    Mr. Olson:
    This is my second post to your channel. I did subscribe to the channel. It's May 2, 2022. I ordered new the Yamaha Zuma 50FX 50cc.
    I live in Clearwater Beach Florida Pinellas County. My purchase was In Tampa Florida. About 40 minutes away depending on traffic.
    It was your channel that made my decision. Mr. Hahn

    Corey, I bought my Zuma 50f new back in 2012. I love it. For the low price and high fun factor, you can’t beat a Zuma 50f. This year I bought and put on highway bars and pegs from a guy on Ebay. It made a world of difference for riding comfort. You might want to look into them.

    Excellent machine high quality 👍I have a 2015 zuma fx, blue and white bought it brand new always changed the oil on time for the most part. 5000 miles a year I put on it and I live in very hilly terrain, it's entire life was wide open throttle and I had skimped on changing the oil for about 3 months and she finally snapped a rod at 23,645.9 miles that's just shy of the circumference of the earth on a tiny little piston lol. It also was running higher rpms because of the lighter weights in the variator to climb hills better where i live. All in all until the rod she never gave me any problems or left me stranded. Got lucky and the rod snapped off the crank journal and didn't go through the case,now it has been rebuilt and big bored, maybe I will get as much or more miles with the bbk since I don't have to hold it wot the whole time to maintain speed. Getting a ruckus next time ONLY because they have more aftermarket parts to choose from.

    Zuma is better than any Chinese scooter. Kymco, a Taiwanese company is right up there in quality too, even though, I believe Kymco has some mainland plants. A Chinese scooter can be OK if you are handy, or have a good dealer. I sold Chinese scooters and had a shop that did repair. We had a 100% 90-day, or 180-day, can't remember, 3000 mile parts and labor warranty. You can see that we had confidence in our PDI.
    If the Zuma has only a screen for oil filtration, change the oil frequently. Definately no more than 1000 mile interval. I once serviced a generic Chinese 50cc that had never had and oil change. I had over 6000 mile on the odometer. The oil was thick and black, but it was running fine.

    I got exactly same scooter that I bought last year for 2400$ Canadian from the dealer with 10 miles on the odometer. I did install original Yamaha hand guards and windshield. I do recommend the windshield as it dramatically reduces the wind in you face. Great scooter and good quality. Make sure to do valve adjustment at 600 mile mark.

    You’d be surprised how many miles one will last with proper care. I had a ruckus recently that had not been cared for nearly as well as I cared for it while I owned it and it had over 30k miles on it and still ran like a top. I honestly believe it had another 30k miles left in it easy

    • @CoreyOlsonLevi
      @CoreyOlsonLevi  4 года назад +2

      Nice, I’m hoping to break 30k on this one; my father-in-law knows a lot about small engine repair so I think it’s doable. I am already at 1k miles in ~3 months but I personally think there’s a lot of value in scooters if you can survive on one car for the family, and one scooter. Already saved a ton of money versus buying a second car, etc. The scooter is actually one of my favorite / best return / value buys in a long time. I get a lot out of it.

      The most I’ve done is around 40, but I’m a little heavier right now. If I lost weight it might be different. You can definitely tell around ~40 the governor ring kicks in, I think you can remove it to get a higher top speed, but it’ll reduce your lower speed acceleration. Around ~40mph you’ll be able to feel it kick-in, I believe it’s just a metal ring you take out, but I haven’t done that on mine.

    • @CoreyOlsonLevi
      @CoreyOlsonLevi  3 года назад

      I got this in May 2020, so only experienced a few days where it was around 50 degrees Fahrenheit. With an actual motorcycle jacket it seems like 40 to 50 is doable. There is a guy over in Indiana on RUclips, with a similar 50cc Zuma, who drives it year round, even in light snow. I intend to drive it year round, but we will see. I used to hike a lot (in winter too,) and when the temp went below freezing it was more difficult. But, with enough layers it was fine. Honestly, I don't know yet how things will go in the winter. In Chicago, we do have a fair amount of winter days above freezing, and only one or two months where it gets really cold. It's likely a matter of dressing appropriately, we'll see.

      Sorry to hear about the scooter getting stolen man. That's one of my concerns when parking it somewhere I don't often visit. Like going hiking, etc. I do have some insurance which I believe covers theft on mine since it is new, but may drop that as it goes up in mileage. On the Zuma, you have helmet hooks for the helmet, and one of my other worries is leaving my helmet on there, but now it has a GoPro mounted on it. So when I park my Zuma and leave my helmet, I actually have to unscrew the GoPro / take the whole helmet.
      Anyways, thanks for watching dude. Happy riding.
