    Great review. I own a 2009 50 (2 stroke) and a 2010 125 that I bought new. I love them both. Idk which one to keep if I had to sell one. They both have their plus and minuses. You forgot to mention the 125 has an extra side stand which makes life easier. My 50 has a kick start in addition to the electric which I like. It also has a large floorboard area, great for carrying large items. The 50 has a nice soft suspension; the 125 is firm. I find the tail lights are real dim on the 125. I had to upgrade it to LED ones. The 125 handles way better than the 50 around corners. Seems to have a lower centre of gravity. Also on mine, both scooter's turn signals have good audible clicks.

    • @OnyxHaze
      @OnyxHaze  8 лет назад

      your right, the 125 does have the kick stand along with the center stand which is nice for quick stops,
      and i agree, a year later and i've noticed it does have a firm suspension and the 50cc is more forgiving on the bumbs
      hmmm maybe it was just my 50f where the clicks turned out to be quiet but i feel the 50f handled a little better, with the floor board gas tank versus the under seat gas tank, i feel the 50f has the lower center of gravity but the power of the 125 allows you to power out and around turns and cars easier
      thank for watching

      Rick Rudge thanks, i appreciate the support, im toying with the idea of throwing a BBK on the 125, but it opens up pandora's box of never ending expensive mods.. i think the verticle headlight kit or a new final gear is up next

      3 years later and you’ve done a lot of mods like you wanted. I’ve sold my beloved Zuma with the 70cc BBK and bought a Zuma 125. I’m loving the better speed. I really wish that the seat hight was a little lower but I prefer using the center stand. No mods for the 125 other than some cosmetic stuff as yet. Gassing up the scooter had some fuel-spilling issues, but I’ve started turning the key to keep an eye on the fuel gauge as I refuel so it’s easy to know when to stop. 🛵💨

    @ 5:29, i'm sooo glad they removed the filler cap from in front of the seat. To me, it reminded me of a boil on someone's face. In my opinion, it didn't look right there.

      the z125 i don't think will be available in the U.S. but that would be a great little alternative to the yamaha r125 or even the honda msx (Grom)

    • @OnyxHaze
      @OnyxHaze  9 лет назад +2

      steven rodriguez the orange zuma is a 2014, but i believe from 2009 to 2015 they are all identical besides the paint job...
      In the state of California you do require a motorcycle license at least an M2. i think for any motorized scooter more than 1hp and can do 35+mph. I would double check with the DMV for requirements in your state.
      In the state of California this is not highway legal, i believe it has to be 149+cc for it to be technically highway legal...
      she will cruise 55mph easily, top out 65mph on a good stretch of road, so i guess you could go on the highway but we both know if the limit is 65mph people are doing 75mph, so you'll be maxed and kind of a hindrance on the road, but if you really really had to i guess you could. i go cruising the back roads all the time (55mph+). the long straights i feel like im slowing traffic down but in the twisties she is so nimble that its not a problem..
      i hope this and some of my other videos helps out...

    • @OnyxHaze

      i would not recommend it, it's hard enough to be seen on a scooter. a day time running light is a great safety feature. that said
      im sure there is, its just how the lights are wired. maybe splicing it together with the high beam so they are both off. then you flip the high beam switch and they are both on. just an idea

    I liked the Zuma 125. Do you know any major difference between the kymco super 8 150(if you have any info) and the Zuma 125? I’m torn between the two. I know they are different brands as well, but I’m not sure. And what is the difference in the 2019 Zuma 125 than the 2020 Zuma 125? Have you ride it long distance yet?

    • @OnyxHaze
      @OnyxHaze  4 года назад +1

      Unfortunately, i don't know much about the kymco super 8.
      Best thing i could recommend is to test ride both of them if they let you. Just take it easy, if you break it, you buy it.
      Also call around and make sure that mechanics work on the kymco, maybe try and find out how easy it is to get parts for it online or at the dealerships. I know that any yamaha dealership will work on the zuma and parts are easy enough to get.
      From what i can tell on the website. the 2019 and 2020 zuma 125 are the same, maybe different color options. If you can get a discount on a 2019, go ahead. even better maybe a 2018, 2017 or even 2016 because they are all the same thing. only thing different is color options.
      Finally, i have done like 3-4 hour day rides. 160 miles round trip. Always on back roads with speed limits 55mph or less. The scooter is not freeway legal. It will slow down on steep hills and 55 mph is the max and people will tailgate you. Stock engine will get you 60-65 miles per gallon and it only has a 1.7 gallon tank. So on big trips i plan ahead and make sure i know where my gas station are because i only have a 1 gallon tank (2014 model).
      The extra 150cc kymco might help on hills and long straight roads or you can upgrade the zuma with a big bore kit but that will cost extra money and require major service to install (video below). Scooters are perfect for "City Riding" if you plan on doing long road trips maybe consider a small motorcycle (300cc or bigger) but there is a Movie (Slow Ride Home) where a group of guys go cross country on a yamaha zuma 125.
      I prefer brands like yamaha and honda, i would even go as far recommending the honda (grom) msx. Its a great bike with lots of customization available. and honeslty a stock grom will out perform a stock zuma in top speed and miles per gallon and you learn to switch gears. i bought the zuma before the grom came out and im gonna keep it because i love it , its different, and im invested in it . also the grom is popular right now and you will pay a premium.
      Hope this helps

      Onyx Haze yes this helps a lot. Thank you so much. I don’t want the grom because it’s like a mini motorcycle without any storage and i like the little storage the Zuma offers.
