- Nigerians love to live well and live large. Most Nigerians are also very much into keeping us appearances and trying to outdo one another!
In all you do, please make sure you are well. The rate at which middle-aged men and women are dropping is alarming.
Health is wealth.
When my mom came to the USA from Nigeria, her blood pressure was 230/150. She was in the hospital for 7 days just to get her bp down. That was back in 2000. She’s now on 4 different bp meds. That’s what’s keeping her alive
Many people living in Nigeria with hypertension find it difficult to go for regular check ups and use of prescribed BP medications. It could be the out of pocket payments that make compliance difficult. Also the societal belief that thinking too much is the only reason for high BP could make compliance difficult. And non orthodox medical practitioners are patronised more than any standard hospital or doctors.
Sis B, you hit the nail on the head with that statement: Nigerians’ resilience. I have thought about this and it has led me to conclude that the reason the government is not doing anything for the people is because of this same resilience. Nigerians’ resilience is what is making the bad and deplorable state of things seem manageable and almost unnoticeable…why? Because Nigerians tend to develop a weird manner of adapting to whatever comes their way! And that’s why when Davido made that statement, people were chastising him for saying the truth! One quarter of what Nigerians endure, oyinbo go don kpai or enter depression if they had to go through it!
No be Resilience...The Great Fela called it : Suffering and Smiling!🤣
Gbam.@oyinade7426 you said it very well . This suffering in silence is going to cost the less privileged a lot. The rich will never notice, they are thriving. I pray Nigerians will stop up to bad governance for once.
Exactly my thoughts, too.
@@oyinade7426 True, true!
@gracenmercy1085 or coping mechanism same thing as RESILIENCE.
People just adjust when they should complaining and matching daily! It's so sad to behold😊
Going out and coming back the same , people are living under pressure from all fronts. Thank you as always, for bringing matter of importance for discourse.
Thanks Aunties!!! In an effort to keep up with the Jones’, they will start putting pressure on us abroad to send money like we don’t have responsibilities. I’ve decided to take care of myself.
Hahaha I cried for my country please if there is any way we can reduce our carbohydrate intake too that would help and we should also learn to be resting.
Nigerians like eating bread and rice, which is a big problem!
Nigeria, big problem is the rice and bread they eat everyday. They consume too much carbohydrate!
100% correct i am a Testimony i reduce my rice and bread intake come and see me.I dropped
@@kemiajayi3069not eating in moderation is the issue. Asians eat rice everyday but they eat it in moderation and accompany it with plenty of vegetables and moderate protein. A lot of us are also very sedentary especially the men
slumping dey happen for abroad too oh...I have seen one in our church. Quite sad.it's lack of rest and self care. They won't rest. 3 shifts a day. They will not remove their eyes from what other people are achieving that God is yet working out for them . Some will carry mortgage before they even settle, carry car lease, Carry private school for kids, plus all the bills that don't pause abroad. Pheeew!!!We make life hectic for ourselves!!! Make we dey calm down. I will be content with what I have and cut my coat according to my cloth....Naija is a slightly different matter that the environment does not let people rest. Buy fuel 1k today , buy am 2k tommorow. Light today, none tommorow. Bag of rice is now 120k baba Bola chest go do gbim!!Haba!....Anyway,If men have understanding wives and women have husbands that know that life na jeje, some of the slumping wahala will reduce abroad especially.
What the PA said is a serious issue. Some of the clinics are using the same diagnosis for more than one patient.
Nigeria suits you aunty B, you’re look fab as usual. Message is so on point, health is wealth 💯👍🏾
I wish Ms. Obi made the Ultrasound place pay for the unnecessary MRI😬
Thanks for sharing these matters.
Some people are afraid of what the doctors might discover. They would rather not know. Fear of kpaing is real!🙄
Please don't ignore any symptoms or changes in your body. It's better to know and treat it, than to pretend it's not there. What you ignore won't go away, but gets worse.🙏
Obodo Oyinbo! u have done well. excellent obs! ps - you and yr friend really vibe well..... ❤
Oby is a vibe oh, Thank you aunty B
Nigerian men or bread winners in general neglect their health to a large extent. There are many people in their 50s and 60s who have never gone to the hospital to check their blood pressure, blood sugar, blood or urine tests to access kidney functions etc. They feel there's no time, and the money involved is too much. They prefer paying a spiritualist for their spiritual wellbeing, but never see their medical wellbeing as anything important to address. Adequate regular exercises and healthy diet lifestyles are also independently important as well for overall wellbeing.
****Quit eating foreign food, no " ndomi" , spaghetti, pizza, ..etc.
@HoodsGlobal I like the special attention you gave to "ndomi" but you forgot the egg 🤣😂🤣
watching from kenya. Thank you for this timely conversation
les worries and Les competition I know parents want the best for their children but if you can not afford to pay for university please let the children go and learn hand work because everyone around you are sending their children to abroad doesn't matter please do what you can because is not all the children in abroad that go to uni there something called apprenticeship is same as leaning hand work.
Listen to your body and don’t neglect symptoms, for those are very important warnings.
Twinstars ❤❤❤❤❤ Hello Auntie B, you know what have I been admiring? 😂the striking resemblance with you too Aburooooo’s

Anty Oby
I love your igbo accent
Ezi nwa ada igbo 🫂
Very true but have we looked at the ammount of oil used for frying our food ? Imagine fresh fish , vegetables and then u spoil them by dipping them in sooo much oil we need to change the way we cook aswell too much oil is not good for our Health. Let’s help ourselves as we are what we eat !!
Too much oil, Maggi, seasonings and starches and oh sugar. I watched certain movies and many of the women over 35 are over 200 pounds. That's not the Africa I knew as a child. GMOs and the mighty seasonings are the major changes I have observed in our diet. For those abroad, it's those plus the hustle. No time for self care. I can't wait for my son to get to college so I can do early retirement 😊😊😊😊 For now, reduce junk food and the seasonings in your home cook meal. Gradually increase your fiber intake
Exercise is great, but there are some illness that are genetic no matter how fit you are. So with the Exercise add regular check up. The other most frustrating thing is that most of the doctors are so incompetent that they cannot even diagnose illnesses. You can spend the next 12months going for one test or the other. Our wahala for Naija plenty. God Bless.
The problem of Nigeria affecting our country is physical plus spiritual, it's combo of both , physical dey , the refused to see doctor, spiritual dey too. Just pray and go for constant ćheck up.
To add to the BP issue, we eat lots of oils (vegetable or red), salt, and fried foods. No form of exercise.
These foods we can avoid or reduce especially since many cannot afford doctors checkups.
Even people in their 30’s & early 40’s now slump & d!e well said Aunty B, this was so needed.
Tell the brotherhood to reduce their pot belly too!! It’s a lot sometimes, high cholesterol can cause embolism, which Leads to instant deletion. May God help us all 🙏🙏🙏
😡😡😡The over-abuse of malaria medication is rife in Nigeria
Twins....una do well on this topic🎉
Hypertension is a silent killer. Check your blood pressure regularly.
The cost of living is literally kpoofing the living now in Nigeria. No be who chop bellefull de go hospital for treatment? Little wonder why people are dropping like flies.
Abroad no be beans 🫘
Amazing conversation as always! Aunty Oby is effortlessly funny! Obodo fam! 100k is still our goal! please like, share, and subscribe! God bless you all, and happy new month!
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Sister B, the Tammy food supply guys do they sell yams?
Some see taking high Bp medicine as not my portion, but that's what will make you live a long life if you have high Bp and taking it, plus you must sleep at least 8 hours every day(in every 24 hours), eat less starchy food and more of vegetables, meat and fruits.
Tammy please do u sell periwinkle in shell
Lady B, so good seeing you, both! Being in a state of constant ANXIETY, FAMILY PRESSURES, COPING, SOME KEEPING UP WITH THE JONESES, SCHOOL FEES etc.
Eat less carbohydrate do alot of intermittent fasting
The same death they are afraid of, not to protest for the same children future is still kpaing them.... So sad
That's why diasporans don't want to come back. Nigeria is not easy right now. No medical care and alot going on. Its not only Lagos, all the 36 states. Except people that does money rituals. Only few people have clean money. There's no government. They all goes to the abroad for their treatment. It's not only blood pressure. High cholesterol, Cancer, eyc. The doctors can't even diagnose because of lack of equipment. People goes to party to party. Aso ebi. There's no Education to help people.
Also there is zero knowledge of cpr!!
Yes they are not looking after themselves.
Hello Aunti B and Aunti B's Executive PA!! Abeg Ms. Obi charge Aunti B Executive prices for your personal services o! 🤣Keep Glowing ladies! 🤩🤩
Obodo Oyinbo, if you like continue to talk and warn us about our health from now till the end of the world, the truth of the matter is there’s no money to go to the hospitals you guys are talking like this because you can afford to go to the hospital and get treated, an average Nigerian doesn’t want to die at all if possible, so please stop this talk, nobody wants to die anyhow in Nigeria, but no money, go to government hospitals and see how bad you are treated, no drugs, no doctors, no money to bribe the nurses and doctors in general hospitals to treat you anyhow, not proper treatment oo. When you talk like this it means you’re not in tune with our reality in Nigeria, please give us soft solutions on what to do.
@jokebalogun6932 Did you listen to the whole video, because they acknowledged that most people can’t afford medical care. Is that not why they started by referencing how they sell bread in the market. But let me ask you this, what is one of the biggest industries in Nigeria? Event planning! We know many can’t afford medical care but how about those that complain they don’t have money for medical checkup but let their mama kpai and they hussle to find money for big burial. Let’s prioritize our health like we do aso ebi and faaji. Invest in a small blood pressure machine to use at home, that’s a start. Avoid carrying extended family matter for head to mitigate stress.
