot on(forks aside). This is NOT a sporty bike but one for taking relaxing rides. When I see one with a loud pipe or cafe'd out it strikes me how out of character it is with the bike. It's a pleasant, satisfying rider but not exciting.

  • @MrBoybergs

    Nothing wrong with this review. Useful points made about the differences between the two models. And I agree with the previous point made below; when the majority of current medium to high-end bikes have 'upper shock' forks then maybe 'lower shock forks' should now be referred to as inverted or USD.

    MCN - you do realise that if your footage doesn't come across so well on the first take, you can do it again? I don't blame the reviewer - just typical of MCN's "it'll do" attitude.

    The inverted fork pun surely was on purpose to show Honda the RS model SHOULD have been fitted with said forks to distinguish the two models and make 17" wheels look and feel at home on the RS. Well done!

    I think the disappointment with the ride on the RS might have been because he didn't adjust the suspension settings front and back.

  • @Ryzen_56X
    @Ryzen_56X 7 лет назад +1

    Yes the european low emission E4 is at fault for the low powered machines that will be produced in the future, the best combination for Honda in this case is that they should of reborn the CB750 and made it the new RS (CB750RS) not with a big bore engine 1100cc. Which will be priced at 14.150euros here in europe, expensive as hell for a 90BHP 1100cc bike.

    The best thing about pre technology bikes was that they scared you. I own a Gen 1 Hayabusa, no ABS, no traction control etc. 175 bhp...imagine that in the wet. My heart pounds as i walk up to it and thats how bikes should be. I can overtake anything, and i mean anything, but when that back wheel spins on that white line its adrenalin plus....just saying.

    0:43 he said the chassy is sportier on the RS. Then at the end of the vid he says it has the same EX chassy, but with 17" wheels. Then says it feels forced to work with the smaller wheels.

  • @jsprite123
    @jsprite123 5 лет назад +1

    Interesting note on the turning effort on the RS. I've seen other YT videos where the RS is said to be easier to lean & turn than the EX precisely because it has 17" wheels as opposed to 18".

    Beautiful Motorcycle the 1100ex. Does justice to the meaning of "Retro". Though I am disappointed that it does not have traction control in addition to ABS (which it does have). It seems to carry it weight well. And handles better than the New Triumph T-120 on twisting roads and also is air/oil cooled engine (less future maintance cost). I think it is slightly over priced (considering traction control is missing) for a Honda. It would also have been a plus if Honda used a belt drive instead of chain drive (again less maintance and cost of same). Otherwise a definite win of Honda, IMO.

    I like the retro naked look, but the Kawasaki z900rs is lighter and still has PLENTY of power. Also I hate spoke wheels. Too difficult to clean. At least they are stainless, which is MUCH better than chromed steel spokes.

  • @drumbofrench4502
    @drumbofrench4502 7 лет назад +6

    Love the looks of these bikes but I see three problems: 1) Price, they're overpriced, 2) Weight should have been more like 230-235 kg, 250-255 kg is unnecessarily heavy, and 3) Power, they are no performance bikes but I'd expect 100 hp at least, particularly given the weight.

    • @johntheaccountant5594
      @johntheaccountant5594 3 года назад +3

      Not overpriced when you see the quality of build and how little plastic there is on it. The weight is not relevant, it is not a racing machine.

    170 mile tank range, really? Why can't they put a bigger tank on to give us 200+ miles. I bet you wouldn't notice a visual difference in size to add an extra gallon. They are not race reps, don't need thimbles for tanks!

      Hategplus crevis Good eye! Yes, it looks like a momentary rear-brake lock-up...we all know how it must look, anyone who's ridden for awhile has done it, the instant release, & how it pops back vertical. The circumstances are all there, wet road, a bit too fast (for the cameras), some rear bias application, an upcoming slow right-hander...I'm surprised the editor didn't notice the riding 'mistake' & edit out the footage.

    I dont think the wheel is stainless is it? Maybe spokes only, hmmm not got a lot of faith in this review if the fork type isnt even known, Ive sort have lost interest.
    Anyway Honda should have put 4 pipes on it, it sounds/looks way better.
    In fact the old SOHC is just a better bike and its reviewed by someone that knows what hes talking about, just way more interesting to listen too.....or is it just me?
