with those pastel colourful background, the sequins actually looks like water droplets! I think this has become one of my fav videos you've ever done 🙌🙌
I love he use of the plastic bag. It allows you to see where the different color inks are going. Great tip for the layered sentiment. It is common sense, but I never thought of doing it. Silly me. LOL
Love the background you created, Kristina! A variation--if you don't mind waiting for a while--would be to leave the plastic in place on the watercolor paper until the ink dries. That gives something of a neat marbled effect. Obviously, though, you couldn't heat set it to dry. Great choice of colors--tfs! :)
Thanks so much for this video I have been searching for a simply different idea for a wedding invitation ,and watching you today I can honestly say I have found it , again thank you xxxxx
love love love the delicate pastel feel of this card. I finally ordered my first 4 Distress Oxide ink pads today after watching a Creativation 2018 Tim Holtz demo! so will definitely have a try of this technique with the clear cello bag when my pads arrive. keep the technique videos coming for oxides I need all the help I can get lol . oh and Happy Birthday, sending hugs from NW England UK xx
I discovered that using old piece of cotton clothing like worn out pajamas instead of paper towels is much better. They soak up much better, they don't shed or tear, they can be washed, and if they get too dirty I just toss them in the garbage since that's where they were going anyway. And paper towels are horrible for the environment.
my mom actually saves up old bedsheets to cut up for using them for dusting so I cut a piece out of them as big as I want when I need and it works out just well too and I use it how I would use a piece of paper towel when I paint with watercolors
I just have to say how much i have enjoyed watching your videos. I forgot to leave my comment on you last card. You used the distressed oxide reinkers and the big flower stamp. I really do get some good ideas watching your techniques. Thank you
Oh this is just beautiful, Kristina! It's sort of mysterious. I did like that muddy green in the small dose. You know, I think that Smooshing technique was mine from YEARS ago. One of my students named it and it stuck. Or maybe not. But it looks about right. See what happens when you've been around too long. LOL!
Love the colors you used in this! I'm going to give this a try with regular distress inks, and maybe skip or use something different for the stripes, since I don't have any big stripes.
I bought the Neenah cardstock after noticing so many people use it in crafting but my projects come out sooooo flimsy and out of shape when I use it. Then I realized what I ordered was the 90lb and not 110!! It makes a huge difference really. I was wondering how come the cards Kristina and Jennifer make stay firm compared to my limpy ones :P
Sadly the 90lb came in a big thick pack (like an A4 printer paper pack). I was excited I thought the 110lb will be the same. It came in a very small pack.... :( But the quality is great.
Loved this technique with the oxide inks. The plastic sandwich bag is perfect! I wonder how it would look if somehow the inks dried before removing the bag? Creativity never ends does it? Beautiful card!
Still on the fence about these new inks...need to see them in person as they look so chalky and flat on the monitor. Your videos, however are always first class!
Marilyn Bailey so was I so did buy just two to play with and experiment. blend so easily and no line between colors like I get in ŕegular distress . like the alot and don't look chalky unless you wet them. will get some more as I have money
Kristina, your card is beautiful. I hope I don't see the Distress Oxide Inks as a flash-in-the-pan, because I am going to buy a bunch tomorrow at 25% off! Thanks for the plastic bag technique and your information about the adhesive you use with watercolor paper, etc. Say hi to the kitties.
Hi, I always enjoy your videos. I have learned a lot thanks to them. You are very talented! Just one question, does that Stripe Builder stamp from Concord and 9th was a limited edition? I can’t find it.
Did you remove the embossing powder before adding the water droplets? Out looks like they are over the striped areas that we covered in EP. Beautiful card!
I have tried to use embossing powder overtop of dried watercolor before and found that my embossing powder clings to the whole paper rather then just the versa ink, basically ruining my project. Do you thinks it’s my paper or embossing powder that caused this?
I love watching your videos, you have such a gentle voice and creative mind. I was wondering, do you ever sell any card concepts to big card companies like Hallmark? Or do you just sell the individual ones you make?
Kristina, will this be similar finish as using regular distress inks? I just can't afford to buy all new ink pads, although these oxides seems really great.
No, Oxide inks have their own look. They behave somewhat like Distress inks, but these are creamy and you can stamp with them on dark surfaces. Tim Holtz has a video here on RUclips where he shows the differences.
Beautiful card, as usual. I'm just wondering how you avoid / correct Little imperfections on the die cuts? Any time I use my word dies I can always see little bumps from where the holes in the dies were. I've tried flattening them out with a bone folder but they never look pristine.
Hi Kristina ~ I absolutely LOVE this Mr. & Mrs. die font. My son just got married and we were doing lots of crafting and die cutting and this font would have been perfect. I may have to just get it and save it for the next one!! Thanks so much for sharing the new technique with the Oxide inks. Have an awesome weekend! ~HUGS~ #kindnessmatters
fabgrl 99 I don't think you can get the same result with anything else because this is a brand new type of ink, the fusion of water reactive dye ink and pigment ink.
My paper wasn't too warped. If you're worried about that, you could tape the paper down and carefully flip the sandwich bag over. I've done that in the past, too.
Evan Xin Er Hong Jennifer McGuire has done this already if you watch her stuff. Basically the oxide has pigment innit so you can stamp on black and other dark coloured papers whereas regular distressed doesn't show up as they are dye based. Plus oxide colours 'pop' as you saw when they are exposed to water. That's pretty much it. I'm glad I didn't invest in distressed as oxide as more options. Looking forward to more colours coming out like distressed!
Constellation27 You have to dry the paper with a heat tool on the front and back and that will flatten the card stock almost flat. When you adhere the card to the card base, just be sure to use plenty of adhesive.
hi, do you (or anyone reading this) know of any stamp companies that do Mr&Mr or Mrs&Mrs stamps, some of my good friends are getting married soon and it would be awesome if I could make them a card.
with those pastel colourful background, the sequins actually looks like water droplets! I think this has become one of my fav videos you've ever done 🙌🙌
Wow, what a wonderful coloring idea, the colors are just marvelous. Thanks so very much.
The background looks like really cool designer paper! Love it!
love the sandwich bag idea - how inexpensive, clever and workable! Thank you.
I leave your videos on her voice is so soothing
Wow This is an awesome technique Kristina , flipping the paper with the plastic was a game changer !
Gorgeous card Kristina and I love the idea of using a sandwich bag. Thanks for the inspiration and education!
I love he use of the plastic bag. It allows you to see where the different color inks are going. Great tip for the layered sentiment. It is common sense, but I never thought of doing it. Silly me. LOL
Love that you used unexpensive plastic bag! Great technique! LOVE your card making videos!!!
So pretty! I made my first panel with DOs last night, but didn't think to emboss. Love the bag idea, too!
soft and beautiful colors...thank you Kristina pat
Love the card and love the places your very creative mind must go to come up with these wonderful ideas. Thanks so much.
Love this card. I too am enjoying the oxide inks. cant wait to try this technique. Thanks for sharing.
Great technique, and I love the water droplets, they add so much dimension to the card. the sequins mirror that dimension. TFS!
What a fantastic technique! I'll definitely be trying this with my Distress Oxides soon. Thank you for the inspiration!

this is really neat...love your ideas...thank you for continuing to spread inspiration and the love of this industry...appreciate you
Very pretty and I love the resist you did. Will have to try this out.
So pretty. At first I thought it was paper inlaid because of the stripes. You are a paper crafting genius 😉👏🏼
Thank you so much, Kristina. Your videos always inspire me.
Beautiful card. Love the way the background turned out. TFS
Beautiful background, thanks for sharing. Your card is gorgeous.
great little card and an interesting technique. TFS
Thanks so much for this video I have been searching for a simply different idea for a wedding invitation ,and watching you today I can honestly say I have found it , again thank you xxxxx

THIS PASTEL GOODNESS IS SO SATISFYING
love love love the delicate pastel feel of this card. Liked watching you do this technique and looks like something I just might try. Good job Kristina...pretty card!
I discovered that using old piece of cotton clothing like worn out pajamas instead of paper towels is much better. ProteaAurea what a great tip!
my mom actually saves up old bedsheets to cut up for using them for dusting so I cut a piece out of them as big as I want when I need and it works out just well too and I use it how I would use a piece of paper towel when I paint with watercolors
And when the rag is full of paint it can be used to cover a book or journal
I just have to say how much i have enjoyed watching your videos. I forgot to leave my comment on you last card. You used the distressed oxide reinkers and the big flower stamp. I really do get some good ideas watching your techniques. Thank you
what a great and different wedding card!

Great Idea for a card. I prefer brighter colors. You gave me some ideas here and Thanks.
Love the colors you used in this! I'm going to give this a try with regular distress inks, and maybe skip or use something different for the stripes, since I don't have any big stripes.
Beautiful.
Lovely!!!
This is so beautiful! I really wish I could give you 19 extra thumbs up ;) love your work ❤️

I had the same problem 😑
:| lol xD

Great video..

Carol Jones I think they are here to stay--just like the Distress Inks :-).
Hi, I always enjoy your videos. I have learned a lot thanks to them. You are very talented! Just one question, does that Stripe Builder stamp from Concord and 9th was a limited edition? I can’t find it.
E' veramente molto bello!! ^_^
Can you make a video explaining all the stuff that u use ? Like everything cause i wanna know what to buy
Kristina, was this done with an electronic die cutter? If so, which do you use when you do electronic cutting? Or do you just use the big shot?
Did you remove the embossing powder before adding the water droplets? Out looks like they are over the striped areas that we covered in EP.
Beautiful card!
Pretty :)
I have tried to use embossing powder overtop of dried watercolor before and found that my embossing powder clings to the whole paper rather then just the versa ink, basically ruining my project. Do you thinks it’s my paper or embossing powder that caused this?
Your watercolor probably isn't completely dry. You might let it dry some more and also use an anti-static powder tool. That's where I'd start.
I love watching your videos, you have such a gentle voice and creative mind. I was wondering, do you ever sell any card concepts to big card companies like Hallmark? Or do you just sell the individual ones you make?

Where can I get that fine metal applicator tip for the Ranger Multi Medium Matte?
This card is SO gorgeous!
Can you use this idea on regular cardstock
Beautiful card, as usual. I'm just wondering how you avoid / correct Little imperfections on the die cuts? Any time I use my word dies I can always see little bumps from where the holes in the dies were. I've tried flattening them out with a bone folder but they never look pristine.
I get those, too, but I don't worry about them too much. Not sure what to do about them so I just live with them. :)
I heard you can send them back through your big shot to flatten them
what is the machine you are using for the emboss print on the sheet?
Where did you get tip on glue bottle

Do the oxide inks feel chalky after they dry on the paper? Is there an odour from the ink pad? TY
Deborah Anne yeah I wonder if it feels chalky too because it looks like it
Deborah Anne I have found that is a little.
Nikki, do you mean that there is a little odour or they feel a little chalky? TY
They only look chalky if you add water to them. I don't think they're really chalky, though. I get a soft vibe more.
Deborah Anne I didn't notice an odor. They look chalky and they do feel kind of in between smooth and chalky.
what is that glue or something?
Can u tell me another way to gt da same result but using smthing except distress oxide inks
fabgrl 99 I don't think you can get the same result with anything else because this is a brand new type of ink, the fusion of water reactive dye ink and pigment ink.
Donna Jo thanks alot
Very pretty however I can hardly make out the greeting, it's a little too pale, a slightly darker shade would give more contrast thanx
i think that's the first time you did not cut the ends of the smallest sentiment into the shape of a banner
could you have die cut the Mr & Mrs with foam?
The only problem with this technique is when doing the "smooshing" with the ink and water, it really warps the paper in the drying process.
My paper wasn't too warped. If you're worried about that, you could tape the paper down and carefully flip the sandwich bag over. I've done that in the past, too.
Could you make a video that compare distress ink & oxide? Your voice is so soothing and I love your videos!!

Where do u get the brown craft sheet that covers your work surface ?
cheryl S. it would be linked in the description
I was using a Ranger Craft Sheet. There is a link in the video description.
Thank u :)
