That accuracy is impressive considering it's a smoothbore cannon that is barely large enough to fit the projectile, which is an oblong cylinder shape flipping end over end when it leaves the barrel instead of a ball.
When I was a kid the civil war re-enactors used to use beer cans filled with cement when they live fired their cannons since cannon balls were so expensive. 😂
Bill Bopperton well, that doesn’t make any sense, Ice is not heavier in on itself (if you freeze one kilogram it Coca-Cola, in a closed container the ice can’t weight more that one kilogram) Also, if it weights more, how does water ice float in water? Touché
Bill Bopperton water expands when frozen so the same volume of ice is lighter than liquid water when frozen. It does become HARDER when frozen, though. And sharper, potentially.
The final result is very interesting and the distance that it reached at the end is very good for the amount of gunpowder and the weight of the can, in my opinion is a very good job
You break into someones house, as your finishing looting one room, your about to cross the hallway to get to the other room, as your halfway across, you hear a hissing sound, you turn and look, then froze as there is before you a small canon with presumably the owner behind with his box of matches, it fires and lets loose a can of coke hurtling towards you at terminal velocity, it hits its mark, but doesnt break as the owner had the liquid inside frozen as if he wanted the chance to use it, he smiles devilishly as you lay there with heavy injuries thanks to that frozen beverage, so your forced to watch as he re-loads the cannon, he slips in another round, this time of the fanta brand, he lowers it at your crotch region, and lights the fuse, you throw the coke lying beside, a bit bent, but otherwise intact, you overshot the cannon but hit the owner, but he doesn't flinch, as he watches the cannons fuse guzzling away, it fires, the round hits a bit below the crotch and hits the legs, it causes immense pain, possibly fracturing more bones, you faint, later waking up in the hospital, as the police arrived to find the owner, about to put another round through your skull to end you with a grin on his face.
Holy crap this was beyond entertaining! I especially loved the fact that it was a slow and heavy projectile, delivering a ton of kinetic energy into the target. This is why I love artillery so much!
Made me appreciate the power contained even in a tiny 22lr shell (from what I could tell) that little bit of gunpowder can really send stuff down range, great video!
@@TheMasheenist was also what I was referring to from what I can see dosent have a rim and it seems he uses the same case in each video and it seemed to match his I belive 9mm muzzle fairly well but the 22 still has a good bit of power
I would love to know what kind of velocity you're getting out of those cans. That looks incredible! Those cans(relatively heavy) are ripping out of that cannon and carrying all that energy to the targets and dumping it almost perfectly. So much cooler than the ones that use 5.56 blanks, like 100x cooler than those
I’m not sure it would fire correctly. A closed soda can can hold hundreds of pounds per square inch. If you opened it i bet it might blow hole through the bottom, maybe if you pack the dirt the bottom is thicker then the rest of the can also.
Its a relatively low pressure explosion pushing in the cavity on the bottom of the can, which creates a vortex of lower pressure circulating around instead of simply ramming into a flat surface, combine that with the walls of the cannon preventing it from deforming outwards (I assume the length/diameter of the cannon took a bit of tweaking to get right), you end up with a propelling force instead of a destructive force. As far as the bees though, I have no clue lol
Good engineering making crazy stuff, love it! 😁 The thing about the can, the bottom is usually concave a bit like a pellet skirt, so the initial compression will help expand the can tightening in the bore.
I couldnt help myself feeling about the total waste of soda. What a consumerist society when we're able to use bullet that are primarily meant to be drink. But really fun canon nonetheless xD
