    I am a 73 year old woman and I am one of those 24 million. Mine Autoimmune Hashimoto's was triggered by mold exposure in the workplace for three years. I have been working with a Functional Medicine Physician now for about 15 years and after a lot of hard work and costs I am on my way to healing. The greatest change I ask for is to have my insurance COVER Functional Medicine treatments. Currently I have paid for thousands of dollars of out of pocket costs. Every month I pay for Medicare, my supplemental health insurance plans and still I have to pay for all my Functional treatments out-of-pocket This eliminates MANY people who could not have this kind of medicine.

    Many, many people are also finding a link between what they eat and autoimmune, and that when they stop eating sugar, grains, processed food, and seed/vegetable oils and move to a lower carb way of eating, they end up reversing all their symptoms. Some also add in fasting.
    Of course, acknowledging and welcoming any feelings that are there to come up is also a fabulous idea, as many of us deny and repress our feelings. It’s important to let those feelings come up and put.

    She makes generalizations and autoimmune disease is too broad a term. You cannot breath or meditate your way out of catastrophic antiphospholipid syndrome or sleep your necrotizing myositis into remission. Nor can cutting out tomatoes cure your way out of interstitial lung disease from antisynthetase syndrome or an underlying CTD.

      Well, simple and not simple. But MANY have been able to have relief from certain autoimmune diseases by adopting dietary changes and other methods mentioned.
      My sister was diagnosed with lupus and Hashimoto’s. Her mother (we have the same dad) had thyroid cancer, and they opted to take hers out after testing and such. Our sister (she has same mother as other sis) also developed thyroid cancer, so it may have been prudent for the first sis. After this period of time, she discovered the elimination diet and discovered the foods that caused her leaky gut. She does not eat gluten or dairy, and a couple of other things. She has had zero lupus symptoms for several years since changing her diet, to where it previously caused her a lot of pain.
      Nutrition and positive thinking are underestimated. Perhaps not a cure all, but a cure or relief for many ailments.

      Look into toxin exposure. For most people its mold exposure. But there are also heavy metals and chemicals that can cause autoimmune diseases. Your immune system is attacking the organ because foreign substances is in it, which is toxic to the body. Look into liver detoxification phase 1 and phase 2.

    I’m sorry, where on earth are you getting your experts? I’m a physician and I have an autoimmune disease diagnosed post-covid but that I had for years and was not diagnosed as I should have been but instead given stupid advice very much like what she’s selling instead of being listened to and taken seriously. This person is making money selling pseudoscience and “breath work” isn’t going to cure autoimmune disease. It’s really ridiculous how bad this was and the negative impact this can have on a group of patients with diseases that aren’t well understood due to underfunding of research. Th patients suffering from these diseases want to be normal, and adding sleep tracking and avoiding tomatoes is just more layered on ridiculousness. Autoimmune diseases disproportionally impact women, especially women of color. Share the real science and ask patients what they recommend that helps, it would be more useful information than her snake oil. If I was left to diagnose myself as a physician with the amount of privilege I have, then goodness knows all of the patients are suffering and her dumb book of pseudoscience will waste even more of their precious time and resources.

    • @musuyanguba4226

      She is right about the gut health and avoiding gluten and dairy. Most diseases develop thru the gut and healing the gut is the first step to curing autoimmune disease. I know this because I had graves and I cured it. Once you know what causes it, it is fairly easy to cure.

    • @LauraB.335
      @LauraB.335 2 месяца назад +8

      And what do you suggest? Going to a doctor and being put on a prescription for the rest of your life? No, thank you!
      I didn’t watch the video, but I do know that welcoming any and all feelings to come up and out is helpful for any disease process. I also know that many, many people have had success by not eating sugar, grains, processed food, and seed/vegetable oils, as well as adopting a lower carb way of eating. These same people went to doctor after doctor and were given medication after medication and nothing seemed to help, but with the food changes, many have been able to improve their symptoms and some have been able to reverse them altogether.
      And when you say real science, what do you mean? Do you mean the research that is paid for by big food and big pharma? Yeah… again, no thanks!

      Sadly most physicians were never taught about the mind/ body connection so physicians write rx and that’s their solution … I had many ailments and was prescribed rx lets be real for every ailment there’s now a rx yay! … functional medicine/ holistic medicine are the ones that have helped me with my health more than any regular physician ever has … and if you do your research that wasn’t taught in medical school you will find out that childhood trauma has a huge impact on one’s health and left undealt with shows up years later as an adult .. sadly because Drs today were only taught so much they haven’t got the answers drs work closely with big pharma so prescribing is their best medicine.. food is medicine ppl heal many diseases on their own as our bodies are meant to heal .. I was sick for years and led down rabbit holes 🕳️ by conventional drs because they only know what they’ve been taught .. They have to learn the connection between the mind and body … unless one becomes their own advocate they are left with a dr uninformed and a rx …. Read about mind body connection and how the gut health affects our bodies

      🤣- Ha! I THINK I get it, but only because my sons are gamers. Ha! Yep. Feels a little bit like potentially controlled opposition, and also with this all being super old how-to news not to mention so super simplistic, and interviewer blowing through it all at 500 miles per hour besides. And once again, "go to your doctor as soon as possible" (who's not trained in any of this but instead will more likely than not simply give you bandaids vs. getting to the root of the matter) and get your pills.... (cha-ching...) 😵 There are functional/integrative doctors and then there are functional/integrative doctors. Don't know this one- perhaps legit, but certainly was strapped for time and really did not feel authentically passionate in the delivery here. Oh, and don't even get me started on the "genetics" thing- as if we are powerless because "genetics" play a role. Where's the discussion on epi-genetics and how environmental factors will switch various genetics on and off. What about the other well known more common inflammatory foods like corn, and seed oils? Why not offer a more comprehensive list? Dairy, gluten and corn are typically the top inflammatory foods listed to avoid for elimination. Night shades good to list also. Check out the emerging carnivore diet community for a truly sustainable elimination diet- Dr. Shawn Baker, HomeSteadHow, Dr. Kelly. There is a pathway here, but generally speaking this whole segment not even worth putting out there if there is no care to be reasonably more in-depth and thorough in the first place. But then, being on MSM, don't want to be ruffling too many feathers and accidentally get on some kind of black list somewhere... And finally the worst, the cliff hanger re: trauma. All of it is trauma- whether it is nutritional trauma (short or longer-term) or physical/emotional/mental/spiritual from outer experiences... we can either choose to be intergenerational trauma cycle breakers or not, but only once we are even aware that it is all around us just as a function of being human on this planet. There is so much here to look at if this segment was really to truly HELP people, and the fact that this segment was stuffed into what kind of a time frame?? Ridiculous.
