Fantastic video Tom. So nice to see that although Carl, your boss, he's also a friend and was genuinely happy for you, when you caught biggest carp in Holland. Great to see no egos overshadow, your team fishing

Loved the video Tom. It was really nice to see you and your buddy (Carl) together again👍 By the way, I always appreciate your humor - I think the funniest part of the video (at around 16:07), was when you asked Carl “do you always walk like that”, and Carl responded “No”! and you followed up with “you should”! Great video Tom I walk the dog around the reservoir quite a bit and always thought I wouldn’t know where to start with fishing it and don’t really like fishing at long distance, so found this video very interesting with plenty of info about fishing close in 🎣
Cheers Angus! and yeah, I think on most venues people just blast it to the horizon just because they can, however, put the time into the baiting and you can catch them just as easily from the near margin, and a lot more comfortably!
You need an Engwe Engine X electric bike, it is designed for off road use, suspension front and back, a nice strong shelf over the rear wheel. You can can all you need on the bike with paniers and the shelf with rod holdall on your back for a day session. Or add a trailer to tow behind that can carry a bedchair and kit for an overnighter or a couple of nights. Good luck!
@@tomwilshaw it weren’t so hard when they hadn’t seen hooks, blanked on first trip had 4 on 2nd. To be fair I’d fished it a lot more Pike since late 80s. Me and the old bailiff did Carp with in 1990 but that plan didn’t work so well😂

Hey Tom, great work as usual with the video. Why don't you run a hammock with the tarp fastened higher over the top, that way no punctured air mattresses, and you really don`t have to be that high off the ground, for when you get a bite. Old school style my friend 😄
See that would have saved a lot of hassle... Not least of all, the earwig that crawled into my ear at 2am during that second session 😂 I'm not sure how I'd get on sleeping in a hammock but maybe I'll look into it! The next spot on the res I'm thinking of fishing has some more mature trees, so could be perfect for that :)

@@tomwilshaw Thanks! I've had it for a while now. Made the logo myself. My brother was a graphic artist at a sign company, so maybe it's in my blood a little, ha, ha. Yeah, those carp are bigtime fighters though. That was the best hookup I've ever experienced in my fishing adventures and can be seen on my trailer (maybe as a standout hookup). However, we are in walleye country here and they eat a lot better than carp, which I've never tried. We also have a lot of small mouth bass and northern pike. Next month, I have a planned trip to attempt to catch the only zander in North America at a lake a few hundred miles from me. Looking forward to it. Do you have much for zander around you there in the UK? Again, splendid work all the way around. You might have to make a "how-the-heck-do-think-about-all-those-shots" films for guys like me to wrap my head around all the storytelling elements involved in your productions. I can only imagine a lot of pre-production, storyboards, mood boards, and scripted efforts along with the extreme categorization of old and previous footage on massive raid systems. Ha!
Oh the terabytes of footage I have lying on my desk is insanity! A raid system is the dream, get it all organised one day 😅😅 I’m desperate to get out the states one day to catch some more predator species, one of my favourite channels is Marlin Baits - love watching him catch walleye and smallies, looks like so much fun! We have a few flowing waters in the country that hold Zander, but it’s nothing like Europe - I’ve seen some real monsters come out of Holland for example! Haha, I’ll have to do something like that one day, a bit of a behind the scenes :-)

Appreciate your attitude towards it mate 😁 and totally, the fish aren’t dumb, further away you can get from the angling pressure, quite often the better!
Definitely! A good way of doing this is using 'gripper' style leads, and pushing moistened pellets onto it to form a sort of paste - works great for all species, but especially carp!
Not in any particular way really! I ran a line from two trees, threw the tarp over it to create an 'A', and then lashed down the front corners with guy ropes, and fixed the back down directly. I'm getting a bigger tarp for future sessions as that size wasn't the most comfortable haha, got a bit wet!
Nice, pretty straightforward really. I was thinking about tarp myself but found a £15 tent in Aldi. My walks aren't as long as yours to that spot so a little extra weight isn't an issue.

@tomwiltshaw thermarest ridgerest under your air mattress for the punctures. Doubles as a seat
That's an edge right there! I'll have to look into one :) makes me wonder though, if somebody shouldn't just combine the two 🤨
@@tomwilshaw you want the ridgerest rugged though. Nothing puncture-able. Then its your chair, kneeling pad, windbreak, sunshield … unhooking mat? 😂
Don’t worry Tom….I lost every single fish I hooked on that lake 😢
Get a hammock from DDhammocks they are really good and very lightweight and often come with a small camp tarp for rain
I'll do exactly that :)
Where is this res, looks a dream to fish
How are you so underrated. Your one of the most talented RUclipsrs ever.
Way too kind!!! Glad you enjoyed 😁
Agree with you!!
Hi Tom looks really really nice where is it and the name please
How did you lash that tarp to your rope? My old bivvy leaks spectacularly.
What fishing backpack is that
Korda's Compac 45 :)
Need to see you go to try to catch this fish again in 2025
Aah... the Gordian knot of divining the divine answer.
Some nice fish and one stunner.. you know the one I'm referring to...
ha!! 😂 and absolutely... still made up with that one!
Great vid - what’s with the 2 different voices?
Wasn’t aware there was two different voices 👀 how do you mean?
