- So excited to be sharing the FINAL renovation in my family's basement renovation journey - a DIY small basement laundry room makeover! I have been working all year to slowly transform my parents' basement into a useable space for my family, and am finally done! From the wood accent wall, to the drop ceiling installation, and custom sliding doors... I’m so stoked on this!

I'm waiting for the plumber to do my laundry plumbing and the draintile concrete is still curing. I'm itching to finish my basement, especially the laundry area. Gonna buy a new washer and dryer. Watching people like you reminds me that I don't have to be an expert builder to fix up my space. It takes away some of the overwhelm. Thank you for inspiring me.

Aahh, I loved the Annual Fathers Day Home Improvement project idea, what a great way to spend time, make memories, and make something beautiful. I wish I would have done something like that with my Dad while he was still here. So much knowledge and treasured moments missed. I am happy for you and your dad, and your mom she also wins by getting a better space. Great job!

I love the ceiling and I'll definitely steal that idea. We "inherited" a lot of wiring applied to the bottom of basement ceiling joists, so sheetrock is a non-starter there. Plus, as you say, if the wiring (and plumbing) are still accessible by removing some panels that makes the job so much easier. Thanks for sharing. I found you by way of Shara of Woodshop Diaries.
BTW, did you have to do anything about preventing moisture intrusion?

Beautiful work. I haven’t seen that ceiling from Armstrong before. Love it. Might suggest that you switch the hinge side of the cabinet on the right. It would be more convenient if it swung towards the wall.

Nice call on the lighting...beautiful job on the wood but the black paint was unnecessary in my opinion...love your painting skills on the cabinets...bugs didn't bother you much...great job on the ceiling..i like that material ..in my opinion the door on the cabinet should have been reversed to be right hand opening...super great job on the utility doors (nice touch)... overall, very impressive, you gave me an enjoyable experience and great ideas for my future projects. thank you very much for sharing...
Thanks! The black paint is there to blend the gaps from the barnwood boards. If I kept it white you would be able to see white openings in between each board. The rest is all personal taste. 😊

I have a similar basement and would love to have a laundry room just like this! My problem is that all the pipes are on the ceiling and look horrible! The ceiling is already low and I don't think we would be able to cover them with the drop ceiling. Can you give me some ideas of a way to cover them? Tia.

This is a nice effect, and not sure if it video versus real but the back wall seems to suck light out of the room, would a white backdrop defuse light more?
