    warm water and clarifying really help with low porosity hair! Im low porosity 4b-c, fine-medium strands, medium porosity . I actually wash with shampoo 2x a week but clarify 1x/week. it was a ganechanger for me to wash more than 1x a week, contributing to me gaining about 1 inch a month, even when wearing my hair out the whole month. I think also it was way better for my scalp - it rarely itches anymore. I think low porosity hair benefits so much from the more frequent contact with water. however, i rarely need to refresh during the week - i only use a curl cream to style. if i do a wash and go, i will use a leave in and gel. i also started using an oil blend instead of straight shea butter. i usually use lightweight products that have a lot of moisturizing ingredients like hyaluronic acid or squalene or argan oil or aloe vera, etc etc. I avoid products with coconut oil AND shea butter high in the list. Oh and hydrolyzed wheat protein is a no in my stylers - everything protein free. Once a month I will use aphogee 2 minute keratin reconstructor. I dont use heat. I cut off the color/heat damage I did have a couple weeks ago.

      Agreeed. It’s so opposite of how I was raised to put grease in my hair, etc. My hair does better when I wash it twice a week, especially since I’m in the gym six days a week. Clarifying once a week I do the exact same thing. Although I don’t think that there’s such thing as over, clarifying low porosity 4B hair

      @@CJAmaraLet it be known you can also use regular conditioners for pre-poo. I prefer my regular conditioner than the deep conditioner for detangling. Like she said, most regular conditioners don’t do anything on low porosity mainly because of larger amounts of humectant penetrating your hair I believe. Correct me if i’m wrong, but regular conditioner is literally just made to sit on the hair strand.

    As a low porosity girl, I absolutely use moisturizing shampoos. I think that’s where hair type *does* come in bc since I’m 4c I need moisture balance/maintenance in b/w clarifying shampoos. Using clarifying shampoo everytime I wash my hair would make it stripped, dry, & brittle. If you do wash n gos often, it would make sense to use clarifiers often. I wear braids a lot, so I go for moisturizing shampoos more.

    • @ShaniqueBuntyn
      @ShaniqueBuntyn  4 месяца назад +7

      Interesting! Thanks for sharing that! That’s thing about hair what may work for some, may not work for all. Moisturizing shampoos would make my hair greasy. I don’t do wash and gos often. I’m mainly in mini twists or braids.

    So no matter how many videos you watch you still have to find what works for your hair. There are some great tips in this video but it will still vary by density as well as porosity. As a low to medium density, fine strand, 4b, low porosity girlie, i double wash every 2 weeks, as every week was too much for my hair. I deep condition with heat every wash alternating protein and moisturizing conditioner. Use a regular conditioner in the shower that helps me detangle after my wash. My hair will be a frizz ball overnight if i just use conditioner and oil after DC. Mousse and aloe or flax based gel with every style is a must because it will not last more than two days if i don't and i need to refresh my hair about every 4th day so i wash on Monday, style on tuesday, refresh on sunday, refresh again on wedneday and by the time i get to the following monday for another wash day my hair is thirsty again for a full wash day. It's a lot but i trim 1x annually professionally and my stylist is impressed with how my consistency pays off. Took of maybe an inch during my last trim earlier this month. So long winded version of find what works for your hair😊

    I did the water test and I’m low Porosity but my hair dries fast even after I water it and sometimes very easily gets wet when washing 😢

      You could have a mix of both but also did you use a strand of hair that was freshly washed? No conditioner no moisturizer

      Also hair drying quickly and getting wet quickly is a good indicator of having high porosity hair
