    I used to use an Epson ET-2550 ruclips.net/user/postUgkxciSwynMJ7PnUvvx11rewiu-yFBkZTl53 , an early model of the ink tank style. It worked well, but had one nuisance that drove me up the wall; if you didn't put it in high quality print mode you'd get a streak across the page. I'm happy to say I have yet to see this with this printer. The print quality has been fantastic so far, the set up was super easy. All in all I'm very happy with this printer.

    😃This video is so valuable, thank you sir!
    I'm also getting into sublimation and have been researching many things about it. For many the go to is Sawgrass and today was my purchase day for the new sg1000. I've watched and read countless hours about the available Brands, the process, application... Etc but I hesitated because of ink price. So I begin researching again because of two conflicting website prices on ink. then after searching RUclips I remembered I've seen that Epson if 570 before which wasn't available at the time and began watching videos then came across your channel which was the icing on the 🎂 cake! I still want to know more but tonight is the night to purchase the Epson F570!! Thank You Very Much, I appreciate your time with making a great informative video👍🏾😁

    Great video! From someone who has spent almost $26K in sublimation ink for Sawgrass since 2015, I was very glad to get this Epson recently. Minor nit to your math, and it won't change things substantially... the Black cartridge for the 800 has 72 ml of ink in it, not 75 ml as the other colors have.

    @FlashyExpressions , thank you for the video. To reply to a few of the comments here, I do not have an F570 yet, but I have converted the WF7720 to sublimation in June of 2019 . We have made close to $25K off that printer in sublimation sales (which by many standards is still small time, I know). This is in a seasonal tourist town. During the fall/winter months, there was a time where it sat for close to 4 months, and I can assure you it did need a deep cleaning (actually 6 deep cleaning cycles) to unclog the print heads. This was after letting it set for four months! We have since been running it at least weekly, and never a problem. Great print heads and technology inside, and I can only assume the F570 runs solid as well. Thanks again! I hope it works great for you, and look forward to getting one ourselves!

I will get an f570 . I bought the f170 and the prints are perfect!. I am very impressed with epson but my only criticism of epson is the maintenance tank. I realize company's want to make money but this is just a money grab. The replacement maintenance tank cost $50.00. You can simply empty the tank yourself as long as you find a mechanism to reset the micro chip. You can bye them online but I have'nt seen one for the f570. Maybe the reset gagit for older models will work,I don't know. Maybe research to find out if the chip on the f570 can be reset. It will save you alot of money over time.

    DO NOT BUY SAWGRASS!! It doesn't print green, yellow or blue accurately. You'll have to sell your house if you want to buy ink. I used Sawgrass for about six years. I saved $20,000 in one year on ink costs by changing to Epson Eco-tanks. The colors are excellent with the Epson. Sawgrass is a horrible nightmare of a company. There is zero support. Their answer to everything is to buy another printer. They will load changes into your computer even if you don't want them to. DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT SAWGRASS!! You're welcome.

      Yes, the machine came in about the same time covid hit. My wife runs the shirt business and I have a full time job. I am normally the one who experiments with new products and equipment. Unfortunately, with the covid issue, kids home from school, big changes at my normal job and then having a surgery go bad earlier this summer I have not had the time to put the machine to good use and make money. I have printed shirts, mouse pads, mugs and a doormat. So far the prints have been coming out great. Of course there is a learning curve. I had the most problems with mugs. The ink kept spreading out or migrating while cooling. I started putting them in water right after heating and that seem to fix the issue. The floormat came out nice. The size of my heat press is a limiting factor for large items such as the mats. In a nut shell, I love it. The prints come out awesome. I just have not had the time to put together a process that works with our business model. Hopefully soon. I did attempt to make an unboxing video, but just could not put it all together to make it as informative as I would like. I figure the world does not need another video of me just opening a box.

      @@FlashyExpressions Simple arithmetic! If, IF it is true that the Sawgrass ink goes 3 times as far as the Epson ink, then the numbers look like this: SG = $1.93 per ml, so the amount of Epson ink needed would be 3 times (3X) $0.13/ml or to be equal Epson ink would cost 3 times $0.13 or $0.39! So which is cheaper to print the same volume of work, $1.93 or $0.39? For me, it is certainly a "NO BRAINER !

    A few things to keep in mind.
    Ink costs are a very small portion of your cost to produce product. So if, for example, you are making a mug with an SG800 vs an F570, the difference in ink may only be pennies. Even a larger print, lets say at worst case the print costs you $1 more, that's only $1 on top of the other costs (labor, substrate, staff, shipping, overhead, etc.).
    Cost of ink should not be the deciding factor between these two printers. While it can be important if you are always printing larger format, single image prints, it becomes less important if you are printing many smaller items (i.e keychains, mugs, coasters, etc.) as the difference in ink cost per item between these two printers is going to be very small.

    • @FlashyExpressions
      @FlashyExpressions  4 года назад +3

      When I looked at the replacement ink cost, I saw a huge difference. I would think this would translate into lower ink cost when printing a substrate with equal amounts of ink. I am new to this so time will tell.

    Hello, neither one Print white, isn’t that a concern??

    • @FlashyExpressions
      @FlashyExpressions  4 года назад +2

      That is correct. Both the Epson and Sawgrass are CMYK printers. Not sure, but I do not think there is a sublimation printer that prints white. Not printing white is not really a concern, it is just a limitation that you work around. Most substrates for sublimation are solid white and you just print all over the substrate the colors you want. When it comes to larger items you need to make sure your paper is large enough to cover the whole substrate and your heat press will press the whole substrate. You can print on other light color objects, but the available colors you can print will be limited. For example, you can sublimate a 100% polyester red shirts with black ink. Another option is to print on sublimation vinyl, then press the vinyl to the shirt. I have been trying to figure this out, but have not had any luck. The videos I find on this all use the camio cutter to cut the vinyl. I have a GCC puma and can not figure out how to contour cut with it.

      In my video I mentioned I was new to the sublimation market. I have never operated a sublimation machine. I can not speak to or do I have a position on the print heads. I do have about 10 years of experience operating a DTG printer. From that experience I know when inks come in cartridges they are usually more expensive than in bulk. A 70ML cartridge for the sawgrass is about $131.00. A 142ML refill bottle for the epson F570 is about $18.00. The price per ML is about $1.87 and .13 cents respectively. A huge difference in price. Additionally, the Epson F570 comes with two full sets of ink. The whole reason for the video was to show how and why I went with the Epson. I had no intent to tell others what they should buy. Before I make a decision and purchase something like this printer, I like to view RUclips videos on the product. The more videos that provide good information the better. The good, the bad and the ugly. Thought my analyses could be of use to others.
