    Very nice apartment mate. Samui is very beautiful. Use to live there in 2018 .only difference is im trying to work online full-time so I can be sure I get money in frequently. Worst mistake I made was to travel on money I saved without getting any money in. It cut my holiday short and wasn't very enjoyable. that's one thing I've learned while traveling . And im like you very down to earth if I have food place to sleep and work out... im happy. Use to drink a lot but now I barely drink. All the best 😎

      Prices have definitely risen in the past 6-12 months at a much sharper rate than all the 7 or so years I've lived here put together! Hua hin and Chiang Mai are both a little cheaper than Samui but honestly I think I'd struggle. 40k is the minimum I'd want to try and survive on, although honestly I spend more than that these days 😪 ... Thank you for your kind comment 🙏

    I pay 20,000 baht a month for a two bedroom in Pattaya. I have an in with the landlord or it would be 5-10 more. Except in my little gated community, I don't know anyone paying that little or a house. I know of condo's that could be has for 15k that meet western standards pretty much. For 8-10k you would have to live like a thai, no air-con, no kitchen, unless outside burner. Not so clean, and you may be the only English speaker in the building.

    Really informative video man! This year I also plan to move with my boyfriend and two dogs to Thailand. :) What's the situation with street dogs? We are a little bit worried about that. Do they come up to you during your walks? on your videos it seems not to be a problem. Thank you for all the information! :)

    • @thethairishsun
      @thethairishsun  Год назад

      Hi Natalia, they can certainly be a problem when they don't know your dog. The worst ones aren't the dogs with no owners but the ones that live outside of where ever they get fed- they are very territorial. If your dog is on a lead you'll be mostly left alone as they do not attack humans (at least I've never seen it)

      Best bet is driving around ringing numbers as a lot of Thai owners don't advertise but Facebook marketplace is good and Airbnb or booking.com will give you an idea where is cheap and you can go negotiate in person 👍

  • @james989
    @james989 2 года назад +1

    I think about 50k per month would allow a good lifestyle. I remember the first time I came to Thailand in 2008 the exchange rate was about 65 baht to the pound. It did feel much cheaper back then. Living on Koh Samui is probably going to be more expensive than the mainland (excluding Bangkok)? Les in Thailand seems to live a good life for 55k in Rayong.

    • @thethairishsun
      @thethairishsun  2 года назад +1

      Hi James, I totally agree- 50k would be a decent budget for almost anywhere in Thailand... But, as you say, if you ok with living in rural areas I reckon you could potentially cut it down as low as even 30k
