      Tributary House Ltd. Is very correct!!!
      They are also very pest resistant from insects to rodents, they find it extremely difficult to get in unless one brings them in or a door or window is left open unattended! They are also normal/popular bullet proof, or at least the bullets most people use and even most police and military use until one starts getting into the big guns!!!

    Your claims of flooding not being an issue would be more convincing if paired with actual pictures instead of narrowly focused details.

    • @noworkzone682
      @noworkzone682 4 года назад +1

      Your claim on asking for proof would be more convincing if you showed some knowledge in this matter.
      There is no need to convince someone who does not know about flood, earthquake and so on. If you don't know about construction and are here to learn... learn, then research why with this type of shape and construction there is no concern of either.
      Instead of wanting knowledge you don't have for free.
      Educate yourself and you will understand it... either way do as you wish. Will leave you a tip to an obviously person who does not want to research. Do 90% soil, 10% cement. Since flood is your great concern.

    In 8 years since my first earth bag build, this video is well done and very factual on point...
    Today I'm working on my second full house and stepping up the earth home game... I'm using both tires and bags, because I'm by myself, so tires Don't need to be covered immediately, I'm also doing a crawl space instead of berm earth in classic U shape, thus using it as my cooling tube,
    I also am going to incorporate indoor and outdoor connected ponds where fish can swim indoor and I'm hoping can bridge a year round pond through winter...
    I'm also trying to develop a free power station using a water catchment and water turbine generator fueled by solar and high output pond pump,
    Oh, and incorporating a worm composting house to plumb into grow beds year round as well...
    Add my skills in common build techniques I will finish it up in current innovated products and fixtures so the common folk can actually see it's not only the same looks but better in every way... This was fueled by everyone who didn't support me on my first, claiming it was a mud hut...
    My God nod came my first snow fall, my new born special needs daughter was 6 months old, no blanket just a diaper sleeping, outside temp was -5 but my inside temp was 68degrees... A small wood stove fire kept it 80 plus all day...
    I did my first project with 5 grand, no income, 90% salvaged materials and 2years of living in it before a bitter divorce...
    This building technique should be universal and current code, because it's hands down stronger and smarter period...

    This is earth bag construction which is good. It is not "rammed earth" construction, which is a completely different animal. Rammed earth would be forms where bare soil was compacted between the forms, and then the forms are removed and reused to build another wall, and another wall is formed and the forms are moved again.

    • @howdychick30
      @howdychick30 6 лет назад +4

      Lucas Miller are you familiar with earthships? I think an earthbag/earthship hybrid is very doable. Instead of using tires, use earthbag but still waterproof the exterior as you would a regular earthship wall, though I'd personally feel safer if there were a buttress or two added in for extra stability/strength. But to answer your question: Yes! It is possible. There are even plans for such a house on the internet under natural building house plans.

    • @thaidozy
      @thaidozy 7 лет назад +2

      The bags are really only needed to hold the shape of the compressed earth until it sets hard. Depending on air temps and direct sunlight hours, it should take somewhere between a week to a month to completely set rock hard. You don't have to wait for it to dry to "plaster' inside and out either which is good to keep things moving along.
      I'm glad I did one of these... once.

    • @theducklinghomesteadandgar6639
      @theducklinghomesteadandgar6639 5 лет назад +2

      Pet Sputnik
      Bonzo the Beast is correct!
      The building is a rammed earth building when done as one packs each layer! The bags make it possible to have a form that doesn't have to be dismantled and reassembled for each layer its just left in place and more flexible! It also gives one more options than typical rammed earth homes! So it will not matter if the bag deteriorates! Also the bags will be covered and so deterioration will be much much slower!!!

    • @Thoracius
      @Thoracius 3 года назад

      I think plastic that is not exposed to UV light, mechanical abrasion, or the elements (e.g. sits still, encased, cool, and dark) will last a very very long time. If the bags did fail, you would be left with mechanically stabilized rammed earth, which is also very strong building material that can last thousands of years if protected from erosion. The walls must be protected from moisture as well, otherwise the barbed wire will be the first thing to rot out.

They can also be bought out of China but need to order in bulk, a minimum number, but the extras tend to sell easily!!! One can also fill plastic bottles and build in many different styles finding all of the same benefits including quakes, tornados, hurricanes, fires, and list goes on and on!!! They can be built in any shape and still hold up quite well! Nice seeing you again!!!

      All of the above are in plural format so also try in singular as well, i.e.
      endless sandbag, sand bag, earthbag, earth bag...endless woven sandbag, sand bag, earthbag, earth bag
      continuous sandbag sand bag, earthbag, earth bag or continuous woven with the variations of types of bag afterward
      If the money is an issue for anyone or recycling is more important, one can gather plastic bottles and fill with anything but water food or air, so dirt, sand, trash etc. and use like bricks! Can use cob motar mix to hold together and the cover with chicken wire or fish net or string crisscrossed back and forth over all of the caps creating a netting, and then cob over! Most people point the bottles in the same direction, i.e. On one wall the caps will all face either inside or outside! I am going to do every other one facing in and the other facing out and do the wire or netnor string on both sides which will make the walls that much more strong! Doing the walls this way is a little slower because of filling the bottles but there is only the cost for string fish net or chicken wire and straw if it must be bought!
      One can find ways of building either way here on youtube! My little homestead has quite a few smallish buildings and projects using earthbags! If I were going to use earthbags I would still use chicken wire or netting to help adhere the cob or stucco material inside and out just unail it to the bags! If using cob for the outside be sure to seal it properly so erosion is less likely and if in a more rainy area give a decent sized over hang or hat to help protect from the rains but a good seal, the final layer having fine chopped straw or manure in it or cattail reed fluff added to mixture and added linseed oil or a lime plaster will help prevent errosion and one simply reapplies the plaster or oil annually or biannually

    The parts that seem difficult to me are plumbing, electrical, and the foundation.
    I guess after buying the land ( we will be in Mexico ) , drilling a well , and I guess we’d do solar but not sure.

    without tension on it I hardly see what the barbwire does. maybe I'm missing something on the engineering

      It just acts like mini rebar to help bind the layers and stop the bags from shifting.

      The barbs anchor the wire into the wall and provide friction between courses of plastic. Wall cannot collapse inwards due to compression strength of the dirt. Wall cannot collapse outwards due to tensile strength of the wire. For the wall to move outwards, it would have to stretch the wire, which the wire resists very well.

      @@vincenteasley the wire is under tension as soon as the structure encounters any tensile forces. Just like rebar in concrete.

      If you refer to USA buliding codes it is accepted in many if not most states and becoming more and more popular to do so!!!

    I liked the rammed earth part of this build but I am concerned about the toxicity of the plastic.

    • @robertc.fisher3214

      There is no toxicity once the walls are plastered inside and out. The bags will disintegrate when exposed to sunlight for extended periods.
