Thank you for doing the patterning for this top. Your patterning videos are my very favorite. I'm not too interested in the making videos but I LOVE the patterning ones! I would love for you to do more of them.
Another brilliantly clear and concise tutorial from you Susanne, I get so excited when I see a new video from you drop in to my inbox! You always inspire! As always, TFS and have a lovely weekend! 👍😘❤
Thanks Margaret💕👍💕 I’d love to but unfortunately I don’t think I have enough experience to upload the block drafting, I can however 100% recommend the channel I used for most of my blocks, Diane Deziel here on RUclips, she’s a professional and a fabulous, fabulous teacher 👌👌👌
hello Susan, im just thinking where do you your pattern front top piece, without any darts? my basic pattern has two darts, bust dart and wait dart. Thank you !
Hello......I spent today measuring, drafting, adjusting, cutting, sewing 2 blocks (the same one, bodice). Much to my dismay, they are not right. The first one was way to small. So, I measured again, drafted, cut muslin, sewed the second one. Ugh! Still not the right fit. Any suggestions to get through this so that I will have a good working block? I’m exhausted! But, I refuse to quit. I want to sew the beautiful clothes that you have been showing us on these videos. I absolutely love, love, love them! BTW....I’ve been using Diane Denzel’s videos to create the bodice blocks. They aren’t easy, but she is very good at instructing. I just can’t figure out how to get the bodice to fit correctly. THANK YOU SO VERY, VERY MUCH!!!!!!
Hi Stephanie, I so feel your pain 😩😩😩 the only thing I can suggest if you've checked your measurements and you're 100% sure they're spot on is to break down the fit. Once you've made your toile look at each bit in isolation, the shoulder, the bust, the waist, length of the side seam etc and make tiny adjustments at a time until it feels right on your body, transfer whatever adjustments you've made to your block. The fit of my basic bodice block is comfortable, not too tight or too loose. Stick at it Stephanie, this is one of the hardest bits, getting your first block completed 🙂
Hello again......I’ve made great progress today! With toile #3 the fit is beginning to come together. I like the neck, armscye and back. However, the bust area has too much fabric. Will consult Palmer/Pletsch Complete Guide to Fitting and also Veblen’s Perfect Fitting. I am going to keep at it (a storm is bearing down on us and I will enjoy being in my sewing room tomorrow). Thank you for the encouragement !
Hi Suzanne thank you for your brilliant videos and knowledge, I'm a novice but really liked your positiveness so I went to dianes website and made a bodice block as you suggest, I then attempted the cami top - it's beautiful, but too big at the arm and tight on my hips, so I've watched again and repeated but I've widened my slash and spread lines and am going to try again. What I wanted to please ask is, how did you learn maths for your adjustments and could you please direct me where I could read/watch how you decide on the 7" down the front, the 4" from the shoulder, and the 5mm overlap at your spreading lines? Many thanks, Angela
you break things down so well and make a complex project look straight forward. excellent - thank you so much!
