  • Hi folks, in this weeks video I show my three most used and beginner friendly patterning techniques. These are among the first techniques I learned when I started my drafting journey.     I would love to see all your bodice blocks in one video, with a brief explanation of how you made each one and why you made a separate block. I’m working on my first block now and would benefit from your perspective. Forgive me if there is a video like this already. I’m working my way through your library.

    I have sewn since childhood, but I needed this mini lesson. Although I already knew how to move a dart, seeing your quick and clear instructions motivated me to draft something using one of these techniques. Thanks for the inspiration!

    A huge thank you for this wonderful video. It is so informative. Are you able to show how to transfer a waist dart and a bust dart into a French dart. Also have you ever used a French dart? I sewed a few dresses with a French dart and they are flattering but I still cannot get the fit to be perfect as I m using a commercial pattern. I would like to be able to make my own block with a French dart.

    I love all your garments you make but never new how is it that it all fits so well. Or how you make all the different dresses. This really will help me to start to create something. It just takes time, so will have to set some time aside to try these different method. Still don’t know how you changed the square neck method ...🤷🏼‍♀️.

    Is there a video about making the basic pattern you base your clothing on? So far, all the "making of" videos show you adapting a basic pattern, but how do you make that basic pattern?

    Love your videos! Do you have a recommended link for adjustments after a basic block is created? For instance, fwd shoulder, narrow shoulder, sway back?

    Thank you so much, really interesting. However has I have never thought about moving darts like in your first example and I apologise before hand if I sound stupid - which is because I probably am. But why would I do this?

      Me too! I am fat (currently slimming) and my belly sticks out. I want to use that exact technique to make a few T shirts I can wear in the garden. Thank you so much for making this all so learnable!

    Should I adjust the gape in the armhole in advance before applying the pattern on fabric in the sleeveless designs .. I mean, is this gape is exsisted anyways in the bodice pattern and is needed to be adjust before applying sleeveless patterns on fabric

    That’s fixing a bodice pattern gap but how do I fix a ready made dress with a gap like that. It already has a side dart?
