I live near Italy, TX where there is an entire dome home village, much built by David South. They generally have 1 to 2 open houses a year. I never get tired of touring them. Highly recommend it.
The only reason I’m considering a dome house is so I can live in the Gulf. Where there are Hurricanes. Dome homes survive the winds and if they can be placed the right way, they can survive the surges as well.

I loved seeing this type of videos. It confirms my belief that dome architecture has both practical and spiritual influences. In Islamic architecture, all houses of worship have domes in the center as a representation of the heaven's sky and the connection with God. The unbroken shape also means the unity within the creation and also with the divine. There is a peaceful energy under a dome that even non-believers aknowledge. The acoustic element was also sought since everyone in the mosque needed to hear the sermon, in times where there were no sound amplifiers.
I stayed there with my son and daughter-in-law a couple yrs ago. We enjoyed it! I recommend it if you get the chance. It's comfortable and unusual. Perfect for Sedona!

I just love offgrid homes. Specially dome and geodesic homes, they are really cool and beautiful! I didn't know about that contstruction technique using baloons. Very interesting and practical! The home featured in the video is very cool. I dream of living in a dome home someday, but for now the circumstances of my life don't allow me to do so. I would construct a more futuristic dome house, and probably consisting of more than one dome. Perhaps four. I don't know. And I would seek for a more futuristic look, but not exatcly synthetic. I mean with a rustic aspect but somewhat resembling a sci-fi contruction, all with round and curved shapes in the interior, but all naturally lit in the day. The cabinets would be as much as possible integrated with the house, made of the same material which the house itself would be made of. I would aim for a sustainable, eco-friendly house.
I love monolithic sprayed domes! Some part of me wonders if they can be DIY constructed using aircrete which is lighter but sometimes easier to work with. Regardless they are so cool!
I would love to build a little village with Earthships and dome homes or other sustainable houses, down in Central America. I lived in Costa Rica for 9 years and I miss it. Being able to grow your own food and medicine all year, and catch saltwater fish to eat fresh, is a fantastic way to live. Domes make a lot of sense to me because they're strong, wind won't blow them over, they shouldn't leak in the rain and the tall ceilings provide natural airflow. With a berm of soil you could copy the cooling tubes on Earthships and have free "AC".
I started researching dome homes recently because of many of the structural and insulative properties as well as the reduced building cost versus traditional square wood framed homes. I also learned a few years ago that, as both the builder and the owner stated, these rounded homes makes one feel better and at peace. Its 100% true that rounded (yurt), domed (cave), coned (teepee) or pyramidal shaped structures positively effect your spirituality and can help increase one's level of consciousness with the proper knowledge.

Interesting, there is a Family Building Foam domes down here in Cochise County, but in a different sort of way very affordably. Lucky we have the Owner Builder Opt Out permit down here that give folks the opportunity to build alternative such of structures with out the Hassle of normal permits.
cost per sq. ft. (2013) $ 130. So a 1,000 sq. ft. AirCrete Dome be ... $ 130K. Wow the house there in Sedona, be over $780 k in 2013. Can't imagine anyone not a billionaire afford to build a home 1/2 that size.
For a change, I have actually seen this house in person, from this very angle (opening shot)! It makes it seem more intimate and real. I've never been inside. This view is coming down the last stretch of Schnebly Hill Road.
Where can I find more information on the construction design and methods? The builder’s claim of R-85 insulation seems preposterous but I’m open to evidence and would like to know how that was achieved.
Homes like this, fast to construct, low cost to build and economical to maintain, should be being built en masse to combat the crazy housing/ homeless situation that is epidemic throughout the western world at the moment. We've been 'homeless' for nearly 2 years now. I would absolutely be willing to be involved in building our own home along these lines. If I had the resources, and gvmts burnt the red tapes, I would be building these. For anyone who needed a home.

Great design. I think ill consider building in this way with one exception id use hempcrete instead of concrete and i dont think id use the balloon system but because the hempcrete is so much lighter rebar and bamboo perhaps
After having a yurt studio for almost two decades I believe human beings think better and feel better in a round space. I agree with the gentleman one hundred percent. Our energetics as human beings certainly does not move in squares so my theory is that is why this is so.
I like it, this kind of home should be located in tornado alley, a place where farmers loose everything. This type of house 🏡 could be a barn, house, grain storage, whatever a person need it for.
What a beautiful space. An amazing home. Can you get a full in depth tour please as that would be so interesting to see it in its full beauty. I would live there without hesitation and without a doubt I would stay there ie rent the air b&b part of it if Lisa UK xxxx
I love these unique looking and very organic homes. Problem is that I don't like it when people come into my home, past the living room. Home is a sacred sanctuary to me, so I wouldn't share it with people. With the exception of family and very close friends. At least if the domes had entrances that don't intrude into the main house, that'd be awesome.
Ken Johnson (the guy who had these built) wasn't telling the truth (@ 2:30). The cost to build a Monolithic dome is NOT "less than half" of conventional, it is about the same as a premium build. If you factor in the lifetime cost of maintenance and operation (they are very durable and energy efficient) they become cost effective, but obviously if you move away those savings are not realized.
Some people are so lucky. All I can do is dream of living in one of these Domes. I was never lucky to own a home in my life .But everyone around me has there own place. I live in a one bedroom Apt I hate it so much. But you guys are Lucky good luck with these gorgoues Domes.
The interior design unfortunately is so loud and active, I can barely focus on the original building structure. A calm, minimal and natural interior would do it so much more justice.

We were there 3 yrs ago…didn’t see the dome, we’ll go back just to see it!
It reminds me of the Baba Papa and Baba Mama books.
This home is an idea one can really enjoy to really live in.
Interesting, there is a Family Building Foam domes down here in Cochise County, but in a different sort of way very affordably. Lucky we have the Owner Builder Opt Out permit down here that give folks the opportunity to build alternative such of structures with out the Hassle of normal permits.
it looks like a luxury DBZ home , i absolutely love the aesthetic
I love your dome houses, i want to know more on how to build these
I think this is my favorite built so far.
cost per sq.
Fabulous! Makes so much sense, perfect shape to get through the climate changes. Anchors one to a purer Earth connection . Great social spaces!
Purer earth connection? You sound like a new age freak!
@@gigiis526 You sound judgmental.
Where can I find more information on the construction design and methods? The builder’s claim of R-85 insulation seems preposterous but I’m open to evidence and would like to know how that was achieved.
It's unusually well decorated. I wonder who did the interior decor? It looks professional.
Truly inspired
I would love to see round edge floor rugs in those lovely spaces.
Too much talking, not enough showing. I wanted to see the inside.
Very interesting 👍🏼 Thanks for sharing this Video 👍🏼👍🏼
Beautiful
What building technique did you use? Did you mix techniques?
LOVE your videos--- I've always liked seeing unusual and unique homes--- by the way- you have an absolutely GORGEOUS smile.. (just an honest well deserved compliment- nothing more)... :) THANK YOU for your wonderful videos..
Sedona is so authentic.
Excellent Geodesic alternative textiles for interior quarry dome design .
Wonderful concept for an accessible home. Easy wheelchair access. Could install glass elevator. Concept still used in Trulia.
Amazing ❤
What a beautiful space. An amazing home. Can you get a full in depth tour please as that would be so interesting to see it in its full beauty.
I would live there without hesitation and without a doubt I would stay there ie rent the air b&b part of it if
Lisa UK xxxx
Love it! ❤❤❤❤
Awesome home & lovely couple!
Very nice! You should check out unique homes in Crestone, CO.
I love these unique looking and very organic homes.
Problem is that I don't like it when people come into my home, past the living room.
Home is a sacred sanctuary to me, so I wouldn't share it with people.
With the exception of family and very close friends.
At least if the domes had entrances that don't intrude into the main house, that'd be awesome.
was this done with aircrete? can you post the name of the builder/contractor as well? thanks! beautiful homes
The size seems crazy to me, but the concept seems amazing.
The great thing about round dome homes is wind just goes around it! Soo that makes it tornado/hurricane resistant.
How do you fix the stair pole on the top?
Very cool. I want one too!
Jaw dropping ❤
Ken Johnson (the guy who had these built) wasn't telling the truth (@ 2:30). The cost to build a Monolithic dome is NOT "less than half" of conventional, it is about the same as a premium build.
If you factor in the lifetime cost of maintenance and operation (they are very durable and energy efficient) they become cost effective, but obviously if you move away those savings are not realized.
Exactly! Monolithic Domes cost about the same as conventional homes. We are building a Monolithic Tri-Domes right now in NC.
Oh wow, that is NICE!!!
Some people are so lucky. All I can do is dream of living in one of these Domes. I was never lucky to own a home in my life .But everyone around me has there own place. I live in a one bedroom Apt I hate it so much. But you guys are Lucky good luck with these gorgoues Domes.
This is really interesting!
The type of house that I would like to live in! Awesome 👍
The interior design unfortunately is so loud and active, I can barely focus on the original building structure. A calm, minimal and natural interior would do it so much more justice.
"This place looks like a magical oasis of tranquility! 🌟 A dome home not only captivates with its appearance but also provides a sense of security and comfort. I'm enchanted by the harmony and positive vibes emanating from every corner of this beautiful place! 💖✨ #DomeLiving #SafetyFirst #PositiveVibes"
Awesome. Plus i love the music
Does the connection dwelling create dampness?
Beautifully decorated.
I wished it was allowed in Germany , to build like this or in other shapes and use alternative materials,......beautiful content :)
is there a way to get contact info for the builders??? I would love to build my home similar to this
I want one of these in Maryland..with a large Car garage.
omg it looks nice..is this the beginning of tatooine?
Do you contract to build the houses or domes? Looking for prices
