Omg, Auti... 😣 Back early when I started dancing in a studio I used to like but unfortunately I didn't have any recommendations and... omg... I was SO disrespectful 😶 watching your tips just makes me be so ashamed of myself and sad after all I did in class and with my teacher (and believe it: I loved her, i admired her soooo much! But unfortunately I didn't showed it). I thing I already broke all these rules during my 2 years in that studio. Time to change! Time To apologize the studio and my teacher! Time To grow! Thank you for your help and honesty, I needed ❤
speaking as a dance teacher, one of my favorite things is hearing from students even years and years later... do take the time to reach out. They'll appreciate it :) (plus its really big of you to own up)
i've been a dancer for ten years now, and it's really interesting to see all the different rules and guidelines that different teachers have!! i don't dance competitively by any means, we just do classes for fun, and do exams in december, and then have an annual show in the summertime. my teacher is so laidback, we have so much banter and chat in class and i always look forward to going to her class, it's the best part of my day. of course we all maintain good etiquette throughout, but i always think that it's nice when you have a teacher who doesn't take themselves too seriously and is open to suggestion, and likes engaging with their students. loved the video, i've been a fan of your channel for ages and your videos are always so so inspiring! hope you're well
that goes well for adult students and students over 15. For kids though, it requires alot of discipline so not dome of them will spin into a cycle of just playing away the entire lesson, and that affects all the other students who are there really seriously. Afterall, their parents pay for their time there! Adults, however are more often there for the fun of it and would be very discouraged if things were too serious
I just started contemporary dance coming from a deep yoga background and have my pet peeves (many common crossover irritatents) with clueless newbies which I will not be in dance class thanks to this video!!
Those rules are so decieveing. While watching I think to myself "but that's just good manners" or "that's just common sense" and thought of them as obvious and that I abide by all of them. And yet, after watching entire video, I understood how much I needed that pointed out so clearly. Devil's in the details as they say. I noticed many things I didn't notice before. Thank you very much! :D Great channel by the way :)
Thanks, Miss Auti! Could I add one more dance etiquette which is really a pet peeve and extremely inconsiderate towards classmates - and that is STOP HOGGING THE MIRRORS during center!!! It's like we all are there to learn and move and dance, so sometimes I look at the mirror to also follow along when I can't remember what to do. It's just common courtesy to give that one step to the side for someone in the back to have a bit of mirror too. It's so sad when this happens and I've stopped going to many classes out of frustration. Oh yeah, some teachers should learn from this tutorial too, Miss Auti, because their being late is unprofessionally a no-no.
I have an audition tonight, so this video was really helpful! I kinda wish I had seen it at the beginning of the year though :/ oh well! At least I have it now! Thanks for making this video!!
If you're old enough, why not offer to do odd jobs for neighbours (like mowing their lawn, or walking their dogs, or babysitting)? That's what allowed me to save up - I've been saving for only a few weeks and I plan to start classes very soon! Best of luck on your dance journey!
I would learn and practice at home and then see if you can get scholarship! Many dance studios award high performing students full scholarships, so you can demonstrate a need and dedication
@Stuff yes!! I am still dancing not as much I would like to roght now as, I am in a theatre show, but yes!! It is going good, I am really enjoying it. Thank you for asking!!!!
I've been dancing my whole life, and etiquette sort of comes naturally to me now, so when a collegue said that she took her kid out of dance class because "they wanted her to have SPECIAL CLOTHES and her HAIR IN A CERTAIN WAY!!!???", I was chocked. Like... Of course you should have the right clothes and your hair in a way so that it's not in the way?! I told her that and she said "Yeah, but they were so strict about it!? So what if my kids doesn't have tight clothes for ballet class?" and I was like "BUT HOW IS THE TEACHER GOING TO SEE WHAT SHE NEEDS TO ADJUST IF YOUR DAUGHTER ONLY WEARS BAGGY CLOTHES?!?!?!?!".
My dance teacher said to me and a couple of my friends she is going to see out if us who is going to get the point shoes 1st how can I make my changes greater to get my point shoes 😘🥰really hope u can help
At my studio our phones sit with our water bottles so we can film our dances other than that we don’t touch them at all ALSO DON’T LOOK AT THE CLOCK. It makes your teachers think your not engaged and that you are waiting for class to be over.
Hey thank you for making all the efforts towards to teach us ballet in different steps and through different ways :))) ! , But can you please answer one question maybe you did in the video but I kinda didn't get it or something I am sorry but, what should we wear on the first day of class because I live in Pakistan where ballet doesn't stand as one of the significant or fascinated thing for girls right here ik it's strange and not likely to be appreciate and that's because I don't have much knowledge about it i am soon going to be joining classes the one and only academy in here and it's underrated as well but dreams gotta be on their way to turn a reality:). Looking forward to your reply.
Autie, can i translate it and read it to my students, because i think this is very important theme speaked up? As they are very young and doesnt understand english, thank you,
lmao there ain’t no tidiness in our studio.. you can’t even move in the changing room because there’s just dance bags and people and food everywhere lmao
the one about no talking! I never talk during class but there are always. people. who. come. up. and. talk. to. me. to. tell. me. about. how. their. dog. did. something. cute. last. week. and. I. get. in. trouble even though I wasn't engaging in the conversation!!! It's so annoying.
Haha my teacher always says “If your early, your on time... if your on time, your late... if your late, you might as well not come”
Grace’s Journeys omg my orchestra/violin teacher used to say that
Angela Wu sammee omg
My teacher says that to! But instead of if your late you might as well not come, she says if your late your dead😐🙂
YOUR TEACHER HAS FEELINGS TOO! Can't be said enough!
or "your teachers have feelings, too."
@@shineptapic taking a break in-between feeling and too sounds weird
Feelings*
I wish I could learn in your studio 😫
I miss dancing so bad it's hurts 😢
U can ALWAYS start again! ITS NEVER TOO LATE!!
Dance etiquette is so important!
My math teacher always said "early is on time, on time is late, and late is unacceptable"
I WISH SHE WAS MY TEACHER!!!! I LOVE HER SO MUCH
Omg, Auti... 😣

People have to learn. You were a clueless newbie at some point too.

I want to do dance. But I can't pay for it. Neither can my parents, and dancing is something I've wanted to do for a long time
you can learn from home!
If you're old enough, why not offer to do odd jobs for neighbours (like mowing their lawn, or walking their dogs, or babysitting)? That's what allowed me to save up - I've been saving for only a few weeks and I plan to start classes very soon! Best of luck on your dance journey!
Maybe you can work in the dance studio?
Cleaning or doing some paperwork. Lie a little assistant.
Maybe you can help in classes with little kids.
I would learn and practice at home and then see if you can get scholarship! Many dance studios award high performing students full scholarships, so you can demonstrate a need and dedication
Thank you for being so real and helpful! Going for my first dance class in a long time tomorrow, needed this a lot!

Same here. Please explain about spotting if possible, Auti. Having a hard time to spot while doing the turns.
