There are a lot of resources and papers about the subject. And some biochemist here on RUclips explain it well.
The molecules in coconut oil are too large to penetrate low porosity therefore it's simply Coates the hair and blocks out moisture absorption. That's why it makes low porosity hair dry out and gives it a straw-like feel. Coconut water, I'm not so sure about but I stay away from it all together and now that I do, my hair is a lot softer and smoother and I don't have to worry about breakage during the detangling process.
OH MY GOD! yes R U T H, you are correct! I use coconut oil when I’m reverting my hair from straight to curly (before shampooing), I use aloe vera juice, hair mayo, then the coconut oil, leave it on for like 10 minutes (avoid coconut oil on the scalp) or I’ll use it as a penetrating oil like a pree-poo on my dry hair, then shampoo and conditioner as usual. I use the coconut oil as a pree-poo when I’m trying to avoid hygral fatigue.
I am going to have to save up to try Olaplex. I have heard nothing but good things about #3. Also, I want to try Adwoa as well. I generally use protein every other month. Sometimes I go longer. Just depends! BTW, My bonnets have never come off either, and I know I sleep crazy, 😂😂😂 Very interesting! Great video 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
You are blessed because my satin scarf always falls off but I also sleep wild😅 and yes ad you said too much protein to is not too needed for low porosity.
1.You can trying bristle brush next time for flat ironing,i feeling lot smoother than the comb. Why you don’t trying bristle brush for chasing method for flat ironing your hair? 2.I think you still can using heat again add curls when you straightening your hair frist time just make sure lower temperature for straightening curls.if you straightening at 410f,add curls lower heat about 350-375f,this way you will keeping safe using heat again.
First ?!! ❤❤ heyyyy. I love the olaplex #5 it’s my favourite in the range . I haven’t tried adowoa yet l am not sure how expensive it is to get in the uk that’s why
I love the Adwoa white line BUT they are pricey if you have a lot of hair. I really want to purchase again. On my 2 buy list. I THINK I'd be happy if I can simply find dependable products I can use so I can stop being a product junkie. It's not that coconut has protein....its that ot acts like a protein in hair. Love The Doux products. The mouse works good. I want to try the Crazy Sexy Curl mousse from the line. Wash n gos don't last long for me no matter what. 2 bottles a year is not bad for a product.
Love these good recommendations! I know it's been awhile but your bangs have definitely grown out and maybe your curly cut too? Have you cut your hair since then to make it even when straightening again?
It’s true that coconut oil doesn’t contain protein, but it helps the hair to maintain it which is not the best thing for protein overload and here is what I found: While it's not technically a protein you'll also want to avoid coconut oil because it helps to slow down protein loss. This makes your reversal of protein overload harder. Coconut oil only worsens protein overload. If you're not careful, you could see a lot of breakage, split ends, and even hair loss. Instead of coconut oil, anyone with dry, brittle hair should opt for another nourishing oil like argan oil or marula oil. Well in that case I’ll just stay away from it because it can actually easily cause protein overload as it helps keeping the protein in the hair which can accumulate every time I use a protein treatments/masks which most of the time is concentrated, no wonder it made my low porosity hair dry unlike other oils..
Is it possible for hair porosity to change over time? I feel like I need to change up my routine because my hair has been on the low porosity side lately. Going to check out some of these!
yes, it's possible for it to change. Low porosity hair is considered to be very healthy hair. High porosity hair usually gets a bad rep. Having LP hair is a good thing.
Hey girl was just wondering if you can tell us what the purple shampoo and conditioner smell like? Is it like coconuty or fruity smell or is it like a strong masculine scent?
Hey! Do you mean the Adwoa products? they have a strong perfume smell.. its not fruity or masculine lol I honestly dont know how to describe it. Maybe more so Floral UPDATE: I found this on google: Fragrance Description: This treatment serum contains floral notes of natural tuberose, jasmine bud extract, ylang-ylang, orris concrete, benzoin, and musks.
Currently making a switch up on my hair routine, what would you say are the best products for a twist out on blown out hair (4c/b, long dense hair, low porosity)? The options are endless 😭
Agree… I have to stay away from Coconut and depending on the manufacture. I like 100% Shea Moisture Coconut Shampoo but my hair does NOT like the conditioner.
Wow really? Does your bonnet have a drawstring and elastic. I sell bonnets and never had a customer complain about it coming off. I also get repeat orders 🤷🏽♀️ it could be the bonnet you are wearing.
@cmbooks2000 hmm without the drawstring is there an elastic in the bonnet? For example if the drawstring were to come out, would the bonnets still have an elastic inside?
@@ShaniqueBuntyn all are separate hair protectors. Some have elastic. Some have drawstrings. Some are tie only. The tie ones are most effective but only when I put my hair in a pony and tie the wrap around the ponytail. The elastic and drawstring are completely useless
@@ShaniqueBuntyn no, these just have a string and you pull to tighten. The ones with that wrap and tie are not so bad. The elastic ones never stay but they are the most comfortable
People tend to confuse things. Coconut oil is not a protein treatment but behaves like one, in penetrating your hair shaft. That's it.
if it does the same thing why isnt it a protein treatment

Hi are your bonnets and your scarfs breathable would you recommend braids if you want hair growth and something healthy
Yes. It’s all I use. Braid are a great protective style
What braids promotes the most hair growth and is the least tension on your scalp
Do you have any hair growth videos
