Thats what i heard that nitto dont rub. So i ask a couple of tech at toyota and i also follow the forms. According to them, toyota set the tires size for 275/65/198 for the clearance and the smoothness. But I decided to not add the weight of the 295, but man.... they sure do look good on the pro.
The ride is very smooth. I was surprised myself since these are E rated ( 10 ply ) tires. For the extra weight i would rated 3 out 10. You noticed the difference but not enough to shy away from them. Thx for watching
So for my experience, in my 2014 tundra ive got bilstein 6112/5160 setup and went with Toyo open country 285/75R18 and with my setup, it was extremely harsh and very sluggish. The stock tires weigh 40lbs and the ones I had were 67. 67!! That's almost a 75% weight increase and it was very noticeable in my case. Keep in mind the TRD pro suspension is vastly superior to the bilsteins. But for me it was very very harsh ride with 10 ply. Also just adding in, I have freedom off-road UCAs and set my shocks to 2.5" lift and there's absolutely no rubbing
Thats was almost the size i went with. But decided to stay just a tab lower. With the 275/70/18 got a 1 inch lift and im ok with that. 285 is a great choice as well.
Should be good. No reason for the middle or top of the tire to bulge out. That only happens where the tire is pressing against something. Heat will swell a little but not much.
Yeah, i got rid of the 295, took away most of the functionality of the truck. Big tires made the truck slow, ate gas, lost handling, lost acceleration and lost the smooth ride. I went back to 275/70/18
I have the same exact truck but in white, can't make up my mind if i want to go with the 295s, 285s or stay at 275s...seeing how close the tires are to rubbing makes me a little uncomfortable due to me going out to do some light off roading during hunting season...I'm leaning really hard to 285s now...
On the pro yes. But you have to get certain tires. Like nitto ridge grappler, toyo open country at3. If you get tires with big side walls then it won't work. Like my falken wildpeak at3w. They rub your lower sway bars aka ( 295/70/18 )
Its a great tire. But i have made an update to this video. They do rub your lower sway bar at full lock turn. I would suggest you go with toyo open country at3, ko2 or nitto ridge grappler depending on where you live.
I would suggest you look into toyo open country at3. They're known for off road/ summer tires/ and heavily snow rated. These tires are going to be my next set. I would choose these over K02 thx for sub i appreciate.
Thanks for watching the video. What made my decision was i wanted wider tires, in my own opinion the truck looks more aggressive, i personal like the looks of the 295/70/18. I've seen the 285/75/18 on a few tundra pros and to me, and just my opinion, with 285/75/18 the trucks looks like a body builder, big on top and small on the bottom. Still a good choice if you like that look.
@@sin4459 Thanks for the reply. I probably don't need it and may never use it but I just wanted the most ground clearance I could get. The 285/75R18 are wider than my stock tires & definitely taller. Yours definitely looks good....how much did the extra weight of that tire affect your MPG?
Now that another story lol. These falken wildpeak at3w are heavy tires about 70lbs per tire. Nitto ridge grappler are lighter and looks more aggressive, but i live in MINNESOTA and i needed a snow rated tire. So far I've driven about 200 miles and i haven't seen much drop. I went from 13.9 mpg to 13.1. Will need more time. Personally if you really off road you could stick with stock size and and get aggressive tires. Well, it's been a while. 295 are very close to 35, but if i can recall. 35 requires a body chop mount for no rubbing. I didn't want to do that. Also 295 rub and full lock turn, uturn, etc... That's why i dropped back to 275/70/18.
I'm not familiar with recalibration of the speedometer. But with bigger tires you'll mostly likely gain more speed. Like if you're going 70 it might be like 72mph
You do not, just the removal of the front splash guard. I am probably going to be selling these tires. And going back to stock tire size. I plan on going off road and with this tire size it would not be ideal. You can lift the truck but this pro came ready for off road. Also i found a little rubbing at full lock on the lower arms, nothing bad but if it aint broken dont fix it. Lesson learned
@@sin4459 wow. Glad I came up with your video. Just about to pull the trigger on these tires. What do you think about going to 285's, want the look but not enough to sacrifice being on the trails.
I want most of my clearance back. Stock tire size is 275/65/18. The only other size I'm considering is 275/70/18 you get 1 inch lift, same width and it clears most lite to medium trails. Trust me you have a pro and you want to hit trails keep it stock, get off road tires, or lift that pro and go all out lol
@@ExtraTvingest1 i gave you wrong info. The 295 will rub your sway bars not lower control arm. Thats on me. But that enough for me to get rid of them.
