    13:53 Final Drive oil change
    I had to do a 1st oil change on our 2019 Yamaha Zuma. This procedure should be similar for most of the 4 stroke models going back the last 10 years or so but check your manuals. I also changed the final drive oil which is frequently ignored. The location of the fill and drain may be different throughout the model years but the procedure should be the same. Again, check you manual.

    I live in Florida and bought my Zuma 50 in 2013, i have almost 20k miles on her and am about to perform the first oil change. Neglect i know lol but she is a BEAST! In almost 10yrs and 20k miles all ive had to replace are tires and a battery. Going to take it in soon to get brakes and a thorough tune up.

    My 2019 just rolled 9000kms today. My 2012 has 12000 kms. Both run perfect. Oil change every 2000kms,only 8 bucks to change,why not. Air filter every year. You should have enough oil in 1 quart/litre to change oil and rear drive. Works for me.

    Adding compressed air? Do you not risk spraying condensation into the case?

    I have a 2012 50cc zuma, very modified. What kind of gear oil do these take? I was reading 80W-90, that seems a little too thick for such a small transmission.

      10-30 these are strong bikes and will even run with a slightly off spec oil, but do try to get the spec one though.

    Hello- I got the exact same scooter but I have a 2012. That being said today out of no where when try to accelerate it boggs down and stalls. Any idea why that would be? 2 weeks before it drove fast & never had this problem before. Do you think it could be the spark plug? I’ve only done oil changes but no tuneup. It has low miles as well. 1250miles. Also it’s kept in my garage 24/7. It did sit for 3 years but like I said I drove it 3 weeks ago and drove like normal. Appreciate any ideas you think I could do as a DIY. Trying to avoid a service bill. Thanks! Chris

      I would check the fuel pump I had a no start problum because that pump glitches out, unplugged and plugged it in and it worked, and check the electrics, with these bikes being EFI they have more circuits to run it, so I'd say check for nay loose plus and or fuse and relays

      @@liamsmith4566 Thanks for the reply. I sucked it up and got it serviced. Turns out it was clogged injectors. So I they fixed it for 50 bucks which wasn’t bad. While in the shop I had them do a full tuneup since it had been a few years. Runs like brand new again. Thanks again for the reply.

    Thank you for your video, I have a Yamaha Zuma 2005 but I did not see a way to drain the old oil from the Yamaha Zuma 2005.

    • @PIFDIY

      Pretty sure that you have a 2 stroke engine with no crankcase, so no oil changes necessary. You can still change the oil in the final drive I believe. Might want to poke around on the web for that info.

      @@PIFDIY thank you 🙏 A mechanic 🧑‍🔧 told me that the 2 strokes don't have a way to drain the oil. The only oil to be changed is the transmission oil in the back.

    Should've laid the scooter down when doing the finnal drive, way cleaner and can fill it with a regular funnel

    • @PIFDIY
      @PIFDIY  3 года назад

      Nope, no engine oil in your 2 stroke. You just have to change the drive oil every 4k miles.

    Missing your oring on your filter housing you should have removed it with the housing and lubed it before you reinstalled the housing

    I accidentally put my oil strainer back in upside down. Does that matter?

    • @PIFDIY
      @PIFDIY  2 года назад

      The rubber side of the strainer makes a complete seal with the engine case so I would just do another quick drain and install it properly. That said, these engines are so bullet proof, I wouldn't be surprised if there were no consequence to having the strainer reversed...

    Is that 10 30 gear oil?

  • @IndianaGraphics

    My owners manual says screw the dipstick in to check the oil. I have the exact same scooter. *I made a mistake, this comment was wrong)

    • @PIFDIY
      @PIFDIY  3 года назад +1

      In the manual check out page 6-10 under "To check the engine oil level". #3 says "insert it back into the oil filler hole (without screwing it in) and then remove it again to check the oil level.
      Might have more than one manual floating around?
