  • So I picked up the altura 8mm fisheye in hopes of using it with the GH4 but it turned out the minimum focal distance isn't close enough to use the lens. (its blurry) The meike lens is good but it is a little bit too small, it doesn't give you a feeling of where you are pointing, and its so wide that it becomes tough to use mics and lights. Does anyone have any experience with this, I would love to see a discussion in the comments! I have seen people use this lens on the GH5 but there must be a difference in the flange distances of those cameras. So long story short, I put the lens on the S5 using the urth EF to L mount adapter and bam it's pretty wide and buttery at 1080. The S5 camera crops on 4K 60P so it kind of turned me off from using the lens in a cropped mode. I could potentially shoot 4k 30 in full frame with this, but I prefer 60 for HD. Full frame fisheye is very wide, and not as easy as I expected to get the shots I wanted but I am still stoked on how the first clips came out!

Thanks for the test. The Meike 6.5mm still looks best to me in terms of fisheye for dslr/mirrorless its selling feature being for me the way the metal housing reflects light similar to the original fisheye adapters for camcorders. But not having owned or used one so 🤷‍♂️

very nice clips!! im really thinking on buying the lumix S5 but im kinda worried about getting a good fisheye for the camera! Im still trying to learn about the mounting and the best fisheye options. Your footage looks awesome but i feel like its not that wide as for example the Gh5 with canon 8-15mm fisheye that i saw on other people videos, is there any wider options for the L-mounting on the S5? Thanks G!
