Peter Jackson is best living man on Earth!!!! Before You guys start bitching as always about how he ruined the movie, only because You know The Hobbit book has 300 pages, and that's all You know, and You don't know that Tokien wrote adaptations in Lotr what was happening in The Hobbit, but it is not int he book, please read this. No one can't compare book with movies,it is all about style of writing. Tolkien in The Hobbit didn't described so detail places like in Lotr, but there are a lot of important scenes in that one small book, like: Troll Shaws,Rivendell,Goblin cave, whenthey escaped on trees,Beorn's house,Mirkwood,Barrel escape (which I prefer movie style),LakeTown,Erebor,Battle of the five armies, and Back to Bag-End. There are also things what are not in The Hobbit book, like Dol-Guldur,but those things are explained in Lotr books, what were happening at the time of The Hobbit, but it is not in The Hobbit book, but PJ also included that in Movies,so tell me,how would You include all of these scenes in only 1 or 2 movies? Some explanations why Legolas is in the movie:The Hobbit movie is not based on The Hobbit book,it is based on The Hobbit book + scripts at the end of Lotr book what has some things what were happening at the time at The Hobbit book, but these things are not in The Hobbit book.Tolkien wnted to re-write The Hobbit after Lotr,to fit it in nicely, but he died.Legolas lives at the time of The Hobbit book, cause he is Thranduil's son,and elves can't die by natural death. So, how would You explain if Legolas is not in the movie? Where is he then? I am a huge Tolkien and PJ fan,but there is only 1 thing I didn't like in the movies: Tooooo big role for Legolas,if You read my previous post,I like the fact that he is included in movies, but I would keep him inside of Mirkwood,it was toooo big role for him (since he isn't in the book) when he fought with Bolg.Barrel escape was biggest (positive) surprise, and I would finish with Legolas there. And about the title,There and Back Again is kind of title for a whole trilogy, not only last movie,so I understand the reason of changin the title. Peter Jackson did soooo much for us,if You guys want to complain about every single detail, then wgy ara You watching this, why You waste Your ''important time'' on writing how he wants only the money? When You see his production blogs,You will see that he does that because he loves his fans, and because he loves his job. I don't think he gets money for production blogs. He did soooo much for fans,as no one director did before. I would give anything to win Contest for premiere. PJ,You changed my life forever with Your movies,I hope I will become movie director at least 5% like You are now.
LordOf TheBricks You have just become my new favorite person EVER!! I've been telling these same exact things to people and it just pisses me off how people ALWAYS complain that PJ ruined the book with these movies. They have no idea how lucky they are and the genius that PJ is considering what he's done!! It's so great to see that there are others out there who recognize his talent and genius!! Thank you!! xDD
You're right. PJ haters are stupid. He is a really cool director and he has a good choice for actors too. Viggo Mortensen and Orlando Bloom are completely fit to play Aragorn and Legolas and the the other actors are also completely fit to play their respective characters.
Nah... srly, after reading the books, the Silmarillion story isn't that interesting, i rather watch a movie about the last alliance with Isildur's betrayal (Arthas, from Warcraft, is based on Isildur, so imagine how badass the movie would be), or a movie about Aragorn adventures before LOTR events.
I liked the use of Pippin's song, because it emotionally ties you to tragedy, it mentally and emotionally ties you to "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy. I'm excited to see this! I would love to see Mr. Jackson do more period type films. He brings such a sense of heroics, inter moral battles and romance to these films! Way to go Mr. Jackson and thank you to you and all those who have worked with you. You all have done a wonderful job!!
I read the book and I'm feeling sad becuase of a few things that's gonna happen. The trailer is epic tho. You guys can hate on me but I'd prefer if they made some changes.
the people who are supposedly die do not PJ already announced this, which is not surprising if you look it how he tweaked the whole narrative of the hobbit
This Looks great, but I have to Ask: Why is Pippin's song playing here? He's not In this movie, and well, It's kinda.... distracting. It almost feels like a fanmade trailer with that music. don't get me wrong, it's an awesome song, but.....I figured that should there be a song, it'd be a new one entirely.....
The phrase "home is behind, the world ahead" is uttered by Gandalf near the beginning of the 2012 film The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, as Bilbo and the dwarves leave the Shire for the first time.
Thank you on behalf of all the fans Peter Jackson for all the years you spent in middle earth bringing fantasy and literature to such great heights and helping create a beautiful story that will not fade for centuries. Your movies are up there along with other classics such as Star Wars and Indiana Jones. You truly are an inspiration!
I felt the same way when they used Empire Strikes Back music over the trailers for the prequels. Why? It's pure marketing and laziness. They want to make audiences think about the great film they remember when they advertise the new ones. Using Pippin's song feels like hardcore pandering. We're not monkeys, so don't expect to throw shiny things at us and clap like them. Why not use one of the countless other songs that are actually in The Hobbit text and let Bilbo sing it over the trailer? You know, something new? Using Pippin's song, from arguably the most emotionally raw moments in LotR, feels like 1) a slap in the face, and 2) is going to make me think of this crap when I watch Pippin sing again. BLAST!
the song "edge of the night" is made by bilbo. that's why pippin knows the song and that's why it's sung here these are the events that make up this song.
I'm 100% agree with you! It is simply a right. All the music is old!! Why not create something NEW there's so many songs by a hobbit. BY THE LAST TWO FILMS WAS THE SAME PROBLEM IT'S RIDICULOUS!! I actually wonna hear something NEW, ok, and not the old stuff from those old movies.
they also used this song because it connects to the events of The Battle of Five Armies, the first lyrics are "Home is Behind, The Wild Ahead" this is true for both the Dwarves of Erebor and the people of Laketown, "And there Are Many Paths To Tread" the Dwarves wandered for many years not seeking revenge but eventually taking their wrath upon the goblins of Moria, while the people of Laketown go to Erebor to take revenge on the dwarves who unleashed the dragon
Chananel Laufer All the music is old? Are you talking about the music in the movies themselves or the music in the trailers? Because if you're talking about the music in the movies... you either have a bad memory or weren't listening hard enough. There were themes from the Lord of the Rings in An Unexpected Journey when it was appropriate (with a couple exceptions), such as the Shire theme being played in (gasp!) the Shire. And the Desolation of Smaug barely had any music from the originally trilogy at all except for, once again, when it made sense, like the History of the Ring theme. I don't think most of the music in the Hobbit has been as good as the music in the Lord of the Rings, but to say it wasn't new is flat out wrong. But if you were talking about the the trailers using old music from the original trilogy...uh, this is the first time it has happened. The first trailer used the Misty Mountains song from An Unexpected Journey, and the other trailers used random trailer music. If you're going to bitch and moan, you should at least know what you're talking about.
I think I just cried a little when I heard Billy Boyd start singing. Thank you Peter Jackson a billion times, for literally everything you've done with Middle Earth!
It's funny how people forget how much cgi was in Lotr. If you are talking about fellowship I will agree but return of the king!? Return of the king had over 2000 cgi shots and it's the same for hobbit. Watch return of the king again and you will see. I do agree the movie looks great!
Will Smith Yeah, I agree with you, but you can't deny the bigger reliance on special effects in the Hobbit films. It's probably not an issue of quality as it is viewer preference. Quote from Viggo Mortensen: "Also, Peter was always a geek in terms of technology but, once he had the means to do it, and the evolution of the technology really took off, he never looked back. In the first movie, [FOTR], yes, there’s Rivendell, and Mordor, but there’s sort of an organic quality to it, actors acting with each other, and real landscapes; it’s grittier. The second movie already started ballooning, for my taste, and then by the third one, there were a lot of special effects. It was grandiose, and all that, but whatever was subtle, in the first movie, gradually got lost in the second and third. Now with The Hobbit, one and two, it’s like that to the power of 10."
You forget: this is a TRAILER! the actual movie is still being worked on, so most of these shots are probably unfinished! If they look slightly fake, it's probably because they're still perfecting the cgi for the final cut. so i would stop dwelling on that just for this trailer cuz it will look better when the movie actually airs.
Will you follow me ONE LAST TIME - The Hobbit The horn in Helm-hammerhand shall sound in the deep, ONE LAST TIME - LOTR. I see what you did there Peter :P
Ooooh, I'm looking at my sweetheart Legolas Greenleaf I hope I told him that I loved him, right *****? My gosh, my heart rate just went up!! *blushes*:)*
I don't understand why people are upset that Pippin's song is in the trailer. It suited ROTK, and I feel it suits the final chapter of the Hobbit too. It's Peter's movie, he can use the same music if he wants to, and he has. He's used music from LOTR in the Hobbit in numerous scenes. I love the Hobbit and LOTR, and I have read the hobbit only once. Personally, I enjoyed LOTR more, and I enjoy that Peter made the movie more suited to all ages, not just children like the book.
JohnnyDog I'm talking about the whole trilogy, too much CGI, the orcs, the chase scenes even the horses. Watch LOTR its pure scenery and the CGI blends in with actual film. Its actually why one of the reasons they're no as good as LOTR but Ive read all the Tolkein books so I will be very unhappy if this movie doesn't turn out like it is in my head
Jonny Freud I would have to disagree. I find the hobbit series even more enjoyable then lotr. Don't let the fact that you know its cgi stop you from enjoying it. The cgi is extremely well done, its all motion and face capture so all of the actors emotions and expressions are still there just on a different scene. One of my favorite (and a fan favorite as well) was the barrel scene in desolation of smaug...this was all cgi.
Ghost's Graphics well we can agree to disagree but I don't think you've watched LOTR enough if you like the Hobbit more than LOTR, the barrel scene is funny but it defies physics and it doesn't seem that you ever feel their in danger, too cartoonish. Even the actors have been complaining since their working with green screens and not natural props. ARTICLE... uk.ign.com/articles/2014/05/18/viggo-mortensen-jabs-peter-jackson-cgi-and-the-hobbit
I am a huge fan of Tbe Lord of the Rings amd The Hobbit and this trailer definatley gave me THE FEELS! So many emotions go through me when I watch this. I feel excitement when I see Thranduil kicking butt, terror when I see Smaug destroying Laketown, concern when I see Galadriel crying and kissing Gandalf as he lies unconscious upon the floor, saddness when I see the way the gold has twisted Thorin and turned him into an aggressive and greedy monster, confusion when I see Legolas look off with what looks like tears in his own gorgeous eyes, sorrow when I see all the dwarves I have become so attached to march out in battle armor, fear when I see the orcs and goblins moving in on Erebor (there is some hunor in that though considering some of them are riding battle rams), misery when I here Bilbo speak such solemn words in the beginning of the whole trailer, anxiety when first I heard Pippin's song play, despair when I saw Kili look fearfully at something (we can all guess what), and depression, when I think that this is the final chapter in the Middle-Earth saga. This is the last time we will ever see these characters we have become so attached to. This is the last time we will wait anxiously for a trailer to come out for a Tolkein based movie, the last time we wait hours in line to see it. It has been a long journey, but every journey must come to an end. Though saying goodbye may be hard, saying goodbye to Middle-Earth and the characters as we know them, we must let go. The plus side is that we may revisit them from time to time, but it will never be new to us, ever again. Peter Jackson has done an extraordinary job bringing Middle-Earth and all its inhabitants alive. He is truly inspirational and has brought us a vision of the world we all wish to travel to. I honestly hope the trailer, not the teaser trailer, takes a long time to come out. I want to wait, I want the end to seem as far off as possible. I loved the trailer (it surely got my heart racing) and I am excited and honored to be going There and Back Again with all my fellow Ringers! Cheers to all! :)
Cool to see the teaser, but it's been 7 months and no new production diary. There has to be something to share with fans on the making of the third film.
I love the music choice!!! I remember all the chills I got when the character "Pippin" sang it in LOTR: Return of the King! I can't wait for the third hobbit movie. :D The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies!
Still annoyed that they changed the name from There and Back Again, this movie looks like it spans off from the book so much that it doesn't even resemble Tolkien's work anymore! Why can't they just stick to what was originally written? We don't need any of this added Necromancer nonsense - it's The Hobbit, not The LOTR so why must this be an explanation of why The LOTR happened? It's a completely different tale and I'm so annoyed they've tried to merge them both together so much, it's completely ruined The Hobbit movies for me. So far they've been nothing but disappointingly different to the book, and I personally would've appreciated a lot more of The Hobbit in The Hobbit rather than all of these LOTR references.
If Peter Jackson redid The Inheritance Cycle as a movie(s), I would be very happy; he could probably grasp the scale of the story better than many other directors. However, nothing will ever top LOTR.
Hopefully the movie will be just as long as the 3rd part of "The Lord of the Rings" was. The 2cnd Hobbit was a masterwork, but for me a little bit to short. When i think of a Peter Jackson movie, i think of long movies, but as long as they are the movie wont get boring . Im rly excited about the 3rd part of the Hobbit. :)
It's funny how nobody can ever be happy about The Hobbit. They give an awesome trailer, no it's not good enough because of Pippin's Song. It's fitting to give a somber feeling with a familiar tune we can relate to. I personally love this trailer and am extremely excited for the movie.
Calm down about the song people! Remember that this is a PREQUEL of The Lord of the Rings, and when Pipim sang it he said that he knew a song, meaning the song is old... maybe this is the story that the song was based on? I don't know, still just enjoy it!
"If this is love, why does it hurt?" -That line pretty much sums up my thoughts of the movie. This movie was so beautiful and I hope one day there will be a movie of the Silmarillion. :)
Am I the only one being a bit bothered by the super-white eyes of most of the characters? I noticed this in the previous movie, and while you get quickly used to it, it still seems so weird to me and it shows how much they retouch the characters' faces during post-production (Legolas' face seems to be made of wax in most of his shots).
I got goosebumps watching this!!! I love the dark undertone to it. If the trailer is anything to go by, I for one am ecstatic that this was split into 3 films.
I am like wetting myself of excitement ( not literally) omg omg omg peter im freeking out this was an amazing trailer and i cant wait for the film ahhhhhhhhhXD
XD

Oh me too
It's on my phone :P
Im embarrassed, i started crying when I watched it.
Me too!! I was so shaking...

It's a TRAILER. Tons of trailers use music that aren't even used in the movie's score. It also helps set the mood quite effectively.
I felt it was distracting because the singer doesn't exist yet :P
The phrase "home is behind, the world ahead" is uttered by Gandalf near the beginning of the 2012 film The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, as Bilbo and the dwarves leave the Shire for the first time.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT THAT WAS AWESOME!!!
I think I just cried a little when I heard Billy Boyd start singing. Thank you Peter Jackson a billion times, for literally everything you've done with Middle Earth!
This looks so sick, I just wish there was less cgi.
Agreed. It looks very animated.. whereas LOTR seemed to use more real-life action and big-atures and whatnot. Sad.

dont know what videogames you play but this doesn't look like a videogame
Still a magical experience 8 years later.
Even Pippin's Song "The Edge Of Night" here as a theme for the trailer.
Impressed by the atmosphere.
"One day I'll remember. Remember everything that happened. The good. The bad. Those who survived, and those who did not."
I sad ! It's the last trailer !
OMG Pippins song from LOTR
No offence to JJ Abrams... But this film's gonna kick ass on Star Wars Episode 7
Will you follow me ONE LAST TIME - The Hobbit
The horn in Helm-hammerhand shall sound in the deep, ONE LAST TIME - LOTR. I see what you did there Peter :P
Pippin's song was so powerful, it went back in time :O

Having pippin sing in this trailer truly makes it amazing. I can't wait for this film I already know it will be incredible.
Now I can relax today hahaha....after I watch this for another 30 times that is. After this one there will be no more...
Now I'm really hyped for it. Really looking forwart to the movie :3
i need to see this movie already
Did anyone else who watched the movie notice that carriage thing at 1:04 wasn't in the film?
Only problem I have is the CGI looks so animated and unreal….I feel it might ruin the battle sequences.
Its a teaser dude not a final product.
Thats pretty much impossible. None of the other movies were ruined by CGI, they were actually enhanced by it.
ARTICLE...

SPOILER ALERT:
Dragon dies :D
pippins song
What happened with your blog?
EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PERFECT OMFG
I'd pay 10 times the cinema ticket, If I could watch this film now. I'm SOOOOOOO FREAKING Excited!
mega goose bumps... pippins song aswell tears of joy!! :')
After the great trailers for the previous 2 movies, this one is quite weird and unappealing. I hope it doesn't reflect the movie :/
I still can't get over how awful "The Battle of the five armies" is in comparison to "There and back again"
Cool to see the teaser, but it's been 7 months and no new production diary. There has to be something to share with fans on the making of the third film.
The CGI is strong in this one...
Oh wait wrong reference, uhh
Nasty little CGI! Curse them! We hate them!
Im a huge Lord of the rings fan, and the Hobbit sequels are great, but I felt this teaser was anti-climatic.
10 orcs watched this trailer
When r u posting production blog 15
Can't wait for this amazing movie.
I love the music choice!!! I remember all the chills I got when the character "Pippin" sang it in LOTR: Return of the King!
I can't wait for the third hobbit movie. :D
The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies!
*screams*
U RocK!!!! Peter Jackson! Thaaa Best! Director, Hands DowN!!! AwsoMMMMe:-)!
I love trailers for trailers.
At first I thought it was going to be called "There and Back again"
Can. Not. Waaaait!!!
Yes Thorin, I'll follow you anywhere really.
But bittersweet that this will be the last time we'll visit Middle Earth :(
this is gonna make me wanna watch lotr movies again :) All because of this song
It's funny how nobody can ever be happy about The Hobbit. They give an awesome trailer, no it's not good enough because of Pippin's Song. It's fitting to give a somber feeling with a familiar tune we can relate to. I personally love this trailer and am extremely excited for the movie.
Calm down about the song people! Remember that this is a PREQUEL of The Lord of the Rings, and when Pipim sang it he said that he knew a song, meaning the song is old... maybe this is the story that the song was based on? I don't know, still just enjoy it!
I don't want it to be the last time :'(
"If this is love, why does it hurt?" -That line pretty much sums up my thoughts of the movie.
Gloin and Balin are cousins. So......why does Gimli say "my cousin Balin" in LOTR, when he is really his nephew???
Billy Boyd's song. Yes. Just yes.
i hope one of the other trailers will have again the "requem for a dream"....
This is better then Amazon's rings of wokepower
I got goosebumps watching this!!! I love the dark undertone to it. If the trailer is anything to go by, I for one am ecstatic that this was split into 3 films.
Im looking forward to it, Peter Jackson. I just love the Middle Earth series!
looks good, even though it should've been subtitled "There & Back Again" imo, & that they borrowed (music) again from the LotR trilogy.
Eh, It was supposed o be Titled "There & Back Again", but Battle of the Five Armies is probably more accurate to what the movie is going to be about.
TBOTFA doesn't exactly roll off the tongue
Why did you change the title?!?!?!?!?!?! "There And Back Again" was sooooo much better!!!!
He didn't change it, this is a trailer for the 3rd movie.
GameJuz Well, originally the third one was going to be called "There and Back Again", but now it's been renamed to "The Battle of the Five Armies"
I am like wetting myself of excitement ( not literally) omg omg omg peter im freeking out this was an amazing trailer and i cant wait for the film ahhhhhhhhhXD
OMG! It was amazing. I cannot wait for movie xd
Love you peter :)
maravilloso!! que emoción!!!! waaaa!!!! ~('▼'~) ~('▼')~ (~'▼')~
ahora mismo estoy tan emocionada, tanto así que he tenido que hacer un esfuerzo para no gritar
si es asi con solo ver el tráiler, como será cuando tenga que ir a ver la película? XD
"Will you follow me...one last time?"
I will follow you forever, Peter!!!! :D
Pippin singing... Makes me all teary-eyed ;)
YAYYY BEEN WAITING FOR MONTHS FOR A VIDEO FROM YOU PETER!
Oh my gosh! I'm SO excited for the movie!!! I love how pippin's song was used. AMAZINGGGGGG :O
I can only hope that the third movie is better than the first two, they were good yes, but not even close as good as the LoTR trilogy
I foresee a lot of acrobatic stupid stunts.
also peter jackson how come we haven't seen any video diary's??!
MY BODY IS READY!!!
Bring the EPICNESS!! >:D
So no production trailers on the 5 armies then??... ;(
