The best part of this sketch is Count Floyd's second commercial, as he covers his face with his cape, stalks forward, and the camera pans back to reveal the Smellorama cans. I remember cracking up when I saw it, because it was so cheesy-as all of "Monster Chiller Horror Theatre" was. Floyd did his best to put a brave face on it. And having grown up with a cheesy monster movie host (we had Doctor Shock in Philadelphia), the spoof rang so true. "Blood-Sucking Monkeys, from West Mifflin, Pennsylvania! Verrry scarry territory...."
West Mifflin is an inside joke; Joe Flaherty is from Pittsburgh; his dad worked for Westinghouse. Bill "Chilly Billy" Cardille was the horror host on WIIC channel 11 back in the day. He also did the weather, if I'm right.
@@Rtkat3 yeah, Dr. Tongue was a recurring character, star of cheesy 3D movies. He and Bruno also turned up in the "Three-C-P One" episode, when Red Rooster flew to fix the satellite. They sat in the back and filmed a 3D "thpathe" movie.
Hard to believe, but there was a movie that used smell o vision. And John Waters did scratch and sniff cards for Polyester. iirc Waters was a SCTV fan. I wonder...
I begin to wonder if by chance viewers in Toronto (1964) were able to pick up WNYS Channel 9 from across Lake Ontario late Saturday night. Mike Price portrayed "Baron DaMon" who introduced the horror B movie of the evening. Count Floyd is darn near looking a bit like Baron!
Scent of Mystery played on TV years ago. Apparently, it was on MTV. I don't remember that part, but I do remember having the scratch and sniff card for it. I also remember one smell making me sick.
There was a card that was distributed at showings of the John Waters movie Polyester that had various scratch n' sniff scents on it, including a fart smell. At points in the movie, a number would appear at the bottom of the screen, and you were supposed to scratch the corresponding number. Idiot boys would scratch the fart smell and stick it in their friends faces, coz a joke is only funny when its done to death.
Dr. Tongue and the stewardesses had me on the floor ! The stewardesses running in place as Bruno undressed them was a riot ! 3 D Monster Vision ( moving back and forth into the camera ) is a great gag !
We lost him yesterday. No more smellovision in 3D smellorama. RIP Count. 😢
I sought out this video when I heard the news. Godspeed, Count.
Thankfully we have a lifetime’s worth of SCTV thanks to the amazing cast and RUclips. 😎
I'm embarrassed to admit how long it took me to realize that vampires don't normally howl.
Hahahahaha
You're not alone.
That’s what makes it even more funny 😄
Speaking of Smellorama when is trump going to quit farting and falling asleep in the courtroom??😬😬😬😬
Thank you Joe, RIP.
Thank you Joe indeed! Hilarious man.
I grew up with SCTV at an age where I actually understood the jokes. Love Dr. Tongue

we had Bowman Body here in VA.
I’m watching for the flashing red dot 🔴
That 3D effect is way better than what we have today
😂
I miss John Candy.
He died too young.. but he is on d-film
He could've worked in a John Waters movie as Divine
@@solitaryman777 guess you missed
'Peter Pan at the Mellonville War Memorial Auditorium'
Rush, signals tour used him for the introduction to " the weapon" part 111 of fear .
I long for these days when weekend tv was fun !
John Candy as Vincent Price has me dying.
"Doctor Tongue's 3-D House of Stewardesses"
Dr. Tongue is also the name of an actor in other sketches with Woody Tobias Jr.

What ever happened to scratch 'n sniff?
Who came up with Doctor Tongue and Bruno, they both are comedy gold?
These days there are Japanese comics with this theme and phone apps, what they're missing is Smell-o-rama.
The film was called Scent of Mystery (which played to, I think, three theatres before the whole technology sank without a trace).
$19.95 then is around 80 bucks nowadays pretty fucking steep
worth it for the magic of... SMELL-O-RAMA
This was from the episode where Robin Williams guest starred.
R.I.P. Joe Flaherty
Congats to Joe Flaherty, a 2021 inductee to the Horror Host Hall of Fame

Yes ! I grew up in Syracuse and remember Baron Damone and Mike Price on WNYS.
Howling makes sense. Herman Munster had Eddie
You could never smell bad to me, babe.
I want to go to Chicago
Plenty to do here
Where do I send my money for the smell o Rama spray? I want it!
You know the weird thing? I'd actually try something like this if it were offered on tv, just for kicks...
