No joke, just did this on the Switch version and I can't believe it! This was the one track I was dreading the most. When I originally played it as a kid on the Dreamcast I could never come close to even finishing second. Great run!
You’re in the clear as long as you stay on the top track and get separation like the video showed. It’s all about timing the break and acceleration on that first turn to ensure you stay on top. I’d recommend Mars Guo for this section of the game, he had good all around stats that made the races manageable for me. Once you unlock Sebulba, you’re set for the final series of races
I remember this track vividly and if you accidentally fall on top of the track you automatically lose and would have to restart the track over. This track in my opinion was no joke!

The N64 was technically about half a generation ahead of the PS1, the Dreamcast was another half-generation ahead of the N64, and then the Arcade version could just splurge on throwing as much system resources at the game as possible due to not needing to be affordable for the average consumer. There also was and still is a PC version but it and the rereleases on later systems stuck with the Dreamcast level visuals for some reason instead of taking advantage of more modern hardware.
That could just as much be a benefit. The issue I had with the N64 version was constantly having to correct for input lag. Tighter controls means better precision.
this track is actually doable with the dumbest method: an unupgraded Anakin Skywalker can make that first turn at full speed and has decent enough cooling to boost his way to victory after the raised platform section.The worst part of this track is that Bozzie isn't even a good racer. If this was how you unlocked Neva Kee I could see learning the challenge of this track being rewarding, but now it's just the race I get done and never play in multiplayer.
It is possible with bullseye navior with the best upgrades, just need to slow down under 300 mph or whatever to do those first two turn. His stats helped to keep me in the lead, as long as you don’t fall on those first two turns on the lap.
Omg them shortcuts especially the 1st one would always miss it your timing is amazing nobody should be fooled this course was damn hard had to play it many many times on PC years ago to finally finish 1st If you fall of then the race is pretty much done has to be very precise you must be a professional at this game

I proudly beat this race and 100% completed the game in the same run on the N64 when i was ten. i still talk about this track, even just the other day. but the fact that you pilot neva kee and not bullseye navior is raising my eyebrow :)
Up untill last summer i figured put staying on the top amd npt rushing was how to get past 3rd place and after that first section id hit the gas untill the first turn into it and slow down and do it till i won some lf theas cpurses have secret areas that improve time or dont have to fight with sharp turns

Not to forget that you can randomly explode if you ride to close to the edge of the of that higher track level Funny thing is i played the hell out of that game 23 years ago on pc. It took me a long time to beat abyss . Then a few years ago i saw it in the ps store downloaded it and beat the game in one single playtrough (also abyss) without trouble . 😅
We need a new proper podracing game. The only other racing experience that got this kind of speed right, was F-Zero, and Nintendo seems to have no interest in making another one. There's some guy who made the Boonta Classic in Unreal Engine 4, and it looks great, but it lacks the sense of ludicrous speed like this does. And that sense of speed is critical in my opinion
Hey just curious, has anyone else had problems with the boost cutting out and not being able to boost at all with the PS4 version. I remember that maintaining boost in the original game was pretty easy but I can't manage to boost for longer than 1 second with the PS4 release. Any thoughts would be great. Thank you

how do you boost actually? i manage to boost, but it always gets cancelled. i think its due to the analog stick as it is not 100 % upwoards, on the pc it is easier to press up

Seriously, I think this is the HARDEST race in the entire game.

Letting go of the throttle or pressing the brakes will cancel the boost, other than that and overheating I don't have issues with boost

Lol I played this game a looooooot as a kid which helps and imo controlling the pod is easier with a ps4 controller than the old n64 ones
