Best days on the saddle I ever had I was just me and my bike. Riding solo is a great experience. Just be prepared for everything and use extra caution.

Just getting started with my mountain biking and all that kit costs $$$ so yeah, I'll be breaking a lot of rules lol.
I went on a rule braking spree last summer in Italy lol... I went riding on a closed DH park and got chased by bike cops and I can tell ya - it was bloody awesome, both for me and the guys who chased me. There were unfinished north shores, heavy machinery all over the place, flooded sections... you name it. They admitted that they never went so hard down that trail and thanked me after that... on top of that I was riding blind, cuz I never went down that tail before. I still got a ticket that should be paid, but Im gonna take advantage of the Italian bureaucracy and never pay it.
That's right, rules are there to be broken. Only why all people make this, you have to do it in the same way. I wear a skate helmet when I drive my mtb.😱😱😱 Nice video ✌🏼
Drive 2 Wheels works like a charm. I switched to a bicycle helmet when I started to ride more just because it being less warm, not because it didn't do the job :)
I've found sometimes the best rides are just riding around exploring, not so much riding fast or even with a group. Not sure if this breaks a rule but it sure breaks the stereotype that we are all mt dew drinking wild men out of an xgames advert... Also at least one of my bikes still has rim brakes.
1. Lycra with baggy clothing. Bibs are super comfortable and when it’s really hot shorts are just a burden. However, if the ride is still chill I wear a loose shirt for the comfort. 2. Lycra and Knee pads. Sometimes you want to full send but it’s 90 degrees.
One rule I break when I am on a climb and I encounter riders coming down I always let them go first. They are on the fun decent why should I be the one to ruin there fun, plus the break can be nice.
My mom cought me swearing and told me if I hadn't licked the bar of soap by the time she got back I'd be in more trouble... So I ate the entire bar, now I can say what ever the frick I want!
One rule that cannot and should not ever be broken is to give back to the community- Participate in trail maintenance days, donate to local trail advocacy groups.
Once I went for a trip to an enduro park with my friends and we ran on a system where we have the fastest at the front and slowest at the back, but when the faster ones got to a junction or something, we would stop and as soon as the slower ones came along, we would wait maybe 10 seconds and head off again. We did this so that we could try and improve the slower riders stamina.
The one rule of mountain biking and general cycling is the n+1 rule. This rule states the the correct number of bikes to own is n+1 where n=the number of bikes you currently own.
if the sign has a penal code written under the wording, then its a lawful sign....if there is no PC under the wording, then its a false sign & RIDE RIDE RIDE!
You did a great job of explaining the benefits for the slow rider when s/he is either behind or in front of the faster rider. What you failed to mention was how a fast rider can benefit from following a slower rider. To that end, I offer this: If you're a good deal faster than the guy in front of you, back off a little. Look for different lines. Look for extra little spots to huck a jump and add some style to your ride. Watch that slower rider and offer him tips on how to improve his riding -- you'll be his hero when he's faster for having listened.
6’1 me wearing Cargo shorts, a T-shirt, my dads old camel back, a Walmart bell helmet from 2016, and riding a early 2000s Schwinn Mesa GS small 26in hardtail MTB bombing jumps and berms has all I need for a good time
I bought my first mountain bike in 1983. No shocks in sight and a road geometry 23" frame and I still took it or on snowmobile trails in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Somehow I made it through this time and I still have that old Nikyo (try and Google that!) MTB! A few welds and newer components and that old warhorse is still a champ! Who the hello needs shocks and sealed hubs?! Pbbttt.
mountain/commuter bike. Handle anything and don't look like at all like the stereotypical cyclists everyone hates. The perfect between for road and cruiser bikes. Then again riding any bike on road isn't against the rules.
been using ski goggles and helmet for winter months for years, also traded out my back pack for a Fanny pack and frame bag. a Fanny pack is convenient for keeping my tools and anything that I wouldn't want to leave on my bike if I go into a store. not having any weight on my back at all is so much better, plus with a back pack if it's not full you get things shifting around during more extreme moments and it can throw off your balance
That's 50km/h on the streets on an MTB, now what juice are you on? you know we both know that ain't physically possible right? not only isn't that possible but, now on an mtb on the streets? you mean a downhill street? stop lying dude.
At least the speed limit is 20mph...in Singapore its 15kmh and its gonna be reduced to 10kmh...and our handlebars have to be below 700mm. Its outrages!
@@aimanhazim1219 15kmph....thats barely 10mph!!!! And they want to reduce it to 5mph? Get people to tell them HELL NO! The bar width I can understand in the city, there are some pretty tight squeezes just in my city, and its not even that densely packed! Just carry two bars with ya,a 650mm and a 750mm set.
@@ianholmquist8492 Now, either you have a chinese speedsensor or just outright lying. I ride roadbikes in summer, and you can only dream of riding the streets at that speed, I can only get that fast on a roadie when I am going downhill, don't even dream about it when on flat surface let alone on an mtb. I am 6"3 ripped like a son of a bitch and an African male. 35. If doesn't get more athletic than that. I know you are a 14 year old whitemale wantin to school me about athletism. You ain't cranking no 50kmh on no flat street in this world on any mtb. I can bet my life on that.
I've broken my toes twice while smashing my foot/pedal into things while riding. With steel plated safety shoes they probably wouldn't have been, on the other side I probably would've fallen off the bike long before that because I'd have slipped off the pedals because they don't have a sticky enough sole. 🤓
Dude, I was wearing FiveTen Impacts, didn't stop my toes from being broken or my crank arm from being bent. 😅 Sometimes shit just happens, unfortunately for me that was twice in a reasonable short amount of time. Hasn't happened since then though, luckily.
I'm in love with fat bikes. Picking up my second one next weekend. I'll be riding em everywhere, at the bike park trails, on the street, down the beach, on the promenade, on the snow (if we ever get any in the SW)
I love riding in the wet. I know i've had heated discussions with others (particularly Americans) about it but here in the UK it's absolutely fine and makes everything so much more fun.
Which rules do you break? And which do you think should be broken? let us know in the comments below 👇

I smashed out 4 of my front teeth last year... Let's just say I wear full face 100% of the time now, road or mountain. :P
I know one! 29” wheels are fine!! Nothing wrong with it
That's right, rules are there to be broken. Only why all people make this, you have to do it in the same way.
I wear a skate helmet when I drive my mtb.😱😱😱
Nice video ✌🏼
Drive 2 Wheels works like a charm. I switched to a bicycle helmet when I started to ride more just because it being less warm, not because it didn't do the job :)
Me too
Drive 2 Wheels how do u drive a bike 😁
I've found sometimes the best rides are just riding around exploring, not so much riding fast or even with a group. Not sure if this breaks a rule but it sure breaks the stereotype that we are all mt dew drinking wild men out of an xgames advert...
Also at least one of my bikes still has rim brakes.
I always wear jeans and hoodie😂 that's my style I ride
Lol, so do i. It is comfertable and practical so why not
1. Lycra with baggy clothing. Bibs are super comfortable and when it’s really hot shorts are just a burden. However, if the ride is still chill I wear a loose shirt for the comfort.
2. Lycra and Knee pads. Sometimes you want to full send but it’s 90 degrees.
I ride in the rain all the time and it's the funnest
Riding in my local wood. LOVE IT.
Great fun video as well keep up the good work.
Happy Christmas to you all
Best rule break: wear lycra shorts in enduro meetings 😍 people go crazy
They are totally checking your junk, probs.
Bravo bravissimo GMBN. Again. Best greetings here from Denmark.
OMG blake you are a hoot!!!!
Blake just covered everything that needs to be broken to make a ride better🔥🔥
One rule I break when I am on a climb and I encounter riders coming down I always let them go first. They are on the fun decent why should I be the one to ruin there fun, plus the break can be nice.
Amen Brother! Great list of rules to break. I've been riding since I was a kid. And I break those rule. Its good to see them listed and okay'ed
My mom cought me swearing and told me if I hadn't licked the bar of soap by the time she got back I'd be in more trouble...
So I ate the entire bar, now I can say what ever the frick I want!
You show those motherflippers...... plus foaming/bubbles from the mouth scares the poop out of people.
One rule that cannot and should not ever be broken is to give back to the community- Participate in trail maintenance days, donate to local trail advocacy groups.
SOOO TRUE
I almost always wear a backpack when I ride.
I only ride rail trails and do so with iron maiden tshirt, Jean shorts, backpack, handlebar mounted stereo blaring metal.
Don't fart in front !
Don't break that one tho, last thing you want when you're gasping for air is a huff of your mate's colon.
I break the back pack rule fanny pacs for days yewwww
The one rule of mountain biking and general cycling is the n+1 rule. This rule states the the correct number of bikes to own is n+1 where n=the number of bikes you currently own.
My local park says no bikes aloud but there is sanctioned trails.
That makes no sense
"aloud" Ahah
if the sign has a penal code written under the wording, then its a lawful sign....if there is no PC under the wording, then its a false sign & RIDE RIDE RIDE!
Lame!
You did a great job of explaining the benefits for the slow rider when s/he is either behind or in front of the faster rider. What you failed to mention was how a fast rider can benefit from following a slower rider. To that end, I offer this:
If you're a good deal faster than the guy in front of you, back off a little. Look for different lines. Look for extra little spots to huck a jump and add some style to your ride. Watch that slower rider and offer him tips on how to improve his riding -- you'll be his hero when he's faster for having listened.
Great comment good sir
I wear whatever I want and I mix loose with tight clothe all the time.
6’1 me wearing Cargo shorts, a T-shirt, my dads old camel back, a Walmart bell helmet from 2016, and riding a early 2000s Schwinn Mesa GS small 26in hardtail MTB bombing jumps and berms has all I need for a good time
Update: sorry guys I’m a try hard now, I have a full suspension, I wear a nice giro helmet with a racing jersey, and actually bomb jumps and berms now
8th: skin suit. I was expecting a skin suit as well on you, Blake! Come on, break that rule!
Neil breaks this one for the whole team
I bought my first mountain bike in 1983. No shocks in sight and a road geometry 23" frame and I still took it or on snowmobile trails in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Somehow I made it through this time and I still have that old Nikyo (try and Google that!) MTB! A few welds and newer components and that old warhorse is still a champ! Who the hello needs shocks and sealed hubs?! Pbbttt.
I wore a road helmet with my dh bike once
😂
How bout riding your mountain bike on the road
The past is the future: skinsuits and aero helmets FTW!
mountain/commuter bike. Handle anything and don't look like at all like the stereotypical cyclists everyone hates. The perfect between for road and cruiser bikes. Then again riding any bike on road isn't against the rules.
@@fire2box just get a hardtrail for that
been using ski goggles and helmet for winter months for years, also traded out my back pack for a Fanny pack and frame bag. a Fanny pack is convenient for keeping my tools and anything that I wouldn't want to leave on my bike if I go into a store. not having any weight on my back at all is so much better, plus with a back pack if it's not full you get things shifting around during more extreme moments and it can throw off your balance
Going through the street at 36mph when it's a 20mph limit to get to your favourite trail before darkness
That's 50km/h on the streets on an MTB, now what juice are you on? you know we both know that ain't physically possible right? not only isn't that possible but, now on an mtb on the streets? you mean a downhill street? stop lying dude.
@@kay19833 definitely is possible. What are we a bunch of old ladies?
I like this guy! Funny, entertaining! making learning fun! Go Blake!
You have to spray some loose dirt like how can you not like making big clouds of dust after you whip ur back end out with the back wheel locked up
this my fav GMBN host, he makes me laugh af lmao.
I wear safety shoes by ENGELBERT STRAUSS S3
Nothing can hurt me 💪
Not a stone, no root, no pedal, 😂🤙
Dude, wtf ? I never heard of someones feet being damaged because of riding lol
Overprotecting at its finest
I've broken my toes twice while smashing my foot/pedal into things while riding. With steel plated safety shoes they probably wouldn't have been, on the other side I probably would've fallen off the bike long before that because I'd have slipped off the pedals because they don't have a sticky enough sole. 🤓
sp00n dude, just buy mtb specific shoes, some of them are very stiff and strong.
Dude, I was wearing FiveTen Impacts, didn't stop my toes from being broken or my crank arm from being bent. 😅 Sometimes shit just happens, unfortunately for me that was twice in a reasonable short amount of time. Hasn't happened since then though, luckily.
A good pair of stretchy swim trunks (aka board shorts) are a great inexpensive alternative to proper MTB shorts.
I'm in love with fat bikes. Picking up my second one next weekend. I'll be riding em everywhere, at the bike park trails, on the street, down the beach, on the promenade, on the snow (if we ever get any in the SW)
4:09 You can break my rules, Blake!
Wait, what?
"Plus, it matches my bike" LOL
Thanks Blake for your videos.
this is awesome , GMBN are filming in my local woods !!!!
Blake is seriously my favorite gmbn presenter. Dude's hilarious.
I love riding in the wet. I know i've had heated discussions with others (particularly Americans) about it but here in the UK it's absolutely fine and makes everything so much more fun.
Yes Blake that Matt green with orange! 🤘🏻
