It is a huge boon for the channel to now have Damon and Andrew doing tutorials, they are some of Team GB's finest athletes from the Taekwondo team. I think they are both exceptional in regards to both their skills and their coaching. Glad you appreciate it as much as I do, thanks for the great comment!

this tutorial is highly specific to a Olympic rules Tae Kwon Do match. id much rather see a TKD specialist show me how to apply TKD techniques over a broad spectrum of situations. self defence, no holds barred fighting, etc

I get where you are coming from, we all have our own personal preferences when it comes to watching tutorials from within any system. Here, as you pointed out, Damon is concentrating on a coaching tutorial aimed more at Olympic style TKD players but in fairness the mechanics could quite easily be adapted for use elsewhere. As he mentions, he is from a kickboxing/points fighting background and this technique could more than transition for use in either arena. The kind of tutorial you mention is just simply a different approach, neither better nor worse than this. I always say to instructors featured to coach tutorials on whatever you want, this then is simply wanted Damon wanted to cover on this occasion. I am sure in future someone will teach a tutorial on TKD in the manner you would like to see. In the meantime, I hope you enjoyed this tutorial regardless as well as any of the many others featured on this channel, thanks for taking the time to watch and comment!!

Need to visit a good ITF TKD instructor.
Crescent kicks and spinning kicks can be killer to offensive opponents. I suspect Jamie Goulding might be able to help you there. Dunno if Stuart has videos of any good ITF TKD self-defence tutors on his channel.
I agree though - this sort of thing is mostly useless in actual fighting outside of the specific niche ruleset of olympic TKD... Nobody in MMA or street-fighting is going to try and attack you in side-stance with a chambered snapping head kick...
Also, Damon is very camp haha, bless him :)

Torpid DOW im more impressed with the pro TKD rules fighters. But I'm especially impressed with DK Yoo, his blend of systema and TKD is super impressive. Of course the best would be like the Koren military or police force but that's unrealistic lol
The closer it can be to a street fight the more serious I take it.

Emir EC There isn't one system of pro TKD. Some pros fight under this shitty olympic WTF style. Do you mean ITF TKD?
I don't know anything about systema tbh but since it has similarities to the ubiquotous "Krav Manga" that apparently everyone is a master of now I have my doubts about its practicality.
Something I want to see fighters use more are heel-striking crescent kicks. I started to use them myself recently in sparring for MMA and get a damn lot of value out of them despite the fact that I'm only 5'5 and really, a high weight for my height (I intend to fight at lightweight). If I can catch people off and potentially get knock-outs by landing clean heel strikes with a lot of momentum as a 165cm lightweight I think some lanky dudes could really fuck people up with them. Yet we never it in MMA.

Torpid DOW there is a style of Tae Kwon do called Pro TKD or something like that. Pro is a Koren word. Basically it's TKD kickboxing. Very rare to find
Systema and Krav Maga are not similar. They are just two martial arts designed for the military. I encourage you to do some research, I think you will find systema to be very valuable to your MMA, assuming your teacher is good. I myself did MMA for 5 years so I hope I can recognise legit martial arts over phony ones.
I agree very much with what u said about the heel crescent kick. MMA has developed an attitude where alot of people are afraid to try new things, so very often we see the same moves in every fight

    • @konpoy

@@cypresspuz he doesn't have to :) he is a real fighter and most TKD fighters are pussies that just learned distance, movement, timing and placement and so on and keep it safe because modern TKD is 90% about technic. But that's not what makes one a fighter. I hope you understand that! Fighting is an act of faith nothing more and nothing less. Get it!

KEEP YOUR HANDS UP! THAT"S THE COUNTER TO THAT COUNTER! I've seen it tried a number of times and the other person get dinged/clocked/ or worse one time, knocked out. This is a tag game!! Cage fighting/Street should be what this channel drills! Thumbs down.

Hook kicks are known to creep through guards. Keeping hand up exposes the body too much, which is suicide in taekwondo. Plent of mma fighters fight with hands down, please leave if you're ignorant or close-minded.

Joao Cardisus Would you rather get hit in the body with a hook kick or your head?...that's what I thought. Most MMA fighters get knocked out when their hands are down. Basic fighting. Condition your body and you don't have to worry so much about hits. It only takes 2 pounds of force to knock someone out. The average slap contains 7-10 lbs. That's just a good slap..imagine a kick. Sorry but not letting the uninformed people get deceived watching this. Learn some common sense.

That guy really got out of breath just showing the kick in the first few seconds. Ridiculous.

The timelines in filming the tutorials are not always linear unfortunately, just like in the movies, we film some sequences first and then others towards the end. Trust me, Damon is not out of breath after just throwing a few kicks, that segment had been done back to back with a lot of other high energy filming and as time was an issue there had been no rest taken. You have to realise, all the fighters and instructors on this channel are donating their time and expertise free of charge for the benefit of everyone watching. As such, we sometimes have to get them done quickly and without any practise. Damon is a phenomenally fit and talented Olympic TKD player. I hope you enjoyed the tutorial regardless, thanks for taking the time to watch!!
