    My Back Story With Weed:
    For eight years, from 2010-2017, I smoked almost every day. Although many people smoke every day, I did it in a way that avoided emotions and responsibilities that I (1) didn't want to deal with and (2) didn't know how to deal with.
    As such, my life down spiraled in many ways. Simply put, smoking weed was my entire purpose and the only thing that made me feel good.
    Without any goals and aspirations, or rather, without pursuing and achieving goals and aspirations, my life became empty. In the hopes of creating a better life, I felt that quitting pot for life was the only solution. It was a do or die type mentality.
    From 2011-2017, I was frustrated with my inability to stay committed and quit weed.
    Here's the key, I was focused on the wrong thing. Rather than focusing on the actions it takes to achieve my goals, I focused on actions that it took to not smoke weed. Achieving our goals has nothing to do with smoking or not smoking, it has to do with doing the things one must do in order to achieve one's goals.
    That also includes the way one smokes weed. But it's only part of the picture.
    Thus, I stopped trying to quit, because ultimately I LOVE weed and the benefits it can have for people.
    What I also stopped doing was smoking in a way that hurt me and took me away from my goals.
    Now a days, I focus primarily on the creation of my goals and dreams. I align all my actions and lifestyle with this primary goal. This includes aligning the way I use pot to serve my purpose.
    I no longer smoke everyday. I no longer smoke every week. Currently, I only smoke when I've achieved certain goals. Cause goals are more important than being high.
    What works for me is this: Being high is only allowed when the goals are being achieved. Otherwise, being high is a waste of time, energy, and ultimately not empowering on a daily basis.
    I get what I truly want now. I achieve the goals and I still enjoy the beauty of marijuana when it fits in my life!

      Thats one of the things the guy who made the video seems to have forgotten. Weed may be a plant but it contains chemicals that affect the brain. Not everything revolves around motivation and discipline. After a long period of constant smoking your dopamine levels are fcked up, and dopamine is the hormone your body produces to give you satisfaction after doing something. Eventually you get so much dopamine from weed that your body doesn't have to produce it as much, and you start to feel everything is boring without weed. And when you stop giving dopamine shots to your brain it'll make you crave to get some

    Weed gives me social anxiety, not all the time, but most of the time. It gets in the way of everything I like to do, I.e gym and going out. All I want to do is smoke and once I smoke, all I wanna do is be sober. The problem is definitely the weed, for me at least.

    Funny thing, after 26 years of being high, sobriety is an altered state of conciousness. Lol. I'm taking a time out. I still love weed, but I wasn't respectful to her. This is my first sleepless night since I've decided to drastically reduce the amount of pot I smoke. Two things are getting me through it: the fact that I know the symptoms of withdrawal will eventually abate, and the fact that I made the conscious choice to reduce my intake myself. It wasn't forced on me, so I don't feel any sense of resentment for not having my fix, and the fact that I'm cutting back instead of quitting completely gives me a light at the end of the tunnel.

People underestimate and are purely blinded by how these 2 things can take over your life and waste it for years and years. I stopped smoking weed after 12 years of full non-stop (I was 13 when I started, very depressed and I hated my father and my life). But I only lasted 8 months without it, after those I just couldn't stop dreaming smoking with my dream friends. So I had to go back to smoke, I felt I would probably die so I had to smoke again, very frightening, that was in December. Today is my 3rd day without weed, I feel very strange. my 1st and 2nd day was completely sleepless. But this is a very good experience, times of crisis are also times for self and inner growth. Much love Gabe

    I smoked for 2 years. I quit a month ago and it was easy I just stopped and didn't think about it at all. Even when I hang out with my friends who smoke when I'm there. I have no desire . Keep in mind i loved it and could smoke 10 joints a day if I had money. My personality is very addictive I realized that with anything I do . So I had to stop so it didn't ruin my life further because it made me very lazy to the point where I didn't care about anything but weed. But that's just me , other people can have a life and smoke too just not me. Good luck to everyone and remember what you want from yourself that's all that matters(:

    Two months since my answer; I will recommend stoners to take a cholinergic + uridine. You will not get rid of all the non-desired effects but if you use nootropics in a smart way you're going to have great benefits.
    Memory loss deceased, more energy, less lazyness overall... But mainly you will get rid of memory loss problem with that little trick that now I can say saved my life.
    I think nootropics are a good way to self-medicate in a responsible way, and to avoid lots of issues. Have you experienced with them? Now I'm in love with rhodiola rosea, centrophenoxine, modafinil (occasionally when I need extra motivation & energy), Korean ginseng and NAC (this last one is also great for memory)
    I think I will do a channel in my mother tongue (Spanish) and talk about this and more things, because I feel is something awesome not a lot of people know, and people often relay in caffeine and more potent and dangerous stimulants to counter-act nasty side-effects of cannabis. At least as far as I anecdotically know.
    Have you tried nootropics? Did you use them for this cause?

    I’m sorry, it took me taking weed out of the equation to be able to dive back into life again. For me, it was the high that was messing up everything. Of course, the physical entity of the plant is not to blame. Just like any object. A donut still remains a donut. But consume a donut everyday and the relationship changes with the donut. Bc now it is literally part of you. It’s taken root within your blood stream. It’s accessed your taste buds. It’s not a single entity anymore. It’s now you and the donut. With weed, it’s the same correlation. It’s the marriage within my blood stream, which was clouding all aspects of my life. All of it. So I have successfully removed it, and now on a path of new discoveries. Anyway, i hate to sound like I’m trying to talk down on your method. But I honestly believe a clean cut is necessary in order to see things clearly, again.

    I think you have a valid point in transitioning from the view of thinking that marijuana was the culprit behind your downward spirals in life to that which focuses more on the relationship shared with the drug, however, I think that you are missing a big part of how your efforts to abstain was part of the process of changing that relationship which you share with cannabis. Being frank, I believe that I have been sharing a very similar experience to that of yours, but I believe that even my failures to maintain sobriety were able to contribute to the change in mindset that I had approaching my issues. I think the beating yourself up and feeling like shit after relapsing is part of the painful process of changing your lifestyle and among other things. Also, I think it is surprisingly hard for people to quit mostly because they build an environment around the use of marijuana which can range from friendships to activities that when abstaining can create it immensely difficult to distance yourself from falling back to the abusive relationship. Not only that, but I believe that the chemical imbalances and state of mind are withdrawal incentives to fallback. But I 100% agree, anyone can regain control over their lives. It is just a painful and long process for some, and for others its even harder to find what works for them.

Just as an alcoholic shouldn't enjoy a beer every once in a while. Also little tip to anyone trying to quit. I bought some CBD hemp flower and smoked that every time I got an urge to smoke for about a week. Just a week of using that instead of normal weed and the temptation is virtually gone. It was seriously the easiest it has ever been for me to quit. (I've "quit" on many occasions)

    One aspect that I consider negative is mediation. When high, entering a meditative state is on demand most of the time. However after some time of use, when you try to enter a meditative state while not high it is not as simple, you have to put in extra effort(or lack there of).

I never smoke before I get work done. Only when I'm anxious. Weed isn't the culprit its the person. Why you do it, when you do it and how much affects it. You dont need to get shit faced on it every time. Just enough to relax.

    While this is true that weed isnt responsible and that its you and your usage of it.. Weed does hold a degree of culpability when you consider this from a population health standpoint. When there isnt enough education about the dangers of weed, and furthermore, when kids who have no real responsibility or consequence will understandably laugh and not listen to those dangers, the only way to reach the conclusion that it can be harmful is to either be an anxious person who needs control, or to experience its harm, (altering the course of your life in the process) and hopefully pull through and change their relationship in a healthy manner. You are absolutely right that true change can come from a change within. However, reaching that space is not something that everyone can or does reach. Thats why many weed smokers need there to be NO weed in the house. Otherwise its getting smoked. The lens cap is an imperfect analogy. The lens cap is an object that has no direct effect on your brain chemistry. Drugs directly cause euphoria and contentment, thereby giving them large psychological abuse potential. I strongly disagree that its in our full capacity to not abide by their thoughts. Have you seen how heroin or opiate addicts personality completely changes? They have no control, the drug runs them. They abandon their morals, they lie to their family, they cheat and steal. They lose themselves for the psychological comfort of the drug. Not many people would shout at a heroin addict and say "YOU are to blame for your lack of morals right now, not the drug." No. They are not themselves. Similarly, when strongly addicted to marijuana, it weakens their mental fortitude. Their ambitions slip away, and its much harder to convince yourself to do the things that are boring or hard and are in conflict with that sense of euphoria. Not many people would say that opiate addicts are in a "victim mindset". There is no responsible usage of heroin. For some people, there is no responsible usage of alcohol. For some people, there is no responsible usage of marijuana. Because yes, that drug will victimize your brain chemistry. Those substances are like bullets to your personality. Removing them from your life will significantly increase your chances of staying on task and on goals.

      Weed is an inanimate object if you can't handle yourself to not get high every moment of your life then it's your fault, I had a friend who was a "weed addict" and all he did was cry about how bad his situation was but do nothing to improve it. It's all just victim mentallity.

    • @nikhilmalik62
      @nikhilmalik62 3 года назад

      @@chiefinhydro6800 I agree that victim mentality is a problem and irritating. I think that people have profound ability to make excuses. You friend is one example, many like him, but just like any population, there is variance, and to draw a generalization for the entire group of people susceptible to addiction feels a bit lazy. Try working in a substance abuse clinic and talking to rape and assault victims who spiral out of control with drug addiction to escape their real trauma or...kids with abusive parents. Listen to some peoples stories of how torn up they are. Being mentally/emotionally unstable due to past events can severely impair you from making rational life choices. Some people have themselves to blame and don't elicit empathy over the narrative, and some stories deserve empathy and there is a spirit that is broken, and needs mending.

    I will say sugar and sugar addiction is way more fucked up than weed, the fact is that a lot of stoners goes to the immediate pleasure of sugar at primary munchies. Also combined by the fact that indica strains produce way more product and dealers prefer to grow and sell them for profit.
    Indica=slugginess and lack of motivation, heavy body, sleepiness...
    Also if you research about sugar you will find it is EVERYWHERE and it is MORE ADDICTIVE THAN COCAINE, appears to be at 6x more, also is LEGAL and easily available and is not a worry at first instance, it's a drug given also to kids...
    I will suggest to anyone over there that think that weed is the problem and is struggling very hard to quit to try this things before or during the quitting trip:
    1. Take cold showers instead of warm ones: I realized if I'm way too stoned to do anything I want a perfect solution, much better than taking caffeine (and avoiding to build another addiction/bad habit)
    2. Meditate before smoking: With this procedure you're going to think better the decision you're going to make, I realized when I do this a lot of times I'm going to postpone it because it's not the good moment for getting high.
    3. Plan a complete diet: You can use chronometer for that, I'm in the way to experiment a keto diet, did it before and felt awesome, researching and doing everything to go for the long run (fact: if you do keto you use fat, thc stores in fat so if you're in ketosis you will detox from thc much much faster also ;) )
    4. Keep moving and doing things you want to do! As Gabriel told if you don't do a shit you will stop smoking and don't do a shit also (I had personally experienced this)
    5. Don't do of weed your lifestyle: If you want to manage your urge I will suggest to do a minimalist space, get rid of everything that reminds you to get stoned to keep it somewhere you can see it when you want to. I suggest to maximize the focus by minimizing distractions.
    My personal advice is:
    Before quitting weed:
    Quit your smartphone, who does admits that's addicted to it? And you maybe are one addicted too...
    Quit your other bad habits, quit sugar, minimize refined carbs (pasta, white bread), quit caffeine, quit procrastination, quit messing your circadian rythm, quit compulsive watching of RUclips videos, take off TV of your home... And fill that awesome free time with awesome stuff you want to do.
    I assure you that when you do all those things you will get for granted that weed isn't the evil, you will manage your habit much much better and if you've done all that... Quitting weed is easy, just move on, change your life: Have non-stoners friends, go to another city where you know no stoners... Going to another place and starting from scratch is awesome!
    Good luck in your life trip to everyone ;)

    I like what you have said and really it does make sense but I feel like alot of people listened to this video and used it has hard justification to just keep smoking. I have way too much input to put it all into a youtube comment lol but I believe there are way too many scenarios to consider where it actually does make sense to quit. Not everyone functions the same when smoking weed and its key that when quitting that you start striving for other goals for your future after a few weeks/months when it clears from your system. You need to put that clarity from not smoking to work or you will see no point in quitting when you could do nothing while smoking weed rather than just nothing. If you just quit and decide ur not happy cause ur not smoking weed without putting in work to achieve your other goals in that time of clarity then ur just falling back to weed instead of falling forward to big goals.(You have to be able to grow up and stop acting like ur sad when ur not smoking weed and reap the benifits and not waste the benifits because you want to justify ur want for weed) When you fall you need to get back up. and when you get back up and fall again you get back up again. fail fail fail until you achieve goals. And the last thing I'm going to include is that the people who smoke weed and are succesful cant be looked at as "succesful because of weed", if anything in a large amount of cases sold them selves short of something way bigger because they settled for less. Which isn't horrible but something to consider. It didn't boost their success it slowed the production and made it more of a challenge. Again I respect what you have said but feel like a few too many people are going to use this as justification rather than hearing your real message. Cheers [Day #21 without weed]

    • @GabrielSantos_28
      @GabrielSantos_28  5 лет назад +1

      I see your point. Its possible some, even many, could use this as justification. I am glad you understand my overall message. For that I appreciate you. Not to mention the comment! Love all you shared. And congrats on where you are in your journey. 21 days is worthy of celebration. Even if its just acknowledgment of a job well done.
      I acknowledge and celebrate you.
      That said, although some will use this video to justify themselves, some will also watch it and feel a sense of relief and validation that someone out there relates with their experience.
      A persons relationship with weed is personal and unique, 1 of 1.
      In many ways, weed is a teacher. Really no different than a persons favorite youtube channel, or personal development teacher.
      At times, I can recall watching every video of Tony Robbins. I couldnt get enough.
      Then, for a while, I didnt watch or read any of his material.
      Then, again at a different time in my life I absorbed his material.
      Hope that made sense.
      I get your point and respect it. Mine is just another way to look at it. And there are infinite amounts of other ways to look at it.
      Peace!

    Hello Gabriel, what do you think about the lost of motivation that the abuse of weed created, how to take the control again?

    • @GabrielSantos_28
      @GabrielSantos_28  3 года назад

      Yea that one can feel tricky at first.
      In my experience, your natural motivation ought to kick in when you commit to making things happen and not running to short term pleasures for happiness.
      That way, your brain will seek happiness through action and true reward by going after what you want in life (dreams, goals).
      A big part of a lack of motivation for people is they are afraid. Afraid to fail. Among other fears and concerns.
      And so people stop smoking, but they still dont go after their dreams. Some may not even know their dreams.
      And so without weed, a person is forced to go through the natural stages of life and overcome each obstacle head on.
      Its the journey of going after all your goals and facing the fear and adversity, and overcoming it.
      Once you find momentum and certainty in your ability to make shit happen again, you wont need motivation.
      Your vision will pull you. It becomes who you are and the center of how you conduct your entire life.
      Hope that helped!

    • @GabrielSantos_28
      @GabrielSantos_28  3 года назад

      When you start to FEEL the happiness of taking action and making things happen, youll naturally look for what ACTIONS will make you feel happy too. True happy.

    Agree and disagree, because you’re saying more than one thing. Yes, it’s you (or whomever) who needs to change, because weed is not going to change itself. And occasional use won’t cause your life to spiral out of control. But weed lowers cognitive performance (reversibly), causes rise in baseline blood pressure in many habitual users, and those things can ruin lives.

    Dude, you are addicted. That's why you can't stop. I've said the same exact things as you before. I tried quitting 1000 times. I said the same thing. I finally quit, and it feels great. No more paranoia, no more not wanting to go to the store, no more being afraid of looking people in the eye, no more avoiding my family, no more munchies at 12 am, no more getting fat off of munchies, no more skipping the gym, no more procrastinating. THC takes over your endocannabinoid system and gives you a fake boost in dopamine. It demotivates you in the long term, because your brain gets used to receiving a rush of dopamine from not doing anything. The more often you do it, the more you require weed to enjoy anything. That's why stoners have to smoke wherever they go. If I didn't have weed, I would become depressed and suicidal. I would get angry at everything. That's no way to live. I'd rather find happiness and satisfaction in real accomplishments, not weed. You look too young and inexperienced to be writing books on addiction and selling it. You're the definition of an addict. GOOD LUCK BUDDY.
