Dave is like that smart dude who cant enjoy life because he knows how screwed up it is but tries.
Dave suffers from depression, it's not that he knows how screwed up things are, it's a medical condition.
@@xxfloppypillowxx Just because depression is a medical condition, does not mean that the evils it highlights are any less vile. They're just more obvious to those of us who suffer from the disorder. Makes us miss the good most people focus on instead.
@@apenguininthemist855 I suffer from depression (and have for the last 12+ years) and I'm just saying that how they have worded it is very dismissive to those of us that suffer from depression making it seem like we just get hung up on the negatives in life and can't enjoy life because of it but that's just simply not the case. We can see/experience the beautiful parts of life and yet at the end of the day we still feel terrible. I don't focus on and/or care about most of the evils in the world and yet multiple times a year I get to the point where I would rather die than get out of bed.
@@xxfloppypillowxx yeah, and the fact that he's quite smart and aware of the world's general functioning means that there likely is less reprieve. There are bad things to see everywhere around you, the more you know, the more you pay attention to it. This of course applies to himself several-fold as well, considering his self-awareness and his position as a creator/"influencer". I don't have clinical depression, I've just been diagnosed with symptoms of mild depression, so obviously I really can't honestly say I could understand how it must feel. I'm just quite apathetic with a tendency to fixate on negative issues, really.
I like how you don't shy away from talking about these topics with your son. Kids are smarter than we give them credit for, and I wish that my parents had been this emotionally open with me when I was a kid. You're doing good, man

came here to recommend empty, I'm fortunate enough to not have dealt with anything to do with the subject of the song but even then it really hit home hard.
empty helped me so much with my eating disorder and the best thing: friends of me understood me better after listening to this song! It helped me so, so much!

I hope Dave will see your channel so he can truly see how much he has impacted so many people. He has made the world a slightly better place. I first found his channel in 2015 and he was the 1st youtuber, along with the try guys but for different reasoning, that I became attached to and honestly without those 2 channels I don't know where I would be today. It really sucks that his mental health is in such a bad place at the moment that he can't handle making videos. I hope that he is able to get better and get the help that he needs. He was with me through the hardest years of my life so far and has left such an impression on my heart and he deserves to know how much he is loved and supported.
This song is a really nice analogy of living with depression. On the outside everything is awesome but that little Dave in your head always reminds you of what could happen. I found this cannel with your amazingly fresh reaction to dont stay in school so seeing this made me happy
I enjoyed the making-of video. James and Dave collabbed on the lyrics, Dave wrote the music and put it together, James with help did the animation. They’re a trip.

This song a very accurate visual representation of what it can feel like to be depressed. Even if you recover from it you always remember what it felt like. It always makes me smile to see this song though. We need more people willing to talk about difficult topics like this.

@Julio Cesar There was also a time Dave was quite depressed and didn't post anything on his channel for like, a year, yet he was in his best friend's (Roomie) videos not long after. They recorded like 5 videos in a row. I think it's good for him, to be in videos with his friends. But I don't know how he's doing when he's not around them.
@Julio Cesar I saw his Twitter post, the last photo he posted of himself he was looking really good. But I don't know if that's enough to know his mental state. I mean, like you said, there's people out there that don't show it at all. There's people smiling and belly laughing with their friends, while feeling depressed as soon as they're on their own. Not everyone wants to show it.
From everything I have seen from Dave. All his music either carries and message that he actually researches or they are just for fun.
I really, really hope Dave gets to hear, one way or another, about everything you're doing, because I think he will be so thrilled, and so honoured.

I highly highly recommend watching JaidenAnimations "why i dont have a face reveal" and then watching boy in a bands song with her called Empty. Watching the "why i dont have a face reveal" video will give a lot of context to the song and really makes it so much more powerful. I cried a lot during both videos.
I seen it suggested once already, but highly recommend reacting to Empty, Dave and JaidenAnimations, real song talking about real problems she herself had and wanted to make people aware of
So in the behind the scenes with TheOdd1sOut he basically said that he too suffers from depression, but animating upbeat animations is his way of coping.
Dave did a song with Dan Bull that's comprised of Bible verses, but all the dark and cruel bits that don't usually get discussed. It's certainly dark (if you've ever actually read the Bible, I'm sure you can imagine), but I highly recommend it.

This year alone, both of my parents have gotten cancer, leaving me to take care of my autistic and diabetic brother while they go through treatment, a very close family member has passed away, gone through a bad break up, and have gotten "temporarily laid off". I am only 24. My mental health was not okay to begin with. These reaction videos to Dave has made me realize I'm not alone in how I've been thinking or feeling and is a great distraction from everything going on. Thank you! Also, Jakob is adorable!

It was actually a mistake that I did a few years ago, I didn't explain to my son what was happening to me and now I still see the changes on him. how he's still afraid to lose me if I don't go to the doctors weekly. So it's cool to see you speak those big words like depression/ anxiety with yours. well done

Haha NF is very similar yet on his own path, very much like dave.. they inspire the future generation by actually killing stigmas and speaking up. Nate, of course, has been able to push through his mental downs, OCD, etc in a healthier way than Dave, but that doesn’t diminish an oz of the love daves poured into the work he does have. Also, if youre not that familiar with Hopsin, you should youtube “hopsin fan interview about lost nf” or similar... bc he speaks directly to fan Qs and its a better interview and more heartfelt than any “professional” could give. These guys are making moves. And its beautiful watching it spread, im sure you agree. 💋 (also, dave plays Harry Potter in ERBs harry vs luke. Didnt check if youve seen it but thought id squueze that in.. your son would enjoy it)

To be honest though. Its smart of him to hold off on it. Psychologically speaking, judging on the volume of requests for it. there is more than a few people who will most likely leave/unsub once he does it. You keep the people on their toes waiting for it because they will see your other content, and theres a bigger chance they'll stay after you make the requested video.
Im not sure if he had put that into account or not. Its just how i see youtube working.

They’ve done another song recently as well
This song is literally what's going on in my head. I practice positive thinking, I try hard, but it is incredibly difficult to keep those "but what about" thoughts out. My whole college education is "here's a million things wrong and why the world is exponentially degrading but here's how you can help something tiny in a small area that makes no large impact". Yes, their hopes are that we are inspired and invent something unforeseen to help, but... Depression doesn't help. But it's a WIP, I got into therapy (would recommend even if you don't have mental health issues) and am getting help, but inspiration to live life fully is hard.

Hey! I love your videos and have been watching them for a while. And since I know you are all about history, I was wondering if you ever thought about reacting to Hetalia. It's an anime about all the countries personified as people. It's a comedy that is accurate (as it does mention and shows facts about the world) and also inaccurate due to the way it's portrayed. Its mainly a satire anime, but I figured you could get a good laugh out of it!
I recommend checking out Boyinabands Prince EA video titled "Don't Trust Prince EA", I feel his talking about Prince EAs fear mongering and misinformation might be something you're interested in. Also maybe check out Odd1sOut animated stories, they are pretty funny.

lmao this song is awesome my son duets it with me all the time he's the optimist and I am the pessimist 😅🤣🤣 my son is my positivity which is why I duet it with him. he is 4 years old the size of a smaller 7 year old and like a super happy ball of lightning In a cloud waiting to discharge. I am hoping to keep his positivity and teach him even though life has beaten me down it was so I had the ability to lift him up and guide him from my rough path.
