Thanks for the correction guys. Most of the items sold at DAISO in the US are priced at $1.50, with some exceptions e.g. the peeler gloves.
emmymadeinjapan where did you buy the rice seasoning ?!
emmymadeinjapan in Australia they're $2.50 :(
Actually they're 2.80$ or 3$ in Melbourne but they have 'bigger' products that aren't even 3$ but 10$+

+Tenzin Teselha I buy my Furikake at my local Asian market- you can get pretty big canisters of them for $2.99 in all sorts of flavours. The packages she was holding up are small, individuals packets and those are more expensive, usually on ebay or amazon. I LIVE on furikake, it totally changed rice for me, I love it!!
I also love sweet soy sauce!! I put it on everything :)
I bet those gloves would also be great for opening jars and whatnot.
I use a piece of decorative shelf liner hanging on my oven handle.
Everything I own is black, grey, and metal so I bought a roll of black shelf liner and had some excess, and one day I discovered it works incredibly well for opening jars, twisting stuck bulbs without breaking them... etc.
They make a ton of colors, patterns and styles. I'm sure you could find a roll that matches your stuff pretty easily. I just trimmed my extra to be a perfect rectangle, stitched some black ribbon around the edge and put a leather loop on it.. I never ended up using the loop though lol I'm just a crafty dude and can't help going waaaay overboard on everything I do ;P haha
Anyway, it's s cool tip. Try it out?
Great to know.
I use a silicone circle. It's about 6" diameter & flat. I got one from a health fair & one from a grocery give away. I love them.
I've seen people use thin disposable gloves too. They don't even put them on, just use the outside.
I've seen success with vinyl, silicone, nitrile & latex. I think the key is: anything that grips & holds helps.
i thought it was for dishwashing before seeing emmy😅
My parents boil eggs TO DEATH. They put the eggs in when the water is cold and leave the pot on the stove for like 30 minutes or more. The yolks get this weird light grey color around the outsides and they're so dry I end up choking on the things lol If you made an egg boiling tutorial, I would show it to my parents lol
Mone Moore SAME RAWR XD
Yeah, they're over boiling them. Try suggesting maybe 5 minutes less. It should still be as hard as they like without that funky taste lmao.
Mone Moore the only thing they have to change is to turn off the hotplate as soon as previously cold water with eggs boils, move it onto a flat non-metal surface and leave it all covered for 30 minutes without peeking. You'll have some good hard boiled eggs without any overcooking. Since your parents already "waste" 30 minutes, this would be the exact correction for them without any time adjustment needed.
Mone Moore I love eggs with blue yolk lol
Susie Ain't Your Friend you, my friend, are very strong lol
This is what a cooking show would look like if Dora the explorer hosted it.
''Any idea what this might be?'' ''Any idea what these might be for?''
'' Yes Dora, looks like a peeler to me.''
''That's correct,it's a spatula!''
Hilarious!!!
CAMEDESIGN Emmy you are so good natured
emmymadeinjapan you are so good natured
I'd watch that kind of cooking show XD
You're ofcourse the better looking version of her!

Emmy: hello my beautiful lovelies!
Me: :)
Be sure to check out my Facebook page facebook.com/itsemmymadeinjapan/ where I'll be doing a giveaway of these gadgets.
Amy Arellano Yes, she has 2 boys
emmymadeinjapan please do the boiling egg episode. i heat the water with the eggs.. i tried to put cold eggs in hot water and my eggs cracked .. i love hard boiled eggs but i cant make them lol
Xeidasx it's pretty simple. First bring the water to a rolling boil, and done people say add a splash of vinegar to keep the eggs from cracking. Carefully lower the eggs into the pot and boil for 5-10 minutes. For easier peeling dump the eggs in cold ice water straight after they are done
12 Volts Lol you're good

LOL I gasped also when you opened up to find perfectly made rice balls haha!! I was shook!
In the summer our family picks and husks hundreds of dozens of corn. The gloves would be perfect to get all the "silk" off of the corn. I hate picking it off one piece at a time.
gmo corn?
Get a corn brush, it’s round with soft bristles and you slip it over the corn and then slide it back and forth over it until it’s all off.
If you boil the potato for a bit those gloves should work as intended
Peeler gloves would be great for getting pet fur off couch.
Not to sound like a psychopath, but it would probably work for getting fur off of an animal as well.. lol
My dog has super dense fur and her brush loads up instantly, so we vacuum her but she clogs the vacuum up! We've tried special expensive brushes, trimmings... everything. We live in FL so we don't want her to be hot an miserable! She's so damn fluffy though, I might honestly try thise gloves. They look like they'd work, depending on how sticky they are...
danteelite You don’t sound crazy!! They actually do make gloves for that. :)
@@thelegendofzoey Hunh. Do they? I'm gonna look into that, I actually considered buying these ones to try out !
I'll see if I can find the real dealio.
Thanks! :]
Rice ball maker!!!
We have the "PiepEi" (direct translation = peep egg) which is a plastic egg which you place in cold water with your real eggs and then bring to a boil. The PiepEi will start beeping different songs when the eggs are soft/medium/hard, so far it never disappointed me :) You can get several editions that have classical music, rock songs, etc, often with (bad) egg-related puns in the titels.
Emmy when you brought up the boiling egg tutorial, I think it would be cool if you did sort of a back to basics series where you show your techniques for simpler things :)) loved this vid by the way!
Your profile pic is adorable!
your videos are so organized and just overall great😊👍 *congratulations* 🎁🎉🎊
I absolutely adore you and always relax watching your show.
Your upbeat attitude and calm demeanor is soothing. This makes content so much more enjoyable, easier to digest and I find myself watching lots of videos consecutively.
Thanks Emmy 💕
I was raised by parents who didn’t know how to cook. These videos are so helpful and informative. I love the way she describes things and uses scientific facts. Keep making these amazing videos !!
Kenji's new method of steaming to make hard boiled eggs is the best! I made a dozen boiled eggs with zero sticking.
Ooo, I've yet to try it.
maybe you can make this into a video Emmy! :) Would be interesting to see!
+emmymadeinjapan The egg shell sticking has to do with how fresh your eggs and not how you cook them. If the eggs are fresh they will stick, that is why you need to use eggs that are more than a week old at least. So buy fresh eggs for poaching, frying and so on and leave some older eggs for boiling.
All above is true. As for me I just go along with sticky eggs :)
There is also, I found, a small trouble with boiling water if you wish your eggs to remain without any fractures in the shell (like when in Poland you want at least a dozen whole ones to do "pisanki" - which is basically painting them or drawing on them whatever you like (this years kids in my family went with lots of black crayon ;) ), a kind of thing you do here for Easter) there is a better chance they will crack due to temperature diffrence. Though with normal eggs it doesn't really matter :)
What did/are you going to have for dinner?
General Tso's Chicken!
emmymadeinjapan some tofu and noodles! classic lol
"Omelets" that I was once again too impatient for and ended up scrambling. :D I'd like to see your hard-boiled egg method. I've been trying out different ones this past year, but still don't have a favorite.
Butternut squash soup.
emmymadeinjapan I had cueritos en chile which is basically chunks of pork with skin in a thick salsa-like sauce.
I literally get so excited for your videos ! Especially these gadget ones!!!!!!
Love these types of videos em. Keep it up, they're amazing!
I've always peeled eggs under running water, makes everything so much easier.
The eggs would peel much better if you put them into an ice water bath right after - regardless of how long you cook them :)
ChaoticShelly The first one was definitely undercooked even for the soft boiled state. the white wasn't set. May be there's a different way of cooking. Like boiling the water and then putting in eggs and timer
Himani U that Asian soft egg.
Cesar Battistini Maziero I'm Asian. That's nobody's soft egg lol It's just undercooked.
Himani U in some parts of Japan that is a soft egg.
Himani U in Singapore, we genuinely eat them at that consistency with soy sauce and white pepper for breakfast. We do refer to it as “soft boiled”
Love watching your kitchen gadgets tool videos! Love you! Thanks and Blessings! 🙏🏻😀❤️
Loved this video! Such unique gadgets!
That rice baller was great. I love Furikake on my rice. 🌻
Make sure that the furikake is not made in communist china. Read the labels closely even if it is sold by the Japanese company.
I love your joy when you saw that the rice ball gadget worked nicely :)
I have a friend who's daughter won't eat rice unless it is in balls. I thought she was crazy to do that instead of saying 'just eat your rice'. I'm a mean mommy. :(
Emmy I just wanted to say I love your videos! They keep me entertained for hours 😃 Love from UK and Norway!
The mandoline I picked up at Daiso works surprisingly well! I also love it for little prep dishes and all my dishwashing supplies. Very specific brushes and sponges that are cheap enough to replace often.
That rice ball shaker was cool. Didn't think it would work. Nice surprise. And yeah, those eggs seemed less of a Soft/Medium/Hard and more a Poached/Soft/Medium, to me.
RubyLovesRocket There's also a mini maki (mini/thin sushi) rice roll shaker! You literally shake the nori seaweed into the shaker to wrap the rice! There's videos on youtube for tutorials, try ochikeron's channel :) I have both shakers but I need to buy the rice, furikake seasonings and sushi fillings to use them!
I actually would really like to see an egg tutorial, like all types soft ,medium, hard, it would be cool to learn!
Love your videos, Emmy!!
your videos are so informative yet humorous
Thing is though, the eggs Emmy are using are huge! Maybe the timer will work better with smaller-sized eggs, assuming the Japanese have the same kind of hens as we do here in South East Asia
the rilakkuma seasoning was so cute oh my god
I looooooooove that recent videos are captioned! I've been silently following you for a while. I love your calming voice. I'm a teacher, so after a day of LOUD, I like to come home to quieter things. (My rabbits agree.)
I also really like how descriptive you are. It makes your videos accessible to a wide variety of people. ^^
I just chanced on your video. Looove it! Thanks for taking the time experimenting on these gadgets. I surely will watch your other videos. Thanks again. :)
I thought the rice ball maker was to shape boiled eggs for bento. It's soo cute!
I'd love to see how you prepare sunny-side up eggs. Mine always end up overcooked and too crispy.
Me too!
Then your pan's too hot. Have the pan at a medium heat, use half butter and half olive oil (though it doesn't matter much) and slide the eggs in. Put a lid on the skillet for the last 30 seconds to finish off the top of the egg before the 'white' burns.
Alan Mac Alternatively you can base the top of the egg with the melted butter to cook it.
thats what i do! put pan lid on medium heat, when whites are cooked i get a spoon and base the yolk with the oil till its a pale pink
The best way is to use a small pan and poor in a cm of good olive oil and then put in on the smallest heat possible, put in the eggs and use a spoon to put the olive oil over the white. This way you are poaching them instead of frying them, put some salt only after they are done cooking.
I love the rice shaker!! Looks like so much fun
The editing on this is fantastic. The music when you were making the rice balls was awesome.
I watched videos of peoole showing inside of Daiso and I need it in my life! It looks amazing!
Sari Masu *people*
Sari Masu aww thanks! I just started my channel so I only have one nail tutorial up at the moment but I appreciate it. 😊🤗
Sari Masu I have a video on my channel called encapsulated glitter nails. Mind you I just started & don't have the best lighting. But I'll have a new nail tutorial up tmrw!
I like your videos. Good luck with your channel! :)
Oh you do need it in your life its amazing ABSOLUTELY AMAZING
Yes make a video on how to boil eggs perfect.
***** They're doing pretty good. Got my kitties their own heater for this cold weather. Ricky keeps trying to use the heater to make chicken fingers on it tho. Thanks for asking and thanks for the tip.
+lepetitgarçonsinsocks That doesn't help at all, it doesn't take into consideration the different sizes of eggs, the temp of the eggs, the temp of the water, how you want your eggs, how fresh the eggs are and other things.
The best method I've found for making perfectly cooked and peel-able eggs (even with new eggs) is to steam them rather than boil them. Bring the water to a boil first, add the eggs to the steamer, cover and turn down to low (about 3 on the stove dial) and cook 15 minutes for hardboiled (no longer or they will overcook!) or 13-14ish minutes for a softer yolk. I then transfer mine to a bowl with ice water and let sit until cool.
I actually have one of those egg "timer" things, they are sold in American stores too. I don't use them to time hard boiled eggs, but rather soft and medium eggs which are trickier. And you learn by trial and error where on the timer those donenesses are for you. I like it for that purpose.
The rice baller looks useful too. I'll have to check my Daiso. I see a fun Japanese shopping trip in my future.
Yay I'm early! Hope you had a great Christmas and New Year's, Emmy! Love your videos :D
Whoevers reading this, you're a great person and you deserve the best
Thanks, man ✌🏻️ you too!
Sheys_Cosplay aww thank u!
Sheys_Cosplay thanks, I needed that
Thanks ☺️👍 you as well
Oh, shut up.
Those gloves would be great for cleaning makeup brushes!
With the texture on the gloves the way it is it would rip the hairs right out of the brush.
miss lilkev right. I bought one to clean my makeup brushes.
@@Dea_Ex_Machina they make gloves like this for cleaning brushes....it doesn't rip hairs out.
Hate to be gross but they would do great on sinks and tubs and...stuff. 🤢
My exgf does makeup professionally, and she has a special spray and mat to clean her good brushes, but her cheap ones she would shower with... lmao
She would take them into the shower, and while her hair conditioner sat for a few she would clean them with baby shampoo, then hang them upside down to dry and then like... I dunno.. _massage_ them or something? Idk.. it was wierd as hell. Maybe she was shaping them or something, idk.. it was her relaxing private time so I never asked. I'd just watch her work sometimes because it was cute watching her do tedious work.
Anyway, if you have a bunch of brushes and they aren't professional grade... just shower with them lol use baby shampoo or dawn soap like she did, and hang them upside down. Even I know you don't want water to sit in the metal bit around the brushy bits. If you have expensive ones... buy the spray. It's cheap, I've actually bought it for her a few times before. The mat is only a few bucks and the spray is like 5 bucks too. Cheap stuff.
You don't want to get acne or infections from using dirty brushes. Everyone has Staph bacteria in their nose and streptococcus in their pores... spread that shit around and.... very bad. Haha
Hope this helps.
Dating a makeup doer girl had it's benefits if I can use some of what I learned to help others. Especially about being clean, you'd be surprised how often people get infections or pink eye from makeup brushes. They sit in your bathroom, you go poop, you flush, poop particles land on your stuff, you wipe poop onto your face and into your eyes. Infection.
Always store your makeup outside of the bathroom and sanitize your stuff regularly with 91% Iso Alcohol (you can buy it at the dollar tree and put it in a spritz bottle) to kill germs.
Good luck! Lol
I love the music when you were shaking the rice balls. I want one too!
I love the lights behind you. Soooo cute ^_^ Great video as always Emmy!
I would like to see a video about how to boil eggs properly.
I fail miserably at it even though I follow instructions for it.
The rice ball thing is too cute!!!!! Also Emmy I have a question about the seasoning that you put on the rice balls. What is it exactly? Like an herb mix? Is that something typical of Japan to add a seasoning mix like that to rice? Hope you are having a great 2017 so far! xo
Ropodog tru
Ropodog I recently found the same rice ball and rice roll (mini sushi roll) shakers on ebay but I haven't used them yet! Furikake is usually used to make plain rice taste better. The seasonings are quite nice and there are also coloured seasonings to make rice pink, yellow etc!
Thank you so much for the info!! That is too cool!! I will need to look and see if I can find some I really want to try it out!
Ropodog The seasoning usually contains nori, sesame seeds, and some kind of dried fish. Another popular one is ume I think. :)
Amy He That's correct! There's also one with dried Egg (Tamago) and even tiny dried fish!
This is actually such an awesome video Emmy! So many things I would use! haha
I love how she is just so calm and not trying to yell at the camera how some you tubers do
That rice ball maker is possible to be used for meatballs also?
The rice ball shaper!!!
My daisuki!!!
Hi Emmy keep on doing more kitchen gadget videos I always love your content keep what you're doing

The egg cook video is not silly, I think it's going to get you a lot of traffic over time.
I want you to get to a million subs already! I've been watching your videos for a long time. You definitely deserve for more people to see and love your amazing content. ❤️❤️
More gadget testing videos and more cooking videos please. I love them so much! Also love when videos are long like this one
I wanna boil the video dedicated to boiling an egg if you have time.
try the gloves with cooked vegetables, should work
Love this series!
I love Daiso! It's one of my favourite stores ever. You can find such interesting things in there.
You're SO PRETTY!!!! I'm actually quite surprised that you be got children....you look so young!!!
My dad is a research chemist and his friend invented the egg timer!! The Japanese ones are SO MUCH CUTER than the American egg timers.....the American ones are just plain red!!!
OncNurseSpursSoccerChick Clayton Emmy is in her mid 30's, it must be her Chinese heritage that keeps her looking so lovely!
I actually love going to Daiso shop. I buy gadgets mostly that i can use. True not all the stuff is great but at least its something 😆
I love the face you get when you just don't like something, but still want to keep cheerful.
The sound you made at 6:41 made me rewind a couple of times for a great laugh!
You don't peel a soft boiled egg Emmy. You put it in an egg cup, cut the lid off and dip buttered soldiers in it 😀 Hmmmmmmmmm!
+Gina I'm American, what's a buttered soldier?
Sarah Moorhead - You toast slices of bread, butter them, then cut them in to strips (like an inch and a half wide). We call those buttered strips soldiers 😀 Then you dip those in to your soft boiled egg. You'll need an egg cup to sit the egg in 😉 Best breakfast EVER. My kids love it!
Gina Sounds delicious!! In Singapore we serve it in a bowl alongside some soy sauce and black pepper
I don't understand why you're peeling a soft boiled egg... Do Americans not have boiled egg and soldiers? Also I'm surprised by how different American vs UK egg-states are: To me theyre are all spot on!
Vedder Palmer American here. I'd never heard of boiled egg and soldiers or even seen an egg cup until I married my English husband. I don't even know anyone who eats soft boiled eggs here. I definitely think such things are uncommon here.
Alyxandria Getliff I find that strangely sad, given it was such a staple during my childhood. I wonder why it is- possibly related to the increased likelihood of getting salmonella? Or just one of those things without a particular reason. Do you eat them now and, if you have tried it, was the different texture off-putting?
Vedder Palmer Now that you mention it, I wouldn't be surprised if the fear of salmonella is why we don't eat soft eggs. I think Americans are generally very conscious of salmonella, more so than any friends I have from outside the States. I personally have never tried a soft boiled egg, I generally just don't like eggs much to begin with. It looks very... slimy though, so I'm not to eager to try it anyways! 😬
Vedder Palmer nope we only have hard boiled eggs. I have never had a soft boiled egg.
Most salmonella are affected from the outer shell of the egg, meaning the some of the chicken poop got into the egg lol 😅 These days, eggs are process to be clean and somewhat safe compare to the old days 😊
Love your videos Emmy
i love your comment about how you teach your kids to use chopsticks
Why do you use a rice cooker. It seems to me like a waste of cabinet space because it is just as easy to use a pot
Jake Mullen have you ever used a rice cooker vs a pot? it's so much better imo, but to each their own.
I think it's better for people who eat a lot of rice? So you can make bigger batches. Also, maybe if you only had two burners on the stove and they were both taken up, you could use the rice cooker? So better for apartments, maybe.
Fair enough
Rice cooker keeps the rice warm so any time you need rice it's there!
As an Asian, we must have a rice cooker. If you don't have one, you're not truly an Asian basically 😅
I enjoyed this Emmy, please show the rest of the haul. X
The peeler gloves seem like they would work really well to really scrub clean russet potatoes for baked potatoes! I usually have to use a brand new scotch sponge with the green scrubby side every time I want to make baked potatoes. Yes it's just a sponge, but they aren't cheap and I only use them once on food. I love the flavor of the potato peel ( and retaining the nutrients! ) on my baked potatoes. The gloves obviously do not actually peel, but they would seem to work well as a thurough reusable scrubber for root vegetables! Thanks for your wonderful, honest, and very helpful reviews!!! You have saved me untold amounts of time, hastle and frustration, as well as money! THANK YOU! You are incredible and entertaining in every video you make! Love and Best Wishes from my Family to You & Your Family! Happy New Year!
OMGOSH I LOVE the rice ball maker and spoon so far! Awesome!
and yes pls, i would like to see a how to boil ab egg recipe, my hubby loves them
Ok, I'm getting that rice ball shaker! LOVE IT
I love Emmy and Daiso so much that I liked the video before it even started 😩❤️
I always find it hilarious to watch to the very last second of the video. It's worth it! 😂
I love your videos!
I love how you give your kids a bit more independence and authority over what they do. For a person with really strict parents I get anxiety and alot of problem with choices because i wasn't allowed anything as a child .
Yaaaay! I live for when Emmy says, "how stinkin cute"!!!
I LOOOOOVE the contradiction of the flaky egg yolk in the soft chewy egg white😍
Emmy, I have been watching your videos for a little over a year now and I am amazed at your genuinely warm attitude towards everything that you come across. I have recently lost my husband, (he passed away following a terrible accident while working on a DIY project at his mom's) and I have truly been battling whether or not to ask you and your followers for help. My sister was kind enough to start a gofundme page for me to help cover the costs of his medical bills, with your blessing, I would like to post the link within your comments section. Please let me know as I do not wish to impose or take anything away from your videos. Thank you truly for understanding!!
I love your videos ❤️
ILY EMMY ♡
Hello from France,Emmy! i love your videos!
I love this video!
I've always wanted to go here. It looks amazing!
Hello from California!! Thanks for all the videos you do for us, you're awesome :)
Your excitement about the rice-ball-shaker, lol
I'd love to see the egg boiling science video. It would be great to know! love your videos Emmy!
Love your videos Emmy. Can't understand why anyone clicks dislike on your videos. That being said, no one peels soft boiled eggs. They are supposed to be placed in an egg holder, then cut or cracked on the top of the shell and eaten with a spoon.
I really like the rice balls and chop stick holder!
I live for that laugh at 6:03 hahahaha emmy stop being so cute XD
omg that noise you made when showing the chopstick holder was CUTEEEEEE! I DIE! OMG
