- Earth Domes are built with earth. The earth material is composed of natural clay, aggregates and water, with a special proprietary formulation of Earth Mix from Tertex International that includes Fibrin23 & Durus (construction microfibers), compressed in sandbags. Its shape is inspired by CalEarth Institute’s SuperAdobe technology that has been tested to withstand an earthquake of 8.2 magnitude.

And +45C degress temperature proof. With climate change increasing the number of extreme high temperature days its a huge advantage

The angle of camera seems missing a lot of details of the inside house, they just focus in small details with narrow bit angle views not showing entire rooms around first specially a great room as I have no idea how it looks like when no complete kitchen/wc/bedrooms mentioned in the shows??

I'm with Victor. She called what we call dirt, Earth. From now on, that is how I will refer to it as well. The entity below our feet is not dirt. It is the Earth.

Thank you Ate. My payag had a remodel last week. A pleasant breeze installed skylights. Unfortunately, the spinning and twisting breeze had my yaya cowering under the table. The skylight had to be replaced with tin roof. Sooo! I intend to build a small two story dome on this pawned property as a test. The cr was not damaged but the kitchen was trashed with the roof. A concrete floor and hollow block rocket stove are in the works.

I wonder how long it takes for the dirt to concred'ize ... sand takes 5-10 years atleast to turn into stone/concred in bags when unmoved and exposed to rain.

If you us porous bags like plastics hessian they will breath and moderate internal humidity.

Why didn't you use limestone inside of bags?
Not necessary, youtube " Green Dream Project " watch how it's done you will see its not needed.
The layers all thru out the structure inside and outside is just overwhelming. The inside should have been plastered to a flat finish following the contour of the dome structure which gives the house a more normal feeling and a cozy one too. Building with rammed earth is very suited to the Philippines and I am glad method of building is finally available here. One thing the video producer intentionally omitted is the range of prices one can construct these dome homes with.
I agree. Not a fan of the layered look. Also, if I was building, I would incorporate some straight walls to compliment the design. I live in Alaska. It’s my dream to build a cold weather version of the eco dome.

RUclips "Green Dream Project " there bags only cost .20 cents each. They have a video breaking down all the cost. I think total cost of materials is around 5 to 7 thousand US DOLLARS. Including plumbing and electrical, barbed wire and some imported gravel and tools. It's very hard labor but they are doing it and almost finished.

Although it is cute and fairytale-ish, I'd have to say the great room doesn't offer enough room for seating and entertainment and the echo would drive me crazy.
I'd also fear one of them 50 lb earth sacks would dislodge and fall on my head during a quake.
Those are good concerns.
Yes the echo is a huge disadvantage. But if you don't do Zoom conferences or edit RUclips videos you can get used to it. Look around there are square sized earthbag designs with large windows that prevent it, but than you have to add a traditional roof and it's not a dome anymore.
In USA they have been earthquake tested. And passed with extremely good marks. In fact the testing equipment kept breaking because they are so solid and will not move the way conventional homes do. Watch " Green Dream Project " this young couple in Arizona USA are building one right now it almost finished.

Probably $50k-$150k usd if you are just looking to hire people or buy, but if you decided to host a workshop, help build, and hire the teachers of the workshop to help you finish, it can definitely be done under $35k i believe
And if you are just building with yourself, family, friends, it will definitely take much longer, but you also most likely not even pay $15k total
