    Hi Thomas & Drew Great 👍 Iron test, I consider myself a to have a good knowledge of different manufacturers club’s, But the New Callaway Iron Range has got me beat, So many different model’s it’s confusing, After 20 years of playing Callaway Irons, I have just bought a set of Titleist T300 iron’s much simpler choice understood their range much better, Thanks for explaining the Callaway range,9hcp 75year Senior golfer Dickey UK

I game the apex 19s and the lower scoring clubs and they go way to far for me! idk if that makes sense !! thanks guys

    Love watching these comparisons with clubs. I, myself have the Apex21. I like it because it’s a ‘heavy’ club. Do you ever compare the clubs by weight? When I asked Callaway about upgrading to a more pro grade, he recommended the X-forged cb. I can’t find an x-at any golf store so I can’t compare the weight difference. Can you comment on the weight differences?

    My buddy is left handed and bought the Rogue X’s in 2020. I was still gaming Tommy Armour 845’s from 35 years ago. lol. His friend bought some right handed Rogue X’s and couldn’t hit them, so my buddy bought them for me without asking. That was super nice of him and I greatly appreciated it. But, they aren’t exactly a good fit for my game. I am a lower handicap player and like to work the ball, and these huge game improvement irons have no feel for workability. I also don’t see the point in removing 3&4 irons by jacking down the loft’s, then leaving you at 41 degrees at PW. Now I need to add 4 wedges to my bag past the PW. How long will it take for one of these companies to slap the number 7 on a 1iron, and call it the longest club ever to be made? lol

      @@Jaredxstp Yeah balls do make a difference, I went to a Callaway fitting which is where I got my clubs from and they recommended Chrome soft balls. I like the pro v 1's too but if you're swinging slower you want something soft. Honestly the stratas aren't horrible clubs, they're definitely better than my old top flites were. It helps to just get a consistent good swing down and then when you get your new clubs you'll be able to notice the difference

    Your timing could not have been better for this comparison! I am 72, just getting back into golf after a 5-year layoff due to injury, etc. I have played RAC LT irons with Rifle shafts since 2003, but need something different now with newer technology and an easier swinging shaft. I have hit the APEX 21, APEX Pro and Rogue ST Pro. I see you also got great numbers out of the X-Forged CB and APEX DCB. The clubs on both ends of these are not of interest to me based on my ability. Callaway also does Combo sets. Based on my swing speed, both the Dart 75 and MMT 85 are shafts that work best. If I wanted to Combo the set, would you recommend X-Forged CB or APEX Pro for the 8-PW, and APEX 21 or APEX DCB for the 5-7? If I were just doing a straight set, I think I would lean toward the APEX 21. Thanks for your thoughts!

    • @2ndswing
      @2ndswing  2 года назад

      Good stuff Denis! I think we would initially recommend Apex Pro and Apex DCB. Based on your swing speed, you'll likely need a bit more launch and spin, and each of those models is designed to provide more spin than the counterparts you included. With that said, you could also try Apex Pro and Apex 21, or Apex 21 and Apex DCB as your combo.

    10 different irons feels several too many in the Callaway range. Looking purely at the numbers the Rogue ST Pro and X Forged CB are functionally identical so I would question why both clubs exist - and then there is the Apex which once you take into account statistical significance again is so close to being functionally identical that I cannot see why there are 3 clubs rather than one in the range. At least I could see a little difference between Epic Max Star (didn't even realise that club existed) and Apex DCB - DCB flies higher, a lot higher, and has a steeper launch angle so I guess if you regularly play on windy courses there is a reason for both clubs to exist - and I really like a black finish on irons.
    For me the stand out clubs were Apex DCB, Rogue ST Pro and TCB and for the right golfer maybe the Max OS - although the MBs are seriously beautiful, I am just not good enough to play them.
    So the obvious question is why so many irons in the Callaway range?

    i have the DCB but there is NOT a lot of feel and feedback for me, yes they are forgiving but so many shots feel dead (its probably my swing) so i stuffed up in my purchase process. manufacturers MUST start letting the customer play a round or 2 with a set of clubs it would help so much. The logistics would be a nightmare but they do make sh&t loads from we the consumer so i'm sure there is a easy compromise. Where i live we don't have access to trial sets. Not like the US and Can.
