    2012 F350 Crew Cab - My experience on the install - 1) Heat up each bolt prior to removal with a torch for 1 minute. 2) Be prepared to workout your arms - take your time and just keep pulling the socket/break-over around. 3) I used a bottle jack with a 4x4 piece of wood situated under the cab edge to lift the cab. 4) Some of the lower pieces may seem a little stubborn coming out. Hit it a few times with a mini sledgehammer and prying and wiggling it. Soon, it will just fall loose. 5) When you go to install the new bolts, if you meet heavy resistance early on, there's probably some residual Loctite left from the previous bolts still in the threads of the cage nuts. Back the new bolt back out and you probably see a small amount of the Loctite dust fall out. Tap the bottom side of the new mount and little more may dislodge. The bolt going back in should not be as hard to get installed. It doesn't just spin in - but you'll know when it's time to torque it. 6) Do not use an impact to install either (just like on the removal). 7) Recheck your torques after you've driven it around a bit (on the same day so as to not disturb the Loctite setting up). 8) I did not find the front ones any more difficult than the others. Just heat the bolts as I stated in #1. I managed the job in 4 hours, taking my time.

      Man so glad I seen your comment bc I came on to try to find out if can or someone has done it with bottle jack, and I'm hoping mine aren't gonna be as difficult bc I had them done 3yrs ago so 🤞🏽 hoping the headache from original won't be there for these 3yr olds. Do I have to loosen opposite side I'm working on before?

    • @jamessterling1866
      @jamessterling1866 6 дней назад

      You don’t have to loosen the opposite side. But I cannot emphasize how important it is to heat the bolts before backing them out. Go slow and steady - you do not want to break off one of those welded in nuts. Whatever cab mounts you put in before, these are remarkably soft on the ride. I’m pleased with the investment. Be safe and best of luck!

    • @jamessterling1866
      @jamessterling1866 6 дней назад

      One more item - do not use an impact. It’s too great a risk to spin off one of the welded nuts.

      @@jamessterling1866 preciate it and ya they came out easy and I used polyurethane mounts and didn't have to heat them up and torqued them down to bout 62 is that bout right?

    Those factory mounts must be made out of red velvet cake.

    Replaced the mounts on my 2008 F350 DRW July 2023. Did not need heat or extreme effort to remove old bolts. Instructions said not to use impact wrench, so I broke them loose with a 24" bar and then used my 3/8" ratchet. I had been expecting much difficulty after assisting a neighbor get his done (he used polyurethane replacement). These are more than 4 times the cost of polyurethane, but I was sucked in by the "Lifetime" warranty. What a farce! That warranty only applies if you have them installed by a "Professional". The fronts and rears were completely worn out and the number 3s were deteriorated. However, at the end of the job the body lines were straight again. I can't say the ride quality is better because I had no complaints before.

      I saw that as well- S&B tells you how to install them yourself on their site, but the sheet included in the box lets you know that you're voiding the warranty by doing so. Not cool.

    If you cant get the uppers seperated from the lowers on the old mounts drill from the bottom with a 3/4" drill bit. Metal is soft and drills easily. Used a floor jack and a 2x4 extension.

    That stuff looks like urethane foam the bump stops every manufacturer uses now for standard suspension and on the upper end of the strut rod on strut type suspension and they hold up the protective boot so when they fall apart and drop the boot the mud and dirt wears the seal out on the strut insert itself and it leaks.

    My 12 f350 needs new bushings badly, but I can't afford the 700$ s&b wants. I'm seriously considering molding my own silicone bushings.

    Funny, just watched another video on this and it said not to use an impact because the mount could snap... What process do you suggest if you don't own a lift? I know a jack but do you do each individual or jack stand one side at a time? I have a crew cab dually, thanks!

      This truck is so clean the bolts probably came loose pretty easily. More rusted trucks might have more issues w mounts snapping.

      I used my 4 ton floor jack and a piece of 4x4 at each point. The only difficulty was driver side front: I have a spin on oil filter mounted there that I had to partially dismount.

    3rd generation FORD owner, but I believe that FORD has 'snookered' their customers with the use of inferior mounting material on what otherwise would be a great truck. In my case, a 2008 F-250, original owner, 31,000 miles, well-maintained, meticulously cleaned, FL vehicle garage kept EVERY night and STILL I had to replace all body mounts, rear bump stops, and 4 shocks due to the complete deterioration of the extra poor quality 'rubber' they slipped onto their trucks.

    I purchased these Mounts and just placed the S&B mounts !! at first they were nice, but with in 1000 miles Yes 1 thousand miles and the cab was shifting i had bolt noise on bumps and acceleration,, clunk and squeak the doors rattled in the openings there was SO MUCH cab flex .... I had them replaced by plane Poly mounts Which are like rocks,, I am so disappointed, I spent the $600 for the S&B mounts and another $600 ini labor to install TWICE by replacing them .... I have a 2012 F25 Diesel and I would be very careful unless you drive in a road with out bumps you will be disappointed, way to much cab flex I have rattles now in the cab that I didn't have before !! Buyer beware ! is all i can say its a ton of money to pay twice !

    (2010 Crew Cab)
    - Heat the bolts for 1 min with a propane torch to hit the factory blue Loctite.
    - Once the bolt is out if you cannot get the uppers separated from the lowers on the old mounts drill from the bottom with a 3/4" drill bit.
    - 6 of the 8 cage nuts were accessible from the cab. Used a 22mm socket to hold while loosened from underneath the truck.
    - For the two front body mounts, if the nut spins. Take out the headlight assembly. Flip over the rubber shield on the side of the radiator and locate the lock nut. There is a spot to put a 7/8 wrench (3” long) if you cut it in half.
    - Torque to 76 ft lbs
    - Very happy with the S&B mounts. Thanks for the recommendation, so didn't have to do this job twice.

    Ironic I stumble upon this video after having just ordered S&B mounts for my '06 F350 CrewCab. BUT the kit only shows 6 mounts, not 8. Monday, I'll be calling Thoroughbred Diesel for answers. Any chance S&B makes suspension bump stops??? Ford uses the same Crap for the bump stops and those have already disappeared and I need to replace them.

    • @SVTPerformance
      @SVTPerformance  3 года назад

      We could use new bump stops too. The number of mounts depends on the cab length.

    DO NOT buy the Daystar polyurethane mounts. Omg what a huge monumental mistake I made by installing those things on my rig. It feels like you're riding on a stagecoach. They're suppose to be universal and they're not and they clunk clank squeal and they're like rocks. When you go down a dirt road you'll hear them making all kind of noise. If anybody has these installed on their rig and say that they don't have a problem with them and they don't make noise then that individual has to be deaf because they're not quite. I bought them because of the price and S&B were to expensive but I learned my lesson and that is when you go cheap it ends up costing you more in redo work and time. I would of saved money by going ahead buying the S&B mounts from the beginning. I just ordered them last night and I can't wait to install them because that clank clunk shit is driving me NUTS!!!!🤪🤯 I hope this helps someone make their mind on which ones to buy and I'm not the only one saying this about the Daystar mounts. Good luck people.
