A news anchorman named Floyd Robertson who doubles as a horror show host because the budget on SCTV is pretty low and they can't find the best in horror films to spook the television viewing audience. I loved SCTV.

Joe Flaherty is from Pittsburgh Pa.where there was a local show on Sat. nights ,it was called Chiller Theater and it ran from 1963-1983 it showed 2 horror movies like Dracula, the Mummy etc. and had humorous skit's, in between movies, this is where Joe got a lot of his idea's for the SCT skit of Count Floyd..

Yeah, my grandfather grew up in Pottsville, PA. And he confirmed trhat was those monkey's eating the faces off and the brains out of everyone, that made him skip town at age 16 and go into the US Army. Not a thing to do with at age 16 in Pottsville, you had two choices, either work in a coal mine or join the Army. And considering that his dad died of black young disease in his ealy 40's, made the choice easy for my grandpa Patrick. "You're in the Army now, you're not behind the plow, you'll never get rich, you son of a bitch, you're in the Army now!".

I love this one, but I think my favorite Count Floyd is the episode where (as in this one) they've lost the promised horror film and have to substitute Georgy Girl. The Count then has to summarize the plot of Georgy Girl, playing up it's most horrific aspects "There's this girl. And she's kind of fat. Let me tell you, its really frightening!"

Only Joe Flaherty as Count Floyd could sell Blood Sucking Monkeys from West Mifflin, PA. It wasn't even in 3D, and I still wanted to see it. Damn it Joe, I miss you.

Dunno if this was mentioned, but Mr. Flaherty was born and raised in Pittsburgh (and please spell it with an H at the end, dammit!) before he moved to Chicago to join the Second City troupe there. West Mifflin is a suburb of Pittsburgh, so there ya go.

Joe was from West Mifflin, to be more specific. He went to the same High School as Jeff Goldblum. (West Mifflin North)

Reminds me when I was a kid in the 60s, some T.V.stations late on Saturday night really bad B horror movies, with a crazy type host. We'd stay up and watch them anyway 😅!
