    Dear friends,
    Welcome to Meanwhile in the Garage.
    This video is for Educational and Demonstration purposes only!
    Since childhood, I dreamed of making a miniature cannon. Although many years have passed, the passion never faded. So, I decided to bring this idea to life and share the process with you. By following this video, you can build your own mini cannon. Note that you'll need a workshop, a lathe, and a milling machine. It'll take a few weeks, but it's worth the effort!
    Feel free to share your crazy ideas or suggestions in the comments below.

    Nice. My bother built a ton of these back in the 80's. His though were not cast but machined from Monel. They were designed to be swivel guns and mounted on the rails of sailboats and yachts. Bore was golf ball size, whatever that is and standard load was 1/4ib black powder and half pound of 1/2in steel shot. Fouth of July was something!

      Mais je ne pense pas le rendre fonctionnel. Il faut encore que je fasse l'affût de Marine en bois (celui de campagne est trop compliqué), et je n'ai pas percé de trou pour la mèche.

    For the drill that was stuck, Brass alloys can be pretty catchy when drilling with already existing holes. To avoid that, i just "unsharp" the drill bit by running its cutting blades with a sharpening stone. Works like a charm, just need to sharpen the drill bit again after.

    • @GaisaSanktejo
      @GaisaSanktejo 4 года назад +2

      I discovered that the hard way myself, though I'm reluctant to dull and re-sharpen my larger bits.
      So far, I've been able to straight drill brass without pre-piloting the holes, which eliminated the chatter, jamming and the awful noise!

    • @SuperPhexx
      @SuperPhexx 2 года назад

      Also, masonry drill bits are a good option for drilling softer metals. Only caveat is that the carbide bit (usually) has a larger diameter than the shank that _can_ cause deep holes to curve slightly. However, this can be solved by grinding the carbide insert down to the diameter of the spiral.
      I spent a Weekend years ago grinding a cheap drill bit set down to all the nominal dimensions. I did have to grind down the diameter of the spiram of a couple drills as they were slightly 'overzied'.
      Recently I got myself a much better diamond grounding kit and completely altered the geometry of the drilbits to be highly self centering. Because even after grinding the cutting bit down they could ween off ever so slightly...
      As a bonus they also work on hardened steel!
      But for regular cold rolled steel normal hss is still preferable due to the much higher cutting times..
