The thing that blows me away about these guys, is that even after all these years they *still* have the musical and vocal chops to bring it. Their live show was nothing short of amazing.
I've heard other lead singers from bands that were around at the same time as them...and time has not been their friend. They just can't execute all the vocal gymnastics like they used to.
Not Patton. He's as great as ever. Mind blown, man. Mind blown.

Exactly. That's why it breaks my heart that I'll never hear the Robert Plant's voice like it used to sound before, again. Time just flies, and we need to deal with that shitty fact.
Mike Patton is something else, entirely. No offense to the rest of the band, because this is my favorite, but he really elevated them to make them what they could be.
I became a better, clearer, and more versatile vocalist in my forties. Sometimes that's just how it works out.
I'd like to find out who the vocal coach was who saved him from his own bad habits: if he had kept on with some of the harmful vocal habits that he exhibited on the 'Real Thing' album, he would not have lasted so well. I'm pretty sure someone tapped him on the shoulder and said "son, you're going to throw away your world-class potential if you don't fix some of the gimmicks in your head-voice". He's been absolutely perfect from 'Angel Dust' onward, and still is.
Sometimes I wake up with this song in my head... out of nowhere.

This song to me describes the band perfectly, and now we will be hearing this song in the FNM we all know and love. They have a sense of humor that is for sure, will always have my support and love.

I love this Christmas music!
There are a few miracles in music that could make me as equally as happy as this:
- Kurt Cobain springs back to life and Nirvana gets back together.
- Freddie Mercury springs back to life and Queen gets back together.
- ...um uh.. I think that's it.
Considering these guys' legacy and just how many acts they've inspired, and 18 years since a studio release, I think we all need just a little bit of time for it to sink in to just how massively awesome this is. I mean it's not like FNM came back kinda so-so with this track. I can't stop f*cking listening to this track. If there are no speakers, it continues to play in my head. It's Angel Dust + Epic quality w/ a little bit of Introduce Yourself & We Care a Lot. After 18 years and then they sound like this? Just as good as they ever have? H-How?!?
I'd add Layne Staley springing back to life to sing with Alice in Chains, Jimi Hendrix springing back to life, and the original vocalist for Drowning Pool, Dave Williams, doing the same. Those are just three off the top of my head, I know there's numerous others...
Super pumped that FNM are back together for a new album. I know Mike likes to experiment and try new things(which is awesome), but here's to hoping he sticks with FNM for a few albums, regardless of other side projects or not.
