    or from ebay: ebay.us/Z4kp48
    If You've Accidentally Spilt #Superglue #Krazyglue #fevikwik on your plastic spectacle lenses all is not lost. I took a clean lens from a pair of spectacles and put super glue on it and let it dry, I did it so you don't have too, then I removed it.
    Note: You Do This At Your Own Risk, Then Chemical Is Volatile So Should Not Be Used In Confined Spaces, Its Also Extremely Flammable So Shouldn't Be Used Be Flame And It Can Melt, Frames, Plastic And Other Objects, And Remove Paint And Coatings And Nail Varnish.

    It actually worked! Very easy. I was fixing my frames and got superglue on one lense. Next time, remember to cover your lenses before gluing frames, or remove both lenses.

      Hi Mark, glad you found it helpful, I still get people giving thumbs downs claiming it doesn't work, super glue is great for some jobs but is an absolute killer for going everywhere and making a mess as so little is require and squeezing the tube fire loads out. Please don't forget to subscribe and check out my other great fixing and repair videos, like this video they all work as I created to solutions for myself and then only after repeating it from scratch to check it wasn't a fluke did I make the videos. Although this video was made 2 years ago I just saw it today. I laughed pretty good with the commentary... you described exactly what I did. Broke my eye glass frames, tried to fix them with super glue, got super glue all over the lens, tried to wipe it off with a tissue paper, made more of a mess and gave up. After watching this video and reading a few comments I am overjoyed and excited to give this a try later today when I find my acetone. Thank you for making my day.

    • @fixed1t

      Wow, thanks! That superglue is a real menace as people know if it gets on the stin it sticks and it does so there is a panic to get it off but everything you them touch gets covered. Let me know when it cleaned up, it does take several wipes to get it all off then a little alcohol to remove any residue or to celebrate job well done ;-) Thanks for selecting and watching this @fixed1t video. I am so excited I came across this video! It's so simple it actually worked! I used my nail polish remover which contains acetone. The other videos have you mixing so many different ingredients it's ridiculous. This is definitely 100% proof it works

    Excellent, thank you. I used this method. The glue on the glass of my glasses was very strong. It could not be removed. I think the acetone I had at home had passed its date. However, I used it and it was removed. I think I should repeat this process several times to make it better. Thank you. for your good manner😊

    You save my butt! I just got a thin smudge of crazy glue an hr ago on my lens, transferred from my finger…was afraid to use any harsh chemical, I knew I can’t use a razor or will possibly scratch my reading glasses, was hesitant that acetone will melt the plastic but rubbed it off fast, then rinse under water with soap & viola! like nothing happened. Thanks!

    I tried this method on a pair of older glasses I had. When I applied the acetone to the affected area it made the superglue more pronounced on the lense. It left a white-ish residue making the glasses unwearable. Not sure what I did wrong........😒

    • @fixed1t
      @fixed1t  5 месяцев назад

    Does it work with nail polish remover?

    • @fixed1t
      @fixed1t  3 года назад

      yes but its slower and tends to leave a messy residue and the extra coats are extra risk of scratching the lenses, also the more time your spend trying to get it off the more chance that you will get some of the remover onto the plastic of the glasses and ruin it, pure acetone is cheap and worth using. If you look up the ingredients for super glue and gorilla super glue they are roughly the same the only difference is the word Gorilla, which is on it to convince people who have heard how strong Gorilla Glue is, that by paying 10-20 times more for Gorilla Super Glue they are getting something superior to the ten for a dollar cheap packets of superglue. Gorilla do a thicker version which you may not be surprised to hear has less of the chemical that makes it like water so therefore its thicker, but as is not as diluted it has more in the bottle which must lake it 20-40 more expensive ;-) ie Just Marketing they even get to tell its as strong as a gorilla's ? Acetone melts soft and hard plastic, but most plastic lenses in reading and other glasses are made from Polycarbonate which is much stronger. • @fixed1t
      @fixed1t  3 года назад

      The plastic lenses in reading glasses are not soft plastic they are Polycarbonate which is why they are so tough. However the arms and frames are often cheap soft plastic painted with colours, and they will melt, discolour or deform if the liquid gets on them. Unfortunately it made it worse. The Acetone ate into the plastic lenses turning them a shade of white & destroying the glasses.
    The video says to use at your own risk so I was warned before starting.

    • @fixed1t
      @fixed1t  Месяц назад

      Michael I hope you haven't thrown them away, if there is a lot of superglue it first dissolves the glue in the first process, my first application turn out white, I then applied it again and wiped off the residue and it was less white, after the third using a clean area of microfibre almost all the white had gone. I then applied isopropyl alcohol and they were perfectly clear. I had to do this on a whole range of glasses and all have come up great. I hope that helps, if it does feel free to buy me a coffee ;-)
