LOL. I feel like I'm looking at the brunette version of me. Your style caught my eye and I was hooked when you said you're tall, as well as slim, too (tall girls have special fitting issues like anyone else.) But I'm ahead of you on the Invisalines (and I wore my retainers!). Four years later I still need to wear them at night. I've been sewing for many years and know how to do many of these things already but it's so reassuring to see you sew the things I've been kinda shying away from lately. These days I'm needing more of a sure thing. It's nice to hear your thoughts as you adjust things and it reminds me that when things don't turn out EXACTLY as I first envisioned it's still really great. I also LOVE D.P.C.'s book - game changer! Thanks for giving me back my Sew-jo.

Fabulous! I've been thinking about adding something sheer to my wardrobe. I always sew with woven fabrics, but I think using stretch is very smart in this case. You wear both tops very well! Also, loved your commentary at the end. I turned 60 this year and have relied on (slow) fashion to help me feel my best. Sewing is such a great tool in retirement. It flexes my creative muscle and injects purpose in my days. Nevermind that I'm still trying to master fitting. Plenty of time for that! 😉

And I am right there with you: sewing and fashion have made me feel so good and more like myself. I really know what I like and I'm way less impulsive about my wardrobe purchases now (and way happier with my wardrobe!). I think you can do the lettuce edge on a regular sewing machine (there are videos here on youtube, I searched lettuce edge hem and found one at the top of the search results showing it both ways). And i totally get tunnel vision when sewing too! Sometimes it is hard to stop, something I am also working on :)

I love these tops on you!!! I was secondhand nervous for you about the fabric being difficult for shirtmaking, but they turned out amazing!! It’s giving me all kinds of inspo to rethink what I can do with knits for winter. I gravitate toward them almost exclusively for that warm hand feel in winter but I keep making basic Nikko tops - love the idea of using Comfi + Cozi together for a knit button-up!

I love these tops on you!!! I was secondhand nervous for you about the fabric being difficult for shirtmaking, but they turned out amazing!! It’s giving me all kinds of inspo to rethink what I can do with knits for winter. I gravitate toward them almost exclusively for that warm hand feel in winter but I keep making basic Nikko tops - love the idea of using Comfi + Cozi together for a knit button-up!
Haha thank you!! I agree, the button-up in a knit is a nice shake up for the knit tee category. So comfy but a little more jazzed up! It would work really well for jersey knits, too.
