    Hi Kian! I am so excited for you and your fiancé to get your first place together! I worked in the apartment industry for 4 years and I have some advice for you while looking. I live north of Atlanta so pricing in the suburbs is very similar to what you showed here. My best advice would be to check the apartment communities website daily like you have been doing. They tell you they will add you to list but typically there is no list and these agents are so busy... they don’t have time to follow up with you on the new ones that come available or other people will scoop the good priced ones up before you get the chance to be contacted. I recommend getting a list of all the fees, deposits and utilities before you move in. Ask the agents to see what the previous tenants water bill was. Sometimes the community will bill your water and sewer based on the whole building or they will have an individual meter for your unit. I have worked with both types and I find individual meters are best because you’re not paying for other people’s use or the common areas. Keep in mind the higher up the floor is you live on, the higher your power bill will be in the summer. But on the contrary, your power bill in the winter will be lower because the units below you will help heat yours. When dealing with brand new communities, they often offer move in specials. I’m not sure how long y’all are planning on living in an apartment but please consider that new communities typically have a higher rent increase after the first year. Especially when you factor a move in special into that, then increase will seem even higher bc they will be basing it off the market rent value instead of what you’re actually paying with the discount. Not an issue if this is short term but if you are planning on staying over a year you need to consider the high increase issue. Typically apartments facing amenities or units that are close to amenities have a premium attached. I know you don’t prefer this so that’s good! I would suggest one that faces the parking lot for better lighting and if you have a “worse view” it should be cheaper by $15-50 (the range I’ve seen for premium views in ATL). Last but not least the community should be able to provide you with a site map showing the location of the buildings and some even show the unit numbers within those buildings. I highly recommend getting a site map from the ones you are most interested in because when you find one available on the website, you can then look up that specific unit number and see where it’s located. Another rule of thumb is if they have 5 buildings and each one has 3 floors (for example) usually the first apartment number will be the building number, and the second number typically is the floor level it is on. So if you have unit 423 that usually is in building 4 level 2. This helps because you know you want a higher floor and also so you don’t have to contact the office everytime you see a unit come available and you can kind of sift through them. Every community is different of course. I hope all of this makes sense and I hope I didn’t overwhelm you! Forgive the run on sentences and any error in grammar I was typing fast lol. Good luck with your search!! You’ll know when it’s the right one!

    Hi! As someone who has lived in Phoenix for the last four years, I would look at renting a house! They generally are a little more expensive, but you will get SO MUCH more space and it's way cheaper price per square foot. Plus you'll get your own yard when you inevitably get a dog. I understand saving until you can buy a house, but check Zillow for renting one!! :)

      Take it with a grain of salt.. I live in Phx and AZ charges SALES TAX every month on rent. Plus, your electric bill in apartments can be $400 a month (or more) in the summers with the constant 110-118 heat- apartments here are thrown up in a couple months and have zero insulation. There are many "hidden" costs here. My car registration on a four year old mid priced car is still $600- was $1300 for on year registration new. Gas is $3 gallon or more- and wages are half LA level for most jobs (other than minimum wage) Massive pollution and traffic- climate is not that great. I would never advise people to relocate here- costs are rising very fast

      I moved from Irvine, CA to Phoenix AZ best thing I ever did in my life. I bought a brand new house (built in 2019) 3 bed 2 bath 2000 sq paid $229k mortgage payment is $1324
      I make $112k a year living here I feel rich bc the cost of living is so cheap. Had I stayed in Irvine I’d be living paycheck to paycheck so sad. Bottom line is leave OC not worth it.

    I remember living in North Scottsdale almost 10 years ago at a nice complex. I had a one bedroom next to one of the pools for around $750. Now that same complex starts at around $1200. The price of living is going up here so fast! Paradise valley/Phoenix/Scottsdale near Tatum and cactus have some apartments close to all 3 but the price range is better for your buck usually. Scottsdale is called Snobbsdale for a reason. I lived there twice and loved the area...but the people some were very entitled! After $1500 I rather just have a house. Living more south of Scottsdale now I am looking for a place starting next year, it is nice to see the insight on your video!

    Kian, I love you! I came across one of your videos a couple of weeks ago and watched your testimony and it inspired me to find God again. I used to be very religious but have been shutting Him out and telling myself religion was stupid for the past ten years. The past couple of years I’ve been having vivid dreams about God and seeing signs that I should once again let Him back into my life, but when I saw your video it made me realize that I needed Him. I too have done many things I’m not proud of.......and have spent the past couple years depressed and suicidal. But I truly feel like I’m being saved now. I have prayed for my pain and anguish to be taken away and it has. I have prayed for friends surrounding me and I’ve been meeting people left and right. My life is becoming what I’ve always wanted it to be, and I couldn’t do it alone. Anyway, I was truly inspired by your testimony and feel like you are a friend to me. Thank you for sharing your life with us and I’m truly grateful I found you.

    I live in north Phoenix right on the border of Scottsdale and just wanted to tell you, in case you want to try and save a little $$ that if your address is listed in "Scottsdale" than your rent is automatically about $200- $300 higher than that same place would be if it were in Phx. Try looking right outside of Scottsdale like Paradise Valley or Deer Valley or around Desert Ridge! Just a little suggestion hun. Good luck!!

    Out of curiosity, not judging, but did you and Kyle ever consider like saving $$$ for a down payment for a house instead? I don’t live in Arizona so I’m not well educated in how stuff cost there but I have heard this relatively cheaper than here in California. My aunt bought a house with 4 rooms and a den and 2 bathrooms and a pretty big backyard for around $350,000 around 3 years ago in Arizona which is a pretty good deal since these houses were just built when she bought them. I know $350,000 can be a lot for a young couple but the price isn’t so bad atleast compared to how much houses would cost where I live. Obviously, again, I don’t know Arizona or your income with Kyle but it’s seems pretty doable for a couple to save their combined income for a year and use that for a down payment of a house rather than renting a space. Again, I’m not judging you just curious if you and Kyle ever talked about ? Or do you guys just want to take it slow in terms of buying a house/laying your roots? But never the less, love the update and I wish you both well in terms of finding the perfect apartment 💙

      yes, my husband and I live in Phoenix and our goal was to rent as cheap as possible so we could save to purchase our now home (the apartments we lived in were not luxurious so no stainless steel appliances or luxury pools). We have been in our house for almost a year now, our mortgage is $600 less than the apartments this couple is looking for....we live in Tempe which is a great area.

    You get what you get with apartments. If you want high ceilings, the right color paint, appliances and size of closet and bathrooms, guess what you will pay alot more for a luxury apartment. You can put your own touches in an apartment.

      Why is that? Weather? Or other circumstances? I’m curious because I see a lot of people moving to Arizona due to rent being cheaper. I’m from CA and always wondered what life is like in AZ.

    • @briannastultz6924
      @briannastultz6924 4 года назад

      Compared to CA, our rent is cheaper. As someone who has lived in AZ most of her life, rents are increasing at such a rapid pace. Affordable housing is becoming increasingly difficult to find. North Scottsdale, Scottsdale in general, is one of the more expensive places to live (along with downtown Phoenix and the Arcadia area).

    • @norahmanuel2397
      @norahmanuel2397 4 года назад

      I can completely understand. I have family that live in San Jose, and it's just so expensive out there. I just dislike the weather here 😂 but to be fair it's just these summer months. Az is lovely during the winter. Especially when you can drive up to Sedona, flagstaff, or Prescott. I am literally moving in with my parents for the enxt year because prices are increasing so rapidly and I want to save up a down payment for a house before the house market skyrockets. The sooner I save the sooner I can make that move into my place before the mortgages get out of hand. I wish California would fix their shit instead of forcing so many families to move

      Molly Murphy talked about it a bit in my day in the life vlog. Kyle does life insurance sporadically for friends and family. Mainly right now he is doing instacart delivery because it allows him to make his own schedule. I currently make 70% of my income from RUclips and sponsorships and 30% managing a small businesses social media.
