Great video. Love seeing your thought process. And…I want to see you working in more clothes you’ve made. Hmmm…maybe new pattern line from Pattern Scout just for the “work from home” crowd? The top was perfect and styled so well with all your previous makes. Always learn something from Pattern Scout. Granted, I won’t ever be so fearless when turning my bobbin screw as you did. Clutch my pearls! 😂

This tutorial was brilliant, Casey! I really appreciated seeing the pattern modification process as though on a computer screen, it really made sense to me that way! And watchjng your design evolve was fascinating 😊
Although the days of strappy bra tops are long behind me (I'm too "mature" to show that much skin!), I am intrigued by the way you added the cute little cap sleeves to the piece. I am tempted to give that a try when next I make a sleeveless top 🤔 although I realise it would need to be a very drapey fabric to have the desired effect. Tons of food for thought, thank you so much! 🙏

Thanks, Mara! I had actually filmed that as a tutorial as I was making the changes and it was kind of a mess, so I decided to make the diagrams instead...so glad it was helpful! Adding little flounces and ruffles is my go-to for a little extra coverage!

I'm not going to lie: The pattern drafting was a bit beyond my technical skills, but I appreciate your tutorial. Also, I was skeptical after the first muslin, but this turned out so lovely! Looks great on you. Thanks for another great video, Casey!

Also.... glad you gave a shout out to those green pants. I was thinking, "Wow, those are nice pants - I would like something just like those," and then you said they were the Nellie Joggers! And I bought that pattern a while back - yay! I want mine to look just like yours, lol 😅

Great video, Casey. While I’m not planning on drafting my own pattern, I thoroughly enjoyed your process. You take us from seeing the cute inspiration at Target, through all the drafting, muslins, reworking, rethinking, more muslins, and the final piece that, while inspired by a top at Target, looks nothing like it in the end! It is truly your own creation. Well done! My take away is that I can make more than fit alterations to my patterns. Design changes are not really much different. ❤

I don’t have Illustrator, but I do have a bodice block that I made the analog way, and despite having SO many patterns, I want to *maybe* start playing with some drafting myself. Love that you’re wearing some of the beautiful things you’ve made!

This was such a great video Casey. I just love learning how you pattern draft and watching your brain work. I have no where near the skills you have with drafting, but I'm learning. That top turned out so cute and you always look so good in close fitting cropped tops. I wish I had more of a waist. I'm straight up and down like a skinny boy with big boobs. lol...I look forward to your next pattern draft...and oh, I am still loving those wide leg pants..I may pull out my Lutterloh books and see what I can come up with. Hope you have a great week ahead.

Thank you for another inspiring video, watching you sew is very motivating. I need to keep sewing and trying to grow in skill & knowledge. I’ve been using my bodice sloper to design new patterns from. I’ve been sewing for about 7 years and only recently learned how to pattern hack.
I am getting better, thx to videos like yours. Blessings!

I’m really LOVING the wide leg slacks. I have been recently realizing I need to add a few to my wardrobe and then I see you wearing these. I think I will need to make a few linen pairs. They look really nice.
And I am loving the Muslim of this top. You have me motivated to make my own tank tops. To make sure they fit me best and I can get the built in bra support I need.

Being a 32H and paying crazy money for bras, I traveled and took bra drafting and construction classes. Very interesting how you drafted this, as I learned old school paper drafting. Made custom bras and corsets/strapless wedding gowns for women who couldn't buy off the shelf. Cute top on you, but it's a fitted bodice, not a corset. Recommend books by Anne St Claire, Beverly Johnson, and Susan Khaljie. I don't know if any of them give in person instruction any longer.
