we lost @ least 30% volume within a year

@@itsYourfuture-f6x yeah, that hurts. I’ve been studying the numbers for awhile now. An 8% decrease is significant, put that into prospective. 30% is mind blowing.

You are speaking my language right now brother. I am a FedEx Freight driver. Been there 3 years, it's progressively slowed down for the past 2 years. I have survived 5 employees, above my seniority, leaving. That's out of 22 Truck drivers in our smaller facility. I drive once or twice a week right now, and work part time dock. My wife has a good job with the state so we can sustain, but just barely with a little extra. It's hard to be motivated when I don't know day to day if I am getting my 8. They Like to keep us class A's because hiring and training new drivers is exponentially expensive. I love my job, I like the people I work with. I do not want to leave and start all over again. I am willing to ride it out for awhile, but there comes a point to where I have to consider other things. The freight industry ebbs and flows with the passage of time. Economical factors play into it as well. I just don't know what I can do with my sporadic off times to make extra. I thought maybe Door Dash or something but it is not a huge thing where I live. Online I think is where I need to be looking. Any suggestions would be awesome. Thank you for the video. It's not just me and I don't feel so alone in this.

Man oh man!! This one hit me, but where do I start? Ok, first of all, I want to commend your courage to hang in there. You are not alone.
I understand your situation brother, and I'll assist as much as I can. I'm intrigued because you openly admit that you love your job, not many people are willing to publicly admit that. I'm the say way. That makes it easier for you to figure stuff out because you seem to have passion.
Don't allow the fact that your schedule is unpredictable and sporadic keep you from getting resolutions that will put you in a better situation.
Without having to get additional education or a skill, you can absolutely get a side hustle that can earn you extra money. Pretty much anything that people need done. You provide the service (value) that they're willing to pay for so they don't have to do it.
Like I mentioned in the video, any type of yard work, mowing, cleaning gutters, pressure washing, window cleaning, tree trimming, etc. Dog walking if you can stand dogs. We have a toddler playground rental business. Also bounce houses/moonwalk rentals are pretty popular around the country as well. I'm making a video real soon on top side hustles.
Now, you mentioned the internet. There's so much to do on the internet. E-Commerce is huge and there's so much opportunity. I can make a video about E-Commerce ideas.
Side hustles can be hard, but the reward is greater. I hope this all helps, keep in touch! You can always e-mail me at brickedouteveryday@gmail.com

@@BrickedOutMediaI appreciate this. I will look into side hustles. Gutter cleaning is a thing, I live in Oregon so leaves are plentiful. I have a few extension ladders too. It's spring now so not so many leaves. I have a lawn mower though. I Appreciate you brother. Thanks for the words of encouragement.

FedEx Freight is a good job but let’s be real you were hired for COVID freight that is no longer present. Same thing happened at my terminal where my road driver only drove 3-4 times a month …… but he came from apprentice so he has stay 1 year. City drivers barely getting 40 hours they completely over hired during COVID

@@HeyArnoldGotAFootballHead 100%! I was a covid hire like you said. No 2 years experience and the driver apprentice program. I had the leg up from just getting out of driving school for class A. But now We have another guy out, and one more in the next year. That will be seven above my seniority to date. I am being real about it, I figured I would be laid off already, but they like me at my facility. Where abouts do you work at FedEx if you don't mind my asking?

    Amazon

    • @BrickedOutMedia
      @BrickedOutMedia  8 месяцев назад

It's more than just Amazon. It's industry wide, and Amazon stopped using Fedex years ago. I'm on the ground everyday and there's still a hefty amount of Amazon running through the UPS system. I see it through different sorts. Also, we still see Amazon packages on our package cars daily.
Food for thought. The margins that UPS generates on Amazon packages isn't that great being that they're mostly small and light residential deliveries. UPS really run up the margins on commercial to commercial deliveries mostly because they weigh more and it would typical yield multi-piece stops.
No worries, I'll make a video about that.

@@itsYourfuture-f6x Automation doesn’t mean you get rid of the all of the people. Major misconception. Our facility is considered an “automated facility”, but we still have 250+ on the preload sort.

The Ups Ceo Carol tome Is ruining the company. "Smaller but better" is her goal with the automated building ups has invested in. She is ruining peoples lives through mass layoffs.

Do you really want to have this conversation? This decision to innovate isn't hers alone. Do you know how many people collectively is coming up with innovation decisions. These people you don't know of, but because they're not as visible as Tome, they don't get the smoke from people like you. Check out the UPS org chart and check back in. As far as ruining people's lives, I have a different view. Never rely on an employer to shape your life, respectfully.
