    Best analogy I have heard about distress oxides (paint) and ink (stain). Since I don't own them I struggled to understand it. And I have recently ordered oxides and this makes me feel more confident about my choice. ❤

    Perfect. I need to understand the difference in the 2. Funny I had no idea. There is a truly difference. I’ve been very unwell since November. I pray daily to get well. It’s been a very long 9 months. 🤦‍♀️ So I have folders for each of my 6 RUclips friends for this.. We had a new home built. I’ve got a file cabinet. I have your names and the girls I’m following. I look forward to be able to actually create. Your “heart card” is truly amazing. Thank, you, for sharing your gorgeous. Hugs. 🤗

    I'm also a huge fan of distress oxides!! One of my favorite things is ink smooshing, drying between layers, then layering colors that would make mud with any other ink. Buuuuut, I have also fallen in love the with the new formulations of dye inks too. ruclips.net/video/gYyRJTaG_eg/видео.html I still think Oxides blend easier, but the new dye inks are AMAZING for stamping. I wish I had seen this Video before I bought the entire set of Distress Inks. I do a lot of stamping and couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t get a distinct image from them. • @RebeccaKeppel
      @RebeccaKeppel  3 года назад

      They are still great inks to have, but yes, definitely better for techniques than stamping. :( Whereas I do really love to even stamp with the Oxides. I am thinking about a video sharing how to use regular Distress and Distress Oxides together, so stay tuned for that as you collect some more Oxides! • @avaDesdemona
    @avaDesdemona 2 года назад +1

    Hey, regarding stamping with the regular distress inks, it works if you use an embossing pad like the versamark first. Ink the stamp with the versamark, don't stamp! And ink again with your chosen distress pad, the sticky surface prevents the the ink from "moving" on your stamp, sort of... I'm not sure why it works.

    • @RebeccaKeppel
      @RebeccaKeppel  2 года назад +1

      I actually don't have any problems stamping with Distress Oxide inks! But I do season all new stamps with multiple stamped images or putting versamark on and wiping it off.

    • @avaDesdemona
      @avaDesdemona 2 года назад

      @@RebeccaKeppel I didn't mean the oxides, I meant the regular distress inks. I got a few of the little sets when I started crafting again, and found a video showing that trick after struggling to use them for stamping...
      I love the oxides so much more though! The colours just kind of pop more I guess :-)

    Another amazing video! I have been going back and forth on whether or not to invest in Distress Oxide inks. I have all the Distress inks in the mini size. I purchased my first Distress Oxide last week and practiced blending over the weekend with my new blending brushes. 😀 It was amazing. Even with my poor blending skills. Thanks for showing how versatile these inks are. Your video was so timely for me.

      That makes me so happy to hear! They make SUCH a difference! I tend to be way to heavy handed with Distress Inks (with everything really lol) and so I end up with lots of harsh lines. No more with Oxides! Now they are my go-to ink. I love all the bright colors too!

    Thank you for this video!! I needed this! You gave very clear distinctions between the two inks, and the analogy with paint vs stain cleared things up immensely!! Thanks for actually showing us various examples and providing ideas! Awesome!!! I will definitely be referring back to this once I get some Oxides instead of the distress inks I currently have!!💗💗💗

    I love Distress Oxide inks too! I have the whole set and even preordered the new colors. Number one reason..blending! Until I got these inks my blending was terrible....now I feel like an expert, lol...which I’m definitely not, lol. 😂 thanks for sharing

    The oxides were new when I started stamping a few years ago and I invested in some and love them so much that I still haven't bought any of the original Distress inks. I've seen a few stampers who use the Distress inks for watercoloring and the results are amazing so I want to eventually get some. Thanks for sharing the video.

    • @RebeccaKeppel
      @RebeccaKeppel  4 года назад +1

      The regular Distress Inks do watercolor differently than the Oxides because they dry with more of a traditional watercolor look. But if you're mainly going to use them that way, you could definitely just get the cubes which is way more cost effective than full sized pads. When I first discovered Distress Ink, I bought cubes and then bought some refills for my absolute favorite colors. Some of the lightest colors seem to need to be refilled more quickly like Spun Sugar or Tumbled Glass....or maybe I just use those the most lol?!

    • @AndreMmmm
      @AndreMmmm 4 года назад +1

      Spun Sugar and Tumbled Glass are the only oxides I've need to refill so far, but as you said they are two of my most used.

    • @RebeccaKeppel

      @@AndreMmmm SAME for Oxides for me too! I am trying to build up my refills for JUST in case lol, but so far those are the only ones I've actually refilled.

    Thank you for explaining & showing the different results. It helps justify the price difference between the two types of inks. Being a newbie it's hard to know what's worth the expense and quality of products.

    • @RebeccaKeppel
      @RebeccaKeppel  4 года назад

      Oxides are my go-to ink and I use them for everything, so you're right it does justify the price for me. I have never bought as many of one type of ink before. Usually I just buy a few of my favorite colors. That's how I started with Oxides too, but as I learned how much I love them, I bought more and more!

    Thank you for the informative video. I have also become addicted to stamping with Distress Oxide inks! I actually use sponge daubers to apply the ink to my stamp because sometimes using the ink pad direct to my stamp puts out too much ink and can sometimes pool in detailed areas. but the daubers really help apply a thinner and smoother layer for those finer details or more subtle layers. Can I ask you where you got the mini cube of Speckled Egg Distress Ink? My understanding is that Ranger is waiting to release the new color cubes in sets of 4. I really don't want to wait!

    • @RebeccaKeppel
      @RebeccaKeppel  4 года назад +1

      That's a great way to deal with an extra juicy pad!
      The mini cube came in a Simon Says Kit two months ago, but it did sell out. I used it in this video: ruclips.net/video/3A9wadsbjMc/видео.html
      Good to know the mini's will be coming eventually! I wasn't sure if they just weren't producing them at all anymore! Thanks for the info!
