Should I return to the US to make more money? I had a conversation with my friends about returning to Atlanta, and the US in general to earn more morning. I just got to thinking about reasons why I wouldn't go back to Atlanta and would choose to live in Seoul 10 times out of 10 over Atlanta. What do you all think?

More money made but more bills. You may have more disposable income in Korea just ~ save money and when the exchange rate goes down you keep the savings in dollar account and wait until when you should send money to US.

I have lived in 5 different countries in four different continents, and the last one was the US. It was such an eye opening experience for me. It did make me understand many questions i had before personally. However after 3 years, I couldn't take it any longer and also thought it was not a nice environment for my son. Not only it was dangerous but also invisible influences and messages that the society was producing wasn't something I wanted to sink into my son. Something about it in us, coming from korea, bothered me deeply every time I go outside. no where is perfect, but US was the most inhumane "Developed" country ever i had been. The most developed capitalist country, but the capitalism has eaten up human values and beauty of life. (In saying that, Korea is also following the same path, and it is a bit of concern for me.) Chaos can create great stuffs, but normal people like me can be easily crashed up there. Funny thing is a lot of people in US says they are free, not like some rigid Asian and socialist Europeans, but are they really free? Quite an irony. Someone described US with this one word, and I can't agree more. "Oxymoron"

If you can earn above 100k in ATL, ATL can be decent place to live but many people make below that and that's the problem. Median income is only 60k. You don't want to be poor in the US. Health care can be expensive and public transportation is non-existent and you will be drowning in debt to go to college. Plus, you will be living in dirty and dangerous neighborhood with less amenities. Parks in the poor parts of town can be trashy and dangerous. Middle class and below live better in Korea. I have lived in both. I make more in the US but I feel like I have more disposable income and savings in Korea.

Something so routine as walking outside can be so dangerous in many parts of the city. A friend of mine, a 19-year-old promising student who lived near my street, got shot to death at home by a gunned robber, and there were a few gun-related crimes at the nearby business district. In Georgia it is fairly easy to get a gun permit. It is legal to conceal carry them in bars, grocery stores, even on college campuses. Hospitals, government buildings usually do not allow. And of course any privately owned business can say they aren’t allowed but the state says they can carry them. Some will comply if it’s a private business but others will exert their rights.

Safety and health care are priceless regardless of income. Being a person of colour on top of that adds a layer of danger. I am sorry to hear of your cousin's death - a waste of a young life. A few years ago when the Atlanta spa shootings happened almost all were Asian women men. At least half were Korean women. I couldn't help but think if they were in Korea they might not have had the same opportunities, but they would not have been killed in a mass shooting. Crimes against Black people in North America are spoken about (to an extent) but the ones against Asians are not widely publicized. Many many Asian women have been murdered or attacked (especially since the pandemic) particularly in the States. They are seen as easy targets. Sometimes clubs were Asian nights(most of patrons are Asians) but if you visit the same place next day or next week, they turned out to be about 99% Afro-Americans patrons club. Asian nights never last long in ATL. I experienced this so many times. Koreans in Korea don't have any ideas of 'Personal Space', I believe this is very 'American' or western(?) thing. S. Korea is convenient but not really easy to make money in general but have universal health care (kind of socialistic system, rich pay more). America is a life of loneliness. the average American male no matter how rich or how poor no matter how old or how young lives like a castrated caged animal. At 45 i decided to take my 4000$ a month passive income and retire to south America. Here I have a beautiful latin wife which would have been absolutely impossible in the usa. I a beautiful jetset Miami style high rise condo thats brand new which cost 300$ a month. Life is good overseas i never felt rich before but the truth is in south America i feel like a millionaire with 4k a month in passive income

You are living the life!! "Go on, witcho bad self!!" As my grandma would say. I've heard a lot of men are leaving America these days looking for love overseas. I'm glad you found slice of heaven abroad!

@@francoismarc3 America use to be a place of family life once the American man lost the opportunity to have a decent family life then he has nothing. a decent happy family life is important in my eyes. Girls in America are the bottom of the barrel
