  • The comedian presents a serious, personal and loving story about his better half (also his co-writer and the co-creator of their five children). Jim and Jeannie Gaffigan talk about how everything about their lives changed in the face of a frightening medical emergency, when Jeannie was diagnosed with a pear-shaped brain tumor, and how humor helped get them through it.

@S C I don't think atheism is working out for you. You're still super bitter about everything that's happened in your life. My best friend is an atheist and is super chill and at peace with her struggles. It works for her... but clearly not for you. Work out the emotional issues you have, maybe in therapy or something, and then seek a spiritual path that nourishes you deeply. Blessed be

Congratulations on your recovery. I also had a brain tumor (acoustic neuroma). I was on a feeding tube for 7 months ,told I would never eat again. I said I will. I can eat now. I can't hear out of my right ear or see out of my right eye ( I lost my sight in that eye because I don't blink in that eye. When I was discharged I didn't know I needed to keep eyedrops in all day. My cornea got scratched and 3 replacements later none worked ). My face is a little twisted but I am here! THANK GOD. I am self sufficient and I can still drive. I am 67 years old. You will never know how much I needed your testimony.

That was an awesome interview: as a husband who was there through it all ... it made this a humanizing interview in a way I’ve never seen before (talking about how she helped him manage the demands of his career and family before the tumor), all while it was conducted in a formal and professional way.
Also I found this so informative! She didn’t have cancer and Jim is a sweetheart... he became not just comedian dad but good guy Jim doing what great dads do: when life got hard, he brought the family together with corny jokes. 🤪

Aaaw, prayers up indeed. HOWEVER, if they were horrible people would that mean it's ok for bad things to happen to them? Jesus said In this life you will have many troubles but take heart, for I have overcome the world for you.
*Bad things can happen to ANYONE and it's NOT relative to what they DO, even if they're in your opinion "too nice and good for anything bad to happen to."* We just live in an imperfect world with an imperfect earth & people, with demons in the invisible realm, plotting and creating obstacles.... For we wrestle not against flesh and blood (people) but against powers, against rulers of wickedness in high places.
🔹Prayer warns us and prayer does change things so I am grateful for your selfless heart in praying for others. God Bless!

Dale Wikfors - visualize that sucker shrinking and going away. Even if it is for just 5 minutes a day. I am sorry you are having to endure this, I have a very painful and chronic condition that sucks too (not as bad as a tumor) but it is life altering and I have learned to succumb to the wisdom of being forced by god or the universe to slow down a bit, appreciate things and learn a few lessons along the way. Best of luck to you....

You responded and wished me well. You are so kind. I am so happy that Jeanne got through all the complications that arose post surgery. Oh, how I wish I'd watched this one months ago. God bless you both, and your entire family. Jeannie is incredible. I'm in tears.

Amazing story that I can actually relate to!! 30 years ago I was diagnosed with a golf ball sized benign tumor that was attached to my pituitary gland and was stretching my right optic nerve. I appreciate your story, your perseverance and above all your humor. Aside from the support of my family and close friends (the fringe friends dropped off the map) a strong sense of humor got me through 4 craniotomies, complications, and 30 days of radiation over the course of a year and a half while in college. Technology was a bit more brutal back then. Life does come back and we do move forward. God bless you Jim and Jeannie.

Probably thumbing down the tumor - not the result.

I’m sitting here at breakfast, in front of a cold cup of coffee and soggy Cherrios with tears in my eyes, first from sadness and now with joy, all for a woman I don’t know and will never meet. Thank you for your faith and your gift to all of us.

Jim, Jeannie I am so proud of you guys.
Jeannie, I can relate to what you went through because
    I had a Stroke in November 2011.
I was partially bind, lost the memory of everyone's face I had
ever known, and had a major loss of my cognitive skills.
EIGHT years later and I am still here.
    Hang in there Jeannie.
