That turned out great! I'm glad to hear another maker is using this opportunity to push his skills farther than ever. I understand the time constraints. This is the first challenge I've ever done because I finally feel like I have the time to do it.
Truly gorgeous work. Love the guard shape, and think I actually prefer the subtle layers for that piece. The blade turned out perfectly, and the walnut spacer really worked and looked like it absolutely belonged. Overall a very impressive piece.
Thank you. Have not tested it and probably won’t. I made it strictly for the competition. I sell a few here and there. You can find me on Facebook at 4WKNIVES.
I thought i had seen all the contesters of the RUclips challenge, but i did not. Its pretty odd while i did go to the Google Docs page. I really like the blade, certainly a good contester. Greetings, Jeff
for a meat and potato guy i think you did well, i like the end result and could see it being used by one of the Orks in the lord of the rings, the pattern is really nice, good job, and please do something about the wobbly press 😊
Thanks. I appreciate it. I have plans on making press less wobbly. I have had some good advice from some viewers. Just a matter of getting it done. Thanks for watching
You've got a lot of play in the pin at the top of your press where the cylinder meets the top plate. That might be why your press is not squaring up the billets. I would recommend getting a sacrificial metal bearing surface between the pin and the top plate.
I have thought about that. I have been worried that I might do something stupid and put it in a bind or something. Thanks for suggestion. I definitely need to do something
@@4wknives I have some good steel from a roller bearing from an industrial air handler. Big bearings and the races. Might be good to make a knife. I will give them to you if you want. I have some ideas for a cool knife if you would like to hear them.
@@4wknives yeah, I built a 110lb rusty power hammer. Have to make some tweaks and edit videos, hopefully have a good video of it out in a couple weeks.
This "Fantasy" blade turned out fantastic. Caught my attention from the beginning when you'd seen challenges and was now going to go for it. Was blinded by the beauty of the Elven Sword at the end. The coloring, Damascus lines, handle...everything matched up perfectly. Am still in awe at the uniqueness and beauty intertwined. Joined your channel as a subscriber and will definitely pass your videos to my buddies. Thanks for an amazing video and custom blade. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Sweet knife. Love the look and the handle gives it that extra fantasy flare.
Thanks man. I agree. I think the handle makes the knife.

Thank you very much. Guess I need to go watch some episodes again to look.

@@4wknives Look up Babbitt Bearings. It is what they used to do before roller bearings were a thing. Also, a brass sleeve is a good sacrificial metal.
I will do that. I truly appreciate the advice. I would love to get this thing squared up
Nice work here!
Thank you very much
What part of OK? In OKC myself.
