  • I would have to say, that in my sewing room at least, rotary cutters are like scissors. I have many pairs, and they all function at a good average, but I just have one scissor (Kai #7205!) and one rotary cutter that is the best and easiest to use.
I recently started using the Martelli Ergonomic Rotary Cutter, and I have to say that it's truly the best and easiest on the body to use. I don't personally have an issue with wrist or arm strength, but even I can admit that I get fatiqued after cutting out fabric, especially for a quilt. This cutter, available in both left-handed and right-handed versions, makes a huge difference.

Thank you Sara! My first time changing the Martelli blade...This was very helpful. 👍🏻

I love mine , but I find it safer to change the blade by removing the plastic slide out bit first, then the blade can just be put on top of the flower plastic bit and the sliding bit can just be put back on and click in place.
This rotary cutter is a life saver for people with arthritic hands like mine. I have tried a lot of different brands but this one is the best.
It works with all the rulers and templates I have.

Nice video on replacing parts on a Martelli Rotary Cutter. I have several and I love them. I have zero fatigue due to the ergonomic design and have them in the 45mm and 60mm. Truthfully, I use the 60mm much more often than I thought I would & now I rarely use the 45mm. Their blades seem to last forever & when I do a general cleaning, the blades seem like new.

My 60mm cutter is suppose to be delivered tomorrow. I - can - hardly - wait! Actually delaying a trip by 1 day so I can take it with me! 😂

Thank you for this! I got one in a box of items and had no idea how to properly use it. At first it made my finger sore, but now that I know to place the finger on top it doesn't.
If it gets lint, I just slide a straight pin in the and swipe the lint out.
Now I know how to change the blade. Thanks.

Recently got this rotary and I love cutting with it but..... I have many rotary cutters and this is by far the most dangerous blade change. The blade doesn't slide in easily at all in fact it's so tight you think it can't possibly go in so you have keep messing with it. Love the needle nose pliers idea thank you for that

I have a 60 Martelli cutter. The reduced stress is great for me since I have wrist tendonitis. I did make the mistake of getting replacement blades with notches - don’t do that! I usually read all instructions and don’t recall learning about taking the plastic parts off. Thanks for that!

I love this rotary cutter, but changing the blade feels like running through traffic blindfolded with scissors. I have a pair of needlenose pliers that give me comfort and saftey. The screw goes the OPPOSITE way you expect. They work super well with Stripology rulers. In fact they work best with these rulers over other cutters. Also you can use non-martelli blades but get a round hole replacement blades not one with notches.

This is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE rotary cutter. I will NEVER go back to the Fiskars or Olfa cutters again. I have all 3 sizes of the Martelli and find them so much more accurate and easy to use!

how tight should the screw be? Should I oil the blade? Mine was binding, so I took it apart to clean it but there was no lint to clean out. hmm…

Have Martelli 45 60 like them but u have to be careful when putting the screw back in. If too tight does not work well
