    Hello, I’m new to your channel. I recently cut my dreads off after 5 years and staying natural, I’ve learned so much about my hair and hair porosity. I have low porosity thick with coils and curls 😫🤣 but I’m loving my hair way more now than I did with my dreads. I’m still learning but have totally embraced the look.

      @@CJAmaraLet it be known you can also use regular conditioners for pre-poo. I prefer my regular conditioner than the deep conditioner for detangling. Like she said, most regular conditioners don’t do anything on low porosity mainly because of larger amounts of humectant penetrating your hair I believe. Correct me if i’m wrong, but regular conditioner is literally just made to sit on the hair strand.

    warm water and clarifying really help with low porosity hair! Im low porosity 4b-c, fine-medium strands, medium porosity . I actually wash with shampoo 2x a week but clarify 1x/week. it was a ganechanger for me to wash more than 1x a week, contributing to me gaining about 1 inch a month, even when wearing my hair out the whole month. I think also it was way better for my scalp - it rarely itches anymore. I think low porosity hair benefits so much from the more frequent contact with water. however, i rarely need to refresh during the week - i only use a curl cream to style. if i do a wash and go, i will use a leave in and gel. i also started using an oil blend instead of straight shea butter. i usually use lightweight products that have a lot of moisturizing ingredients like hyaluronic acid or squalene or argan oil or aloe vera, etc etc. I avoid products with coconut oil AND shea butter high in the list. Oh and hydrolyzed wheat protein is a no in my stylers - everything protein free. Once a month I will use aphogee 2 minute keratin reconstructor. I dont use heat. I cut off the color/heat damage I did have a couple weeks ago.

    I used the LCC water, cantu avocado curl cream, and another product that’s a cream as well too and I actually get a week and a day or two of moisture. It took me seven years to have moisture that last more than a day or two in my hair. I also do twists not twist outs and sometimes other styles.

    As a low porosity girl, I absolutely use moisturizing shampoos. I think that’s where hair type *does* come in bc since I’m 4c I need moisture balance/maintenance in b/w clarifying shampoos. Using clarifying shampoo everytime I wash my hair would make it stripped, dry, & brittle. If you do wash n gos often, it would make sense to use clarifiers often. I wear braids a lot, so I go for moisturizing shampoos more.

    • @ShaniqueBuntyn
      @ShaniqueBuntyn  3 месяца назад +6

      Interesting! Thanks for sharing that! That’s thing about hair what may work for some, may not work for all. Moisturizing shampoos would make my hair greasy. I don’t do wash and gos often. I’m mainly in mini twists or braids.

    I started using deep conditioner now too because I was using light leave in conditioner and shea butter to lock it in, but it just felt like the shea but went to my roots and didn’t moisturize my ends and I would wake up the next day and my hair would be dry frizzy and the ends were shedding a lot. So now I use Carols daughter products and my hair loves it. My hair holds moisture on the en side but not the outside

      (I have ow porosity with fine strands) I use Aussie Moist 3 min miracle after using the Creme of Nature Argan oil shampoo. I don’t know the science behind this but my hair was frizzy , stiff and wasn’t absorbing moisture. I suspect its either the silicones in the Aussie moist or the fact that I used 2 moisturising products 🤷🏽‍♀

    I have always watched you for years because I have low porosity hair! I have this habit of taking care of my hair then when I go through my “ depression times ” I tend to fall off with my hair. I always say well my hair is so long if I damage it I’ll cut it! It will grow back because it always does so fast BUT I WANNA STOP BEING IN THAT MIDSET! I notice my hair would break because I tend to forget to cut my ends and I don’t moisture/wash my hair enough! I would leave products on my hair for a long time and keep adding and adding. Then I notice my scalp will become inflamed and so itchy! I told myself this the other day my hair would have been down to my hips if I took better care of my hair! ! By next year I want my hair down to my hips by the end of summer or the year! I will definitely be buying your oil! Thank you so much again for these tips 🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽
