- Imagine 5 little kids in a two-bedroom New York City apartment. It almost sounds like the first line to a joke, but to father and comedian Jim Gaffigan, it's reality. Anthony Mason reports.
He's wonderfully funny, yet wholly down-to-earth. That's a rare achievement for anyone in the spot light!
No one understands how much I love this man!!! Like, oh my gosh he's amazing. And I LOVE that he's "clean". I am 16 and curse but i try not to watch bad stuff and videos where people curse and say "dirty" things. That's the reason I love him so much. Because I can talk to my mom about him and tell her his jokes, because he's funny.
If you like clean comedy as much as I do try dry bar comedy you'll love it it's funny

I just noticed Jim Gaffigan and I didn't even realize that he was "clean". Truly hysterical, this guy can bring you to tears laughing. I still don't really understand living in such a small apartment though, he's gotta be making pretty good money at this point in his career.
Jim Gaffigan is the funniest comedian out there right now, and it was good to see one of TV's best storytellers, Anthony Mason, give him well deserved exposure. Awesome segment!

This was great, and Jim is clean and hilarious. Yes, he has five children, so what? I wish the world was populated with people more like the children being raised in his home than some of outrageously insensitive commenters below.

When he wears his hair longer, all I'm reminded of is Phillip Seymore Hoffman.
I love him! Their family is an encouragement to me, such a down to earth and funny family! :)
It's now clear why he stuck with the small apartment. Needed the material for his new TV series.

***** actually, I got my start on Comedy Central. Check out the stand-up I posted a couple of days ago and I give the story on that. It was after I shot a video for Tosh.0 that I thought maybe I should do stand-up. So I watched every comedy special on Netflix, wrote out my own hour long special, then started doing open mics. So I kind of went about it backwards. But the reality is that making highly opinionated videos on RUclips got me to open up. Before than I was pretty afraid to talk even to friends.

I loved this guy's standup. It's a unique experience these days to be able to laugh your ass off with your whole family and not feel awkward because of inappropriate comedic material that seems to be a given and not an exception for any comic that is worth watching. Now that I know a little bit more about him and his family, I find him inspirational and I'm proud to be a fan. Jim, keep up the good work and god bless!

I'm glad he's a clean comic no dirty comic in the whole world could be funnier than him. He's just real and actually funny :-)
I think it's much more difficult to be funny when your performance is clean, which is the reason I particularly enjoy and admire his work - not to mention, this also usually means that you need to get pretty creative. Crude humor on the other hand tends to be elementary to me, and taking an example like the "that's what she said" joke, has much more potential for stringing together ideas for jokes that don't require much thinking at all. That's not to say you can't have elaborate jokes in a crude act (this much is obvious), but on the whole it's very "easy" by comparison.

I really like this guy....both his humor and his humanity. He says things that make me burst out in laughter. He does not find it necessary to lace his routines with F-words, C-words, etc. I could take children and my grandmother to one of his performances and everyone would laugh. Comparing him to Bill Cosby and Bob Newhart is spot on. I wish him and his family nothing but success and happiness.

My dad knew Jim Gaffigan in college. They played football together, as did Jim's older brother, Joe. My dad is someone who doesn't like bad language in the slightest so even if he wouldn't have known Jim in college, he probably would still be my dad's favorite comedian (it would be me, but I'm too explicit for me).

What a great story. Jim Gaffigan manages to be hilarious without resorting to abuse or profanity. And Jeanne is a courageous mom daring to raise her kids in the city instead of some sterile suburb. She looks amazing, but don't tell anyone or she will be shamed by the legion of fat lazy jealous mothers.
Seeing a gorgeous, ambitious, hip woman in NYC married to a hysterical man (who helps him with his material) and raises that many kids and still looks laid back? I bet the women are seething with jealousy. I don't have any kids and I'm jealous!

allstar919 My suburb is far from sterile! The Clintons, Ralph Lauren, Richard Gere, Martha Stewart, Ron Howard, Vanessa Williams, Stan Tucci, Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, Mary J Bilge, David Letterman and Chevy Chase among others would agree with me.
it's a lot harder to be a clean comic than a dirty one. Dirty comics get cheap laughs. Clean comics have to be more intelligent and shaper in their delivery.
The only concerning aspect of having many children is the economics supporting a chosen level of lifestyle......
We had two and managed to survive. One's 24 and graduated UW-MADISON and other is 21 and senior at UW-EAU CLAIRE.

I hate it when people ask "Are you done having kids?"! First of all, it's none of their business. Secondly, it is always asked with that tone as if there is something wrong with wanting a large family.

Might want to ask families 2 generations back with 2x kids and 1/2 the house...
trust me they all probably go crazy from time to time. but they love each other. plus they live in NYC, there is always something to do!
