I had a 2018, 2020, and now the 2023 Tiguan, and find they got better with each gen. A tad poky is my only complaint (although felt improved between gens I owned), does get great gas mileage, so a trade off there. I think they need to offer a legit Tiguan R with more HP.

I wish people would actually measure trunk space in reviews, especially with vehicles like SUVs. The cubic feet measurement tells you absolutely nothing and is readily available on manufacturers websites. What is really useful is knowing how wide the trunk is between wheel wells and how long it is to the back seats and front seats (3rd row if applicable as well). That tells you whether it's big enough for your dog, or what the biggest piece of wood I can pick up at Home Depot is. Cargo volume tells you none of that. I finally found one video that compares a few SUVs like that and it answered my questions without going to a dealer.

      What video ???

Agreed. We need to know the same to fit a hoist and small powerchair - but such information is so hard to find. Now MPVs are no longer in fashion (!) and SUVs generally do not have the cargo space, our choice is limited. Not halped by the shortage of some cars on Motability (like the Kodiaq)

Dude, this was a great overview of the Tiguan! An Uver driver picked me up in one and I was simple blown away at how sweet the vehicle was. Thanks for the video.

The iron block Ea888 is a proven engine that lasts, It's Aisin 8 speed transmission is the same one found in the RAV 4, configured for Volkswagen engine fitment.

Ah, the continuous limitation of these compact SUV to taller drivers. Now this is where the Korean model have a distinct advantage. The Sorento/Hyundai not only offers 14-way adjustable driver seats, but with power thigh extension, which is a godsend to taller drivers especially on long road trips. The interior materials are also far, far, superior. A much more comfortable place to just to spend time.
I can still remember extended driving in my Jetta and later Passat how short and low the thigh cushions were and how I always needing to carry a pillow to put under my leg to raise and support my aching thighs. That fear is not something I want to have to deal with at this stage in my life. The Tiguan would have been my first choice, but not with all those compromises.
I'm not sure how far the Sorento's steering wheel extends, however. But now that you mention it, that's something I will be sure to check when I go SUV shopping later next year.

Agreed. I was just in the market for a used vehicle in good condition. My two favorites were the Tiguan and Hyundai. I ended up choosing a 2019 Santa Fe ultimate over the 2021 Tiguan SE. The Santa Fe was obviously better equipped but the real win for it over the Tiguan was the more comfortable seats/seating position.

I don't like the confusing buttons everywhere. The seats are incredibly uncomfortable after a few hours, and there's no top light in the trunk area so can't see in there at night. I also don't like how there's no way to keep auto-ignition on/off turned off.

The car has amazing styling, and its actual acceleration seems to surpass the stated claims. Additionally, I find it offers an exceptional, almost luxury car ride quality experience.

Thanks you saved me from purchasing Tiguan. After further research found Tiguan has higher and more frequent maintenance compared to other cars. You don’t hear about this much cause a lot of reviews will just cover the look, features and performance. Leaving out the reliability and longevity of the vehicle.

I wish VW would offer a 6 speed manual with 6th as a crawl gear for offroading. Then I'd buy one in a heartbeat. Oh and the price is nice starting at $30k, not $35k.

Lets talk about a few reasons NOT to buy the Tiguan:
    1. Painfully slow
    2. Boring af
    3. Unreliable
    4. Expensive maintenance

Reasons to buy a Tiguan. Definitely way cooler than a RAV4 or CRV.. lol. German Car. Tunable & Modifiable. I’d rather take a girl on a date in a Tiguan R then a Rav 4 or CR-V 😭.

With a simple software change the EA888 can put out Golf GTI power. And the maintenance costs are not expensive because the supply chains for these SUVs' are in North America now. The tunning possibilities for this motor are massive.
