    If you are watching this as a non-vegan, I hope I will help explain why adopting a vegan lifestyle is necessary. For the wellbeing of the animals tortured and killed for their flesh and secretions. For the protection of the planet and all life that depends on it. For your health. If you are a vegan that doesn’t speak for the animals, I hope I can inspire you to open conversations with non-vegans. As vegans we have woken up to the systemic oppression of farmed animals, after abstaining from contributing to their suffering we must help others align their morals with their actions.

    People need to dig deeper. The amount of vegetarians and vegans I know who fight for animal rights, but then fly fro and back every eight weeks for short holidays, shop clothing in Primark, have their goji berries and cheap Chinese/African soya, etc. is astonishing. They think animal welfare includes farming only. The worst are those who keep rabbits and guinea pigs in small cages or have exotic animals but are against carnivores.

      Hey :) You're correct reducing harm is not just a food issue, it is to do with everything in the way we live, the clothes we wear, the way we travel, the relationship we have with other animals like companion animals (or pets) as you say, etc. To me veganism encompasses all of those things. But the consumption of flesh, dairy and eggs is a major part of the exploitation people are a part of as (most) people eat 3 times a day. If we can make what's on our plate more ethical that is a major step in addressing our relationship with the suffering of others. Again, that is a step not the entire journey. Educating ourselves on how to be more ethical in the way we live never stops as there will always be injustice in this world.

    Mate, if you really want to prevent animal exploitation hows about telling people how cocoa beans are produced?
    With exploitation of farmers, human trafficking, and child slavery?
    I figure the torture of enslaved children for luxury items such as chocolate and even vanilla is more upsetting than my decision to eat a kangaroo.

      I don't deny the exploitation of people in many plant-based foods and I agree this needs to be addressed also. But with this channel I am focussing on the exploitation in animal agriculture as it not only enslaves, tortures and murders animals but of course exploits humans also in the industry, for example the workers at slaughterhouses are often people who have no other choice and get PTSD and other mental illnesses. The first major step people to reduce suffering is to go vegan and eat plant-based food, a great next step is to reduce/ remove foods such as cocoa beans as you mention which contain other forms of human exploitation.
      Thanks for the comment 🙂

      @@Amber.For.Animals so let's say your dream comes true....all humans go vegan. how many wildlife habitats will we have to be destroyed to make room for all the crops needed to sustain a vegan diet for the human race? How many species of animals will go extinct? I bet when you have your avocado toast you also take into consideration all the deforestation and animal habitats that were destroyed so you can have your morning sandwich. I also bet that when you have your vegan mayo with some delicious palm oil, all that is in your mind is the same deforestation and wildlife habitats being destroyed.

      @@dansebastiansuhanea5189 Have a look at this research: ourworldindata.org/land-use-diets If the world went vegan 75% of farmland would be free'd for more sustainable use, which would reduce our impact on biodiversity and allow animals to repopulate. Like I said above, going vegan is the first major step in addressing our impact on the animals and the environment. I absolutely agree after going 100% plant-based we should be eating less avocados and instead more sustainable plant-based foods.

      @@Amber.For.Animals yeah. That study does not mention anything about the environmental problems created by newly added large number of monocultures which if you were to switch the entire population of earth to a plant-based diet it's inevitable to happen. This again would lead to deforestation in order to clear land for agriculture. Oh and by the way that study does not mention anything about the water usage. How are you going to feed people in areas off the globe where water is a problem? And how will you manage the vast water consumtion in rest of the areas? Further more, what about increased use of pesticide and fertilizer? Or do you realistically believe all cultures will be Bio and sustain 8+ billion people? Oh and let's just not mind about the biodiversity affected by newly created monocultures..

    • @Amber.For.Animals
      @Amber.For.Animals  5 месяцев назад +10

      @@dansebastiansuhanea5189 But the the vast majority of animals are given feed from monocultures and eating those animals is extremely inefficient for the calories we get from it. For example it takes 17kg of soy to produce 1kg of beef. I think we should not be growing food with monocultures, but at the moment that is what happens and by consuming plant-based less land will need to be used than by consuming meat.
      True that study doesnt talk about water, for water use there are plenty of others, for example this study: www.nature.com/articles/s43016-023-00795-w shows vegans had a water use of 46% of those of meat eaters, with high meat-eaters consuming 2.2 times as much water as vegans. Plant-based diets also contribute less to pollution which impacts water quality which is a big issue also.

    As a non vegan, I believe that meat is good for me. I don't believe that we consume it in any responcible, ethical or logical way. We often discard the best parts of the animal for us. In nature, a predator will eat organs first because those are the more nutrisious parts of the animal. I believe that eating other animals contributed greatly to our human evolution but we've totally lost the plot. I think people are meant to eat meat but modern meat consumption contributes to nothing good. Animals suffer because the industries that harvest them are cruel and evil. People suffer because we are fed meat that messes with our hormones and makes us sick, or is highly processed and causes illnesses directly. We don't know what goes into out food anymore, vegan or otherwise.
    I won't be becoming a vegan but I hope that someday I can remove myself from relying on the food industry at all someday. Animals shouldn't suffer so I can eat meat. I want to learn to raise, hunt, gather and grow my food, myself. Peace to you, Amber I respect your message. ❤

    • @Amber.For.Animals
      @Amber.For.Animals  5 месяцев назад +4

      Hi :) I also said that I'd never be vegan, that was before I watched dominion and learned of all the common horrific things that happen to animals in animal agriculture. If you buy meat, no matter if it is grass fed or organic, it will end up in a slaughterhouse and experience a horrific death. Hunting is not a viable way to feed the population we now have on Earth, but if you choose to do this you are unnecessarily taking the life of an animal which doesn't want to die. Of course you cannot guarantee that the shot will kill it, it may die with immense suffering and leave its young with no mother to care for it and feed it, killing them also.
      The alternative is a plant-based diet, this has been proven by many studies (look at the British or American Dietetic Association) to be a healthy option of all ages and health conditions, lowering cholesterol, reducing heart disease and cancers. I agree animals should not suffer so that someone can eat meat. To live we must accept we will cause some amount of suffering by consuming food and resources, but veganism and a plant-based diet reduces the suffering massively. Choose compassion, go vegan.

    And there's no moral distinction. All the animals you mentioned are edible and pet worthy.

    • @Amber.For.Animals
      @Amber.For.Animals  5 месяцев назад

      I have thought about that. The animals which have been selectively bred to be most efficiently exploited by growing extremely quickly and producing massive amounts of milk and eggs would stop being forcefully bred into existence, therefore the numbers of these animals would slowly dwindle. Because of the more efficient use of land and resources of a plant-based diet (and if we made use of innovations such as vertical farming) less animals would become extinct due to our farming practices. More land could be freed for diverse animals and plants, instead of a mass of a few species like we have today.
      I agree that there is no moral distinction, therefore all animals are worthy of the same respect and stewardship from humans. It doesn't have to be that they get the same level of exploitation.

    To me activist vegans are in a cult. Because when taken to its logical conclusion you paths you walk, the roads you drive on, the land on which you sleep was once a place for animals (of course including insects). If you really want to cause no harm to animals great and small you would need to stop existing. It’s a scary thought.
    Extreme anything is horrid. Not to mention billions of people who can’t afford to eat a solely plant based diet. I just can’t take these activists seriously. Vegans who just go about being vegan are totally fine, my older brother is one. He can have a plate of greens opposite me with red meat without issue.
    There are far greater issues in the world than people avoiding meat, especially when they can’t afford the plant based lifestyle. Living in the West and trying to convince people your diet is better.. and morally superior is peak entitlement and a little narcissistic. But at least you’re polite about it.. so far. Don’t go too deep brother, live and let live

    • @Amber.For.Animals
      @Amber.For.Animals  5 месяцев назад

      How would you define a cult? The oxford dictionary defines it as "a system of religious veneration and devotion directed towards a particular figure or object". Veganism has no one figure, but it has the singular aim of reducing harm. If it is a cult its a harm reduction cult which sounds like the most wholesome cult ever 😅 How dare we be extreme in our views of protecting innocent animals and sharing what happens in animal agriculture to help others reduce their harm. If veganism is a cult then so is meat eating, and that is a cult about death and maximising your damage to the planet.
      Vegans are not ignorant in believing we can no cause no harm to animals, vegans attempt to minimise the harm we do. To exist we must consume resources, veganism and eating plant-based is to minimise the resources we consume. Living in the West and eating flesh, dairy and eggs is peak entitlement. It is maximising the resources you consume, driving the climate crisis and food insecurity. Eating animals is an enormous waste of resources done so you can enjoy the taste of an animal's flesh, that sounds like entitlement and narcissism to me.

    • @michaelharvest931
      @michaelharvest931 5 месяцев назад

      You had it in the definition. “Figure or object” Your cult-like objective is to create a world free of animal consumption and free of animal products. So yeah it’s a cult. Especially if you achieved your aim humans would starve to death, not to mention the medical uses of animal products. Say for instance the use of insulin, in some countries. Certain influenza vaccines use animal products. I guess these people should just die though? Again cult like.
      Radical vegans such as yourself are hypocrites. You must have seen in the last few years that individual plants can communicate with each other. So much research has been done on this topic. Which is to say they have a level of consciousness. They have sentience. If they have feelings, is it ok to kill them? To our limited knowledge thus far they don’t feel pain. So far we haven’t discovered if they have pain receptors as we understand it. So far.
      But just because they can’t feel pain it’s ok to kill a sentient being with a living experience? What will you eat if we discover plants do indeed feel pain? I believe they do. To my mind killing a living being (a plant )to sustain yourself is no better than killing a pig. It’s still alive with a conscious experience of the world. Because it doesn’t have a cute face and interacts with you in the way you generally perceive interaction to take place means it’s ok to kill it? Just because it can’t scream at you lessens its life? Preposterous.
      You believe so strongly that waste other people’s time on the street to convince them into your cult. No different to any religious zealots I encounter on a Sunday at the market. By the way, that girl is just being incredibly polite. Can’t you read her body language or the very unenthusiastic way she responds? To be honest I would entertain your rambling too, I’m too polite to pass by. She sounds like my niece and nephew when I’m lecturing to them about cleaning their rooms or to listen to their mother.
